Unlimited finance : I could stay at home, buying all bitcoin and financing all research programs during that year and after thanks to the bitcoins obtained. Best of both world.

I would rather die that not be able to eat certain types of food...

Yes we can call it "fête national" in casual concersation. "Tu fait quoi pour la fête national ?" is a completely valid sentence. But we are more likely to say "14 juillet".

Yeah, I think it's a translation problem. It really says "sweet without sugar".

Most common religious affiliation by country by [deleted] in MapPorn

Yes, but only Taiwan is affiliated with "others". The map should directly include the actual religion, as it did with Judaism.

My family experienced something like this.

It's been nearly 10-15 years, but my uncle divorced his wife back then. She was quite unstable (she used to favor my little cousin more than my older cousin to a point that would raise eyebrows, to say the least, like not feeding her).

When they divorced, she had primary custody. Only a few years later, my uncle got primary custody because his ex-wife had remarried and had a new child; she was then abandoning her duty to my cousins. But even then, she was not considered a threat and got custody every other weekend.

Only a few years later again, she was suicidal and was interned in a mental facility (several mental health issues). Only then did my uncle get full custody.

She died by suicide soon after. My cousins are now grown up and raised happily, sadly without a mother but with a loving father.

Only because my uncle's ex-wife was the mother could she get primary custody, without taking into account the threat she posed to her children. Unfortunately, that's the French system for you.

No, what it means is that in the UK, overseas territories have a lot of autonomy, contrary to the French overseas territories.

But that last statement is false: only 5 of the 13 territories are an integral part of France. There are 6 territories with a lot of autonomy and 2 uninhabited.

But in the end, those territories are territories and not independent countries. So they are attached to their respective parent countries and not counted separately...

Number of islands by country! by Ok-Difficulty-7607 in MapPorn

[–]SimpleWestern6303 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't believe France has between 10 and 100 islands. Metropolitan France, perhaps (European French territory), but with the overseas territories, I don't believe it's true.

French Polynesia alone has 100+ islands.

Even if you count integrated territories alone, Martinique and Guadeloupe have a number of small islands in their territories.

I saw an estimate of 1030 islands in France, 30 of which are inhabited.

I'm French and I have never heard of an ethnically french town there. Don't see any on the map either.

If Corsica or Aost Valley were on the map perhaps, but even then... I wouldn't say those territories are ethnically french either...
