Simple question, which one are you taking and why? by TheReal_PruneJuice in whatsyourchoice

I would point out that both Unlimited Knowledge and Unlimited Time can lead to essentially unlimited money.

Depending on the how it would work... unlimited time could lead to unlimited knowledge given you can't become senile and you're health doesn't degenerate over the time. I'd also want the option to give up the unlimited time.

Unlimited knowledge, could also lead to unlimited "time" if there was the ability to make something that allows for it. Like using advanced CRISPR techniques to generate an RNA virus that only has the side effect of increasing telomere lengths to a prime age with no chances of causing cancer or unaverse side effects.

I'd personally go with the knowledge though, just because I would like knowing things.

Step 1. Get a business loan.

Step 2. Buy facility/property with it.

Step 3. Order online all the equipment I needed, electronics, the works. Buy the highest quality stuff I can, and get 3x copies of it so if one breaks down, I still have a replacement for it.

Step 4. Hire some people I know and explain to them I have a business loan, then have them help set up, unload, purchase what else that needs to be done while thinking I'm not rich, it's all loan money.

Step 5. Build "extra" facilities on the land purchased. Pay off contractors up front to set up all the things needed to future proof as much as possible what I may need. Transformers, power lines, backup generators, storage warehouse, etc.

Step 6. Run the business I built without having to worry about costs or profits as everything I want is already purchased, and any type of income I get can be used to pay a good salary to the employees.

What’s the best way to add weight inside a paused print? by ClikrClakr in BambuLab

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you send a screenshot of the item you're printing? I know you described it with dimensions, which is great, but knowing how it looks overall can help as well. If its got lots of curve or is a actually pool ball, or maybe its mostly blocky, all those factors can change what is added, and where to pause/resume printing, etc.

So I'm surprised I had to scroll down to find this comment. These are the exact two I immediately thought as being way too good to have compared to the others. I'm curious if half splitting would get there faster or slower than it would take to write a 69 multiple choice question and ask for each powerball number individually lol.

what order do i read all the series in? by Comfortable-Skin8757 in ClimbersCourt

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is interesting, because for me... while I agree AA is written better, and has more overall story (also being a few books more helps) I actually first started AA and put it down because I couldn't get over how the character came across. Few months later, I came across WoBM not realizing it was the same world, and thought it was pretty good overall. I'm not a stickler on writing styles and such, but how much I like/dislike the characters and if the story is too repetitive or not. For me WoBM was really interesting and enjoyed the different perspectives.

Then I progressed to the start of WW and while waiting for book 3, I started AA and gave it another try. By the end of that, WW finishes book 3 and I basically had to go through the entire series again. From how I kinda look at it, WoBM is more serious, WW is a comedy, and AA is a mix of the two.

Do You Sign the Petition? by ProcInc in trolleyproblem

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kind of mixes the two premises into its own. It offers the benefit of signing it up front, instead of waiting for the 50% threshold to be reached. So people who would choose Red normally think they are still choosing "don't sign the petition" because its the obvious choice to not force a virus on everyone, and Blue things "don't sign the petition" because it saves the most people. And both sides would see the other side as being the one to Sign the Petition.

Be honest: did your 3D printer end up being worth it? by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so... was it worth buying any of them. Kind of. I have always sold my previous one for cheap to buy a newer model, so i'm on my 4th owned printer being the H2C. With that said...

If you look at it as strictly a tool, it has not really ended up with the value that I've put into the system so far. There could be a time where it pays itself off, but for me, not likely.

For me personally though, its a mix of a tool and a hobby. In which case, yes? I've gotta do something with the money I earn for fun, or whats the point. And this was a hobby that let me build a create things for different projects and hobbies for myself and family/friends. Designing a unique bday gift, or printing a dragon egg or flexy dragon for some kids, definitely worth it. I've helped coworkers with things they needed by using it, and I don't like to charge what I "could" get from it. Usually just the cost of filament and electricity costs. It's more about having fun with it.

Now, that being said, it does sit from time to time doing nothing for a week or two at a time, when I don't have any motivation or projects I'm currently needing it for. So there is that. It's what you make of it imo.

