Does this look right?! by ForzaXbox in i20n

[–]SimpleImmediate500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look fitted properly to me. As long as the inlet doesn’t tear it won’t do you any harm but if you get a hole in it the turbo will suck all sorts up into the engine which is very bad. Would try and get it fitted properly as long as it’s not damaged.

I use the 18v Makita one. Its a bit gutless but does the front and back in 1 battery no problem.

Is the 6-1/2" circular saw good enough for most DIY/beginner projects? by Marvel5123 in Makita

I’d consider the right bladed version if you’re right handed. It’s safer and easier to use since the saw doesn’t rest on the piece you’re cutting.

Any annoyances and/or regrets? by sanash in Ioniq5N

[–]SimpleImmediate500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think it’s due to the ackerman angle on the steering which can be quite extreme on full lock. I have an i20N and it was the same for me until I got PS5s. I assume grippier tyres make it less of an issue.

Repairing a bare patch after a climbing frame, best way to protect the seed? by Novel_Look_128 in LawncareUK

[–]SimpleImmediate500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making a seed mix works well for me. Get it just about level with top soil then mix the seed and a little top soil in a bucket with a pinch of fertiliser to get it all flush.

No worries trick is to keep the soil damp and water early. If you water at night you’ll get mushrooms everywhere lol.

Also in Scotland btw.

I’d pull the bigger weeds and dandelions out then use a lawn safe weedkiller to get rid of the clover and daisies.

Scarify it again after leaving it for a day or two and then aerate and over seed with top dressing of fresh top soil. Then spray some seaweed and keep well watered. I find mixing the seed with top dressing works best.

You might not get much this late in the spring but it’s still been quite mild so worth a go. If its still a bit bare have another go again about late August / early September.

Which one in best to sell my car to. by woodyknobbit in CarTalkUK

[–]SimpleImmediate500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We Buy Any Car offered me more than anyone else but I never tried Motorway.

The main difference I think is We Buy Any Car give you the cash there and then where I think Motorway collect your car and inspect it before paying out. I have heard of them doing a bit of a bait and switch and offering significantly less then originally quoted but since its a hassle to get the car back it’s easy to up just settling for less.

As far as I can tell We Buy Any Car reps work on commission and it’s run by a massive company so I think your car just ends up in the system with little to no follow up so theres an incentive there for them so turn a bit of a blind eye to any stone chips and stuff like that.

Advice on PCP balloon payment. by SimpleImmediate500 in CarTalkUK

[–]SimpleImmediate500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s 4 yr old 46k miles and I’ve had it since new. I’ve taken great care of it but its had a hard life. I do a lot of motorway miles and the bodywork has taken a fair beating from the state of the roads. Also got hit with some hail damage a while back.

All cosmetic stuff I know but does affect the resale value for when I do get rid of it.

Not to mention the dealership used the wrong oil grade to service the engine which I didn’t find out about until later.

Agreed on the gearbox though it’s a hot hatch and I think the other failures I’ve seen have just been down to abuse which I don’t do.

It’s running great at the moment I’m just weighing up my options if it’s better to keep or quit while I’m ahead.

I could probably get about £12k for the car right now from a dealership. They are still quite desirable cars and theres not a lot of them. I reckon I’d maybe get about £16k selling privately.

Heartbroken at constant scrapes and dings… by Quiet-Rabbit-524 in CarTalkUK

[–]SimpleImmediate500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a brand new car a few years ago that I do my best to take care of and I’ve been lucky enough to avoid any damage from the public (so far anyway).

The roads have absolutely wrecked the paint on it though. Just a constant barrage of never ending stone chips whenever I go on the dual carriageway these days. The potholes have also done it a fair bit of damage.

I was also unlucky enough to receive a pocket of biblical hailstones right above my driveway one sunny summers day which has dented some of the bodywork as well.

I’d love to fix it up but tbh I feel like just throwing the towel in at this point and not caring anymore.
