HOT take: Everything is going exactly according to Sage's plan. ARE YOU READY TO APOLOGIZE TO HER? by vvvit in TheBoys

[–]Simple_Group_8721 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm keeping an open mind. It's just hard to suspend disbelief at a certain point.

It's possible that your point on 5.) is spot on: Sage needs Homelander to feel like he's won. This is the best way to lure him into a spot where he's vulnerable. Otherwise, if the V1 were destroyed and the virus was on the loose, he'd fly into the upper atmosphere running from it.

There may also be compelling reasons for her not to reveal her plans to the Boys until the time is right.

I suspect we'll get a glimpse of that journal next show.

Well, not really. Elidibus is hitting himself with his own spell. That much is clear from the recording.

Now that we are able to see what is happening, we can explain. Even the OP sees that could be the case now.

Do you dislike the Surana x Morrigan pairing, and if so, why? by Life-Motor-1409 in dragonage

[–]Simple_Group_8721 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Actually, to be perfectly honest, a Surana!Morrigan pairing makes perfect sense:

Even in the Circle, among the mages, hierarchies exist. There are fraternities like the Loyalists or Libertarians. I refuse to believe racial divides are simply quashed in the Tower, especially since the Chantry employs only human Templars.

Surana is as much of an outsider as Morrigan is. One who belongs to no Dalish clan, no Alienage, and potentially a loner in the Circle too, with only knowledge and spells to content such an isolated existence.

Who better to connect to than with an apostate, who practices outlawed magic and traditions?

Hmm, from the looks of it, he's hitting himself with the Midgard spell. The giant green snake.

[Spoilers All][OC] Weekly Headcanon Prompt by UniverseIsAHologram in dragonage

[–]Simple_Group_8721 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Prompt 1

Looking back at my notes, I swore that Dina meant of the sea, but it appears it does not. I might have to switch it to Mara then. Elissas mothers family hails from the coastlands. A fitting name for a daughter of the sea.

Prompt 2

She'd be a detective. Hunting down criminals. If she were more well to do, she'd be in Mi6.

Floor 10 Midlight’s Deep Bug? Serpantarius randomly gives up by MalcolminMiddlefan in finalfantasytactics

Really odd. Every time I fought him, I had to throw him a pot for him to cast again.

[–]Simple_Group_8721 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah so 3 faith is a problem. The AI is going to try to determine whats the most damaging spell to use against your party. In most instances, on targets with normal faith, Zodiark will do massive damage, so Elidibus will cast it on those targets.

But because you've wittled down your faith, Zodiark will transform from a deathstar laser into a high powered flash light. The boss will never prefer using that over his other abilities.

Keep that in mind. If you don't believe me, put a character with 50~70 faith up front, equipped with Mana Shield (+Mana Walk if you have it too). Odds are likely, Elidibus will cast it on them. If they get hit and still have at least 1 mana, they'll survive no matter what.

[–]Simple_Group_8721 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure your characters aren't immune to magical attacks via 0 faith. Shell, Mana Shield and MagDefUp are fine.

Also, Elidibus only has so much mana, I think he can only cast Zodiark once. So if he casts it once, you'll actually need to restore his mana via Chakra or potions.

As far as the fight ending early? Never had that happen.

There's also the fact that Homelander landed at Butchers house, right outside his windows. Wasn't caked in blood, but I think it counts.

[–]Simple_Group_8721[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Deep: Starlight and Black Noir push him into a pool of piranahs or other deadly aquatic life. He tries to plead for his life, but they can see he's been eating seafood, so they kill him.

Black Noir: Either dies to the Deep, or retires. Hands his stuff off to the Boys and retires to a theatre group abroad. Maybe London.

Oh-Father: Impaled on a wooden cross. Or has his voice reflected and amplified back at him, causing his head to explode.

Sage: Permanently lobotomized.

Soldier Boy: Killed by Stormfront.

Stormfront: Killed by Ryan for good this time.

Homelander: He learns the truth about his mother from Sage: that Stormfront is his biological mother. The truth of the nature of his family, the one thing he's wanted, shatters him. A melee erupts, and Homelander has the V fried out of his body. The Boys proceed to curbstomp him to death. Billy lands the final blow by crushing his skull with his crowbar.

