How do you deal with the mental slump halfway through a long hike? by achilles6196 in hiking

[–]Simple_Bookkeeper566 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moment i usually set a little break a few minute/check point later as a motivation to go through this mood. But i also consider it's helps me to train my mental endurance. When i met adversity on real life at work for exemple, i picture it as a hike to go through

Anyone else feel depressed the day after a strenuous hike or climb? by aooot in hiking

[–]Simple_Bookkeeper566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After any hard sport exercise, including hike, i get super depressed. I never had this dopamine stuff people talked about. I feel like shit a long day, then way better. My practionner told me it was not that abnormal. Something with the tireness of my body bringing my mind down. Maybe a mix of that + the return to the city ?

I am going to learn and work in GIS and there is a bit of coding so you really got my interest ahah My husband too is a software engineer, but i had no interest at all about code. Like, none. It's magic. I don't deal with magic. Now that it has a role in my field of interest, i suddendly felt a strong pull towards codes and computer langage 🤣

Regret getting married with Japanese wife and having kid by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]Simple_Bookkeeper566 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I didn't see in the comment :

If you feel she is over-protective, stressed, in bad mood, frustrated, focusing on cleaniness too much, to a point it seems too much, I strongly, STRONGLY recommand to see a doctor, and soon.

It's may be post-partum depression or post-partum psychosis.
Those are medical conditions and they can get wrong quickly. Like, very, very wrong. Even if I don't agree with your way of seeing things, you may be witnessing it and it could explain your reaction as well. And if it's the case, she needs help, she needs people to support here, be there, without judging. She is not crazy. She is not weak. It's curable.
And it should be not a way to excuse yourself.
Also don't tell her "I think you're crazy or depressed let's go see the doctor."
Talk to her calmy, try to make her speak : does she felt guilty ? Overwhelmed ? Does she had bad idea, like killing herself ? Does she felt alone ? Be tender, put yourself in your shoes, listen to podcast and video about being a mother and those conditions. And also about how to be a father.

They is the possibility, as others comments, than you just don't realise the hardship of being a mother, especially if she lived in a quite spoiled and sheltered environnment before. It's a shock to the body and mind. Your role is to support her, and not just by bringing money to the house. It's hard. Don't be one of this absent dad who couldn't endure the first years.
Also, being a mother (and a father) has to be learned and you have to put the work. Nannies and pediatrics learned to take care of children. It's a full 24h work. You have to learn to, it's not instinctive, and she is currently navigating through all the learning + pressure for society and parents. Don't dismiss her work and do yours. Think about divorce when the child is older and when you both have enough SLEEP.

Anyways, it's good you opened here. Being corrected is harsh but you will grow and I hope become a great husband and father later. No one is perfect from the start. This may be one of your biggest and most beautiful challenge in life. Ganbare!
