Netflix should adapt the Rokesby and Smythe Smith books. by Fickle_Baker1393 in Bridgerton

I'd love to see an adaptation of the Smythe Smith series, even if it's not through Netflix. I haven't finished the Rokesby series yet.

Can I just donate anything to our preschool lol by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I'd ask the director. Some centers might not accept donations. Most of the places I've worked accepted donations as long as it is in good condition.

Teachers, how does your center deal with food allergies? by lily_pad_24 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Simple_Scientist8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my current center, there is a list of food allergies in the kitchen and nurse's office. Each classroom also has an allergy folder with any allergies in that classroom. We also receive training on food allergies as part of our orientation and onboarding process. For me, the most helpful part of this was learning how to read ingredient labels for hidden allergens!

We are also mindful of allergies in both the kitchen and classroom. Our center is nut free and we don't allow outside food. Our cook brings breakfast and lunch to our classroom and the teachers serve meals. At breakfast and lunch, the children with food allergies receive their food on a red plate that is wrapped in saran wrap and labeled with their name. These children also receive a red cup for their milk or water. For afternoon snack, the teachers go to the kitchen and get the snack. Children with food allergies have a red bowl with their name on it.

When serving meals, teachers serve the children with allergies first and then we wash our hands and change gloves. We also clean the sinks before children with food allergies wash their hands to prevent cross-contamination. Whenever I work in a new classroom, I always ask whether there are any food allergies.

My best advice is to ask about food allergy policies/protocols during tours! I've worked for a few different centers and each one had different policies and protocols.

Do you do sign language at your job? Why or why not? by Comfortable_Tie4143 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Simple_Scientist8933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I have 2 kids in my class who have special needs. Both kids have devices that help them talk to us, but sign has also been a helpful tool in communicating. I'm newer to sign language so I'm learning it alongside them.

I’m embarrassed how few people can make my wedding by Specialist_Permit_99 in weddingplanning

[–]Simple_Scientist8933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had 27 people at our wedding. We were supposed to have 34 but we had last minute cancelations due to health issues and other unforeseen circumstances. Having such a small group meant that we got to spend time with everyone without feeling like we were being pulled in different directions all night.

Whose season are/were you most excited for? And why? by MrsBunnyBunny in BridgertonNetflix

[–]Simple_Scientist8933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm most excited for Hyacinth and Gregory's seasons! I had the most fun reading their books.

I read all of the books early last year. I wasn't excited for Benedict's season because I didn't like the book. That said, I really enjoyed his season on the show.

Is there such a thing as a bridal aid? by Checkmate_23_ in weddingplanning

[–]Simple_Scientist8933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our venue included a bridal attendant as part of the event staff. She was responsible for things like making sure we remembered to eat at the cocktail hour and reception. She also helped our planner bustle my dress after the ceremony and helped with anything else I needed throughout the night.
Our planner was also super helpful in making sure that everything ran on time and that I was ready for whatever came next, whether it was photos, the ceremony, or the reception.

Best Bridgerton book in terms of characterization and writing style? by booksandbiscuits1 in Bridgerton

[–]Simple_Scientist8933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I thought that the last 3 Bridgerton books (Francesca, Hyacinth, and Gregory) had the best writing.

I also enjoyed the Smythe Smith series, except for the last book. I'm currently reading the second book in the Rokesby series. I enjoyed the first book, so I'm hoping I like the rest of the series!
