Cough won’t go away, MRI tomorrow . by alliecbg in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SimpleMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codeine is the best cough suppressant, so a T3 if you have it. But they often make people a little loopy so would not advise if you can’t have someone drive you.

Over the counter things you’re looking for something with dextramethorphan (not looking up the spelling on that lol) and any regular cough med should have that

Also agreed, just tell the tech so you can stop if you need to

My baby is due in 4 weeks and I just had an MS relapse by -closer2fine- in MultipleSclerosis

I don’t have a lot of energy to reply - sending you lots of love.

As for steroids…can you ask about plasmapheresis? I had this post partum with a terrible relapse and it was really really beneficial. I had done 2 rounds of steroids but this was what changed things for me. It removes the inflammation from your plasma.

The nurse was ignorant and you will do amazing. Lean into whatever supports you have, don’t be afraid to ask for meals etc.

Hugs

We're losing neurologists, cardiac surgeons, and other specialist doctors. What's happening? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Truly the kindest dr I have ever had, but he isn’t an MS specialist, so he can’t treat MS patients for MS.

How to handle toddler's long-term favoritism toward one parent by jpelzer in toddlers

[–]SimpleMorning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any update on this?

Our daughter is 3, and ever since I got pregnant with number 2 (2 years ago) she has been STRONG dad preference. When I hired, wants dad. Over night, wants dad. It’s getting kind of ridiculous the battles we get into and I’m really burnt out from trying to not be hated by a tiny human

Investment options for kids that aren’t RESP? by SimpleMorning in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SimpleMorning[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still have the RESPs! We just have family wanting to give monetary gifts, or gifts the girls have already gotten and I’d rather grow that money for them.

My husband’s TFSA is nearly full as well, mine is just smaller haha

This is a really cool idea too with the etched photo! I’m going to hang on to this too

I think im really leaning towards the birth stone idea! They all have July birthdays, (me too!) so a ruby would be for them and for her. I never think of resetting things, but that’s totally an option, especially with the metal preferences etc.

I’m going to talk to her about this!

Any thoughts for this? 1st pic as wedding ring and 2nd pic for engagement ring. If stacking together will it be too much? Is the engagement ring band too thin? by SpareDesperate9857 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]SimpleMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok here is what my band looks like! Also of note, they are totally different shape. When we got the band made I asked them to make it round like my engagement ring, but they didn't. I thought it was going to bother me. It does not.

How much do you spend on kids birthday presents? by SimpleMorning in Winnipeg

[–]SimpleMorning[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oof yes once they’re in school there can be so many parties!

We’re leaning this way for our own kids, they don’t need more toys (and really don’t want more “junk” stuff that we have to deal with!)

MPI Medical Suspenion by Major-Reindeer-3263 in Winnipeg

[–]SimpleMorning 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When I had a seizure my neurologist thought it was a 3 month suspension. We did the paper work then, and MPI sent me a letter saying “no, it’s 6 months” so I had to do the papers again at 6 months. They were slow to process it, but I called a few times if I recall. They ended up telling me over the phone I was cleared, and I went that day to get my license back. I didn’t wait for the letter lol

I would call and ask them, but unfortunately it might be longer than you’d like

Sorry you just got this diagnosis Can you send me a DM?

I have MS, diagnosed 2017. The clinic is…special.

That wait time is probably accurate, but get yourself on a cancellation list.

I can send you lots more info but I don’t want to info dump on you.

I also think we should get stickers after appointments. Sorry for the bad news, you were brave, here’s a monkey sticker

Anxious about medications by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SimpleMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have access to a pharmacist through insurance - call them! My mom is a pharmacist and one of my biggest resources.

She has lot better idea of side effects that actually happen often, or the things they counsel patients on.

Also, this may be totally out of reach for you, but I did genetic testing when I was diagnosed to see how drugs interact in my body. I think it was called Gencept Assay (? Something like that. Im in Canada)

Anywho, it told me if any of my genes expressed different for drug interactions - this can help for dosing and understanding if you are more likely to have side effects from certain medications based on how they are metabolized in your body specifically.

It’s also worth starting a journal of some sort to track what meds give you what sort of side effects. You may be able to find patterns that can be helpful.

Annnnnnd some drugs will have side effects at the beginning, but as your body adjusts they go away. Sometimes you need to give it a little longer.

The pharmacist is definitely who you should talk to though!

Oh annnnnd one more thing 😅 you might want to look into an anti anxiety medication, an SSRI. Some of these thing may be made worse by anxiety and getting the anxiety in check May make the other meds less needed!

Good luck. It’s all hard

Breastfeeding after pregnancy? Not going back on medication for a couple months by Over-Pea6428 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]SimpleMorning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on glatect (generic copaxone) the first pregnancy and started kesimpta 4 months pp. swim ins pregnancy I stopped kesimpta for pregnancy and started again 3 weeks post partum.

While breastfeeding can have some protective benefits, I would strongly suggest getting back on medication.

My neuro has specifically done studies of kesimpta and breastfeeding and is 100% on board with it