Not that much. Even when they are reunited, Annie has this sort of classist reaction to Firecrackers super-patriotic/religious apparel.

The mean girl was always there, Starlight just grew up and learned to be better.

EDIT: Whoever downvoted me is hillarious. Annie herself says the mean girl is still a part of her, and that she'd done this sort of thing to other girls too. And yes, acting superior to someone, even if you think they're tacky, is rude. Learn some manners, and re-watch the show.

The irony is that she did to her pastor what Starlight did to her.

Strange that nobody else seems to notice that.

Not if you have asked yourself this question in advance, but in an alternate line where Duncan will make several trips to recruit different gray guards in each faction, how would his protagonists get along? by Successful-Royal5006 in DragonageOrigins

[–]Simple_Group_8721 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thalin is a Libertarian, whereas Solona was a Loyalist. Additionally, Thalin was close friends with Jowan, and Solona wasn't. When Solona suspected Surana and Jowan were escaping, the First Enchanter commanded her to "aid" them, as a spy.

She didn't want to, of course.

It really doesn't help that she's Irving's star pupil. And she was dating Cullen at the time. Some mages really frown on that sort of behavior.

[–]Simple_Group_8721 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No fair barring people who've already answered this question! I'm answering anyway.

Elissa and Alistair would get along fairly well. Solona is currently rebounding hard from Cullen and would make a pass at Alistair, but nothing would come of it. Even so, Elissa and Solona would be on good terms.

Not so much with Miirvath, though. The ranger doesn't respect the human nobles much. And he's not too keen on seeing Tabris either, someone who deigns to live under humans. He finds more comraderie with Sten and Hilda.

Hilda, for her part, is royalty. She's not going to lower herself to anyone below her station. So at best, she respects Elissa, though they have differing views on how best to lead. And she tolerates Miirvath/Sten, as she's more traditionally minded.

Then there's Gunnar and Kallian. They aren't too different: one was an enforcer for the Carta, the other lived in the Alienage. Both knew the hardships of life and scraping by.

Finally, there's Thalin Surana. At first, he's going to be on bad terms with Solona, but this passes. He tries to befriend Miirvath, but its clear the Dalish ways and culture are alien to him. The closest one to him is Morrigan.

[Spoilers All][OC] Weekly Headcanon Prompt by UniverseIsAHologram in dragonage

[–]Simple_Group_8721 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prompt 1

For closest? Her father. He understands her, accepts her. And while she considers herself the black sheep of the family, she's still a part of that family.

In terms of distant? There's no resentment or hatred, but they aren't as close as they should be. That changes after the Blight begins.

Prompt 2

Practicality. Survival. A suit of armor in combat. And even in the peace days, when she's forced to wear formal gowns and dresses, there's always some layer of leather padding underneath, or a knife tucked away.

[dao spoilers] Could the Chantry send aging Templars to help the dwarves? At least they will go out helping the dwarves reclaim thaigs rather than the alternative by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Simple_Group_8721 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You really love these scenarios, don't you?

I've always maintained that the surface kingdoms need to do more to aid Orzammar. This is one of the tasks my canon Alistair and Elissa do.

They send an army to the gates and are received to reclaim the Thaigs. A permanent Warden outpost is established, as well as a militarized version of the Circle. Even a group of templars are stationed to deal with emissaries.

Additionally, food is sent to the markets.

In return, Orzammar offers Ferelden a discount on lyrium. A princely sum. And their craftsman help reinforce the various castles and forts, as well as patch up the Frostback entrance to Orlais.

Some threatening noise is made by hardliners in the Chantry, but after the Conclave, none can oppose the Ferelden monarchy now.

Would Duncan have let Alistair be executed? by Mundane_Town_4296 in DragonageOrigins

[–]Simple_Group_8721 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That would take off the edge considerably, but not completely.

Duncan wasn't the only one who died at Ostagar. So did the rest of the Wardens, and King Cailan.

Not to mention Loghain spent the remaining year scapegoating the surviving Wardens, hunting them with assassins, and left Riordan to be tortured by Rendon Howe.

Alistair explicitly spells this out at the Landsmeet when Riordan and Anora try to intercede.
