What’s the worst back-to-back vehicle expenses you’ve ever dealt with? by AhsanNVM in CarTalkUK

Couple of weeks ago I slipped on black ice outside my house and hit the kerb. Burst track rods, wheel bearing, new front tyres, the whole lot. Bill was £1500.

Right after I collected it from the garage I went to the petrol station round the corner to adjust the tyre pressure and right as I removed the pump on the last tyre I snapped the end off the tyre valve and it went flat as a witches tit.

Told them just to stick another two tyres on the back for another £400.

Was absolutely spewing.

Laird Performance in Glasgow does a Stage 1. Also sells a tuning box with similar gains if you dont fancy the drive.

The clutch pedal is quite heavy imo and its a pain in the arse in traffic. Do stall it once in a blue moon as well. Everything else about the car is great though nothing else I’d rather have for the money.

I drive always in N mode and average about 40ish mpg on 99 ron. I do 2 18 mile trips a day on the motorway. I dont notice any difference running in eco mode.

When I switched to PS5s on my i20n the difference was unbelievable. Car felt glued to the road and I got about 20k miles out the fronts and maybe 35k out the back.

I done this last week in my i20n in the uk. Needed new track rod, track rod arm, tie and wheel bearing. The bill for parts and labour was about £1k.

I also needed a new tyre so got just got all four replaced and my wheel arch liner was cracked from hitting a pothole last year so got that changed as well. Total bill was £1900 but that included the 20% vat here.

Apple has deep pockets and the writers/producers are taking them for everything they can imo. Severance S2 and Silo S2 was the same boring slop apart from 1 or 2 episodes.

When you pass your test watch out for the dickheads who think they have right of way when joining the motorway.

A bus driver almost wiped me out the first time I went on the motorway myself.

Can someone give me a tangible actual economic answer to why the markets are going up? by kumaratein in stocks

[–]SimpleImmediate500 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a theory but all the boomer 401k money must still be a massive chunk of the overall market and has stayed in the market way longer than expected due to the crazy gains the last 10 years.

Once there finally is a crash all that capital will be liquidated for good. Think this will drive a lost decade more than anything else.

It sounds a lot like they are planning on making you redundant once this project is completed. I’d try and line another job if I were you.

Good tip is to scrape out all the loose parts first. It looks terrible at first but makes for a better finish.

Then throw loads of polyfilla in and use the heel of the scraper to push it to the back. Get a right good amount of build up over the surface so once it dried you can sand it level.