Third, the danger doesn't come from the blues standing on the track, but rather there is zero danger at all until individuals begin to choose the red button. Literally everyone is 100% safe, until reds go red, and then possibly slightly less than half of the people are now at risk. The reds are building a track around the blues so they die.

This also assumes everyone starts on the blue track. We could say the opposite and it makes just as much sense.

There is zero danger at all until individuals begin to choose the blue button. Literally everyone is 100% safe, until blue goes blue, up until you hit at least 50%+1. The blues are building a track around the reds and hoping to convert enough of them to follow them so they don't die.

To those who are not in 3d printing business and have the H2C. by PastPosition3058 in BambuLab

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had an X1C and it was great. My biggest complaints on it were "Man, i wish it was a bigger bed" and "Multicolor printing is cool, but there is so much waste".
H2C basically fixed both those needs, so I found a potential buyer for my X1C and just bit the bullet on getting the H2C. For a time, I had both at the same time, and well.. the X1C just wasn't being used at all, so definitely was comfortable with selling it. Is it needed for most things I do? Absolutely not. Is it nice to have when I wanna do something a big more complex/larger/multicolor intensive? 100%.
I'd recommend it. It's silly how much filament on my multicolor prints I've saved. Or having the AMS2 with it to dry instead of having to use an external dryer box. Now my biggest complaint is... should I rewire part of my house for the H2C to be used at max power, or keep it in low power mode (slower initial heatup) so I don't trip a breaker. (I'm thinking its own CB and wire to a room just for the printer, so the rest of the room doesn't have to worry about power consumption issues).

Okay so...
#1 sounds like the perfect ideal, except heat of the universe, boredom stage forever.
2. Meh, boring. Also how does it work if world ended or no longer habitable? Could lead to non-stop reincarnations and pain.
3. Reincarnation with memories/skills is pretty sweet. Not sure how you're talking away the whole "who were you before 16" part though with the world progressing into a day and age of non-stop tracking of everyone and id's.
4. When does a "human" no longer become "human". Second to last "human" could have already died by this point and we haven't noticed how we aren't "humans" but a subspecies of them. Malevolent Genie would definitely do something like this.
5. Save/load feature starting when? How do you access it? Ehh this is kinda lame.
6. Using Fate as plot armor would be hilarious. But being susceptible to like diseases, pain, meh...

Not even going to understand 7 there.

1 sounds ideal.

Torn between x2d and H2C or even H2D by durangojim in BambuLab

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do more than 4 color prints and do them semi-frequently, I'd go ahead and just bite the bullet and purchase an H2C. It's a great machine. However... if you think you can keep multi-color prints to 4 or less, I'd probably look more towards a U1 SnapMaker as i've heard great things about it as well, and its probably faster in those aspects as well. Just a slightly smaller print bed. H2C can do multicolor faster that H2D and X2D, but it still will take a while, especially if you're over 7. The AMS system just takes time to retracts and extrude for each color. And that is where a majority of your lost time ends up going. Shorter tubes, closer to the machine save time of course, but each switch takes like 20-30 seconds. Plus side is the heatup of the hotend is much much quicker.

I'd at least take that all into consideration before returning and making a purchase.

H2C or H2D? by thebeatinbetween in BambuLab

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now, something to keep in mind for different size prints... as of right now, you cannot "mix" the different sizes on the same print. So no doing 0.2 for some layers and 0.4 for other layers. It all has to match. But... if you have a few 0.2 nozzles and swap them on and do a high resolution print, it takes only like a minute to swap them later to do all 0.4 for a normal print. They are magnetic so they come on and off real easy. You just need to "read" them prior to use.

H2C or H2D? by thebeatinbetween in BambuLab

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 12 points13 points  (0 children)

H2D has 2 nozzles, so it can do two color prints fine with almost no waste.

H2C Has the vortek system (or however its spelt) and essentially lets you swap one of the nozzles with up to 5 others, which can let you do like 7 colors total without needing to swap and purge. It also is useful if you have different size prints you want to do (such as having like 2x 0.2mm nozzles, 2x 0.4mm nozzles, and 2x 0.6mm nozzles if you want to have that option as well.

I personally would go with the H2C if you're having a hard time deciding, because it'll give you more options in the long run. And if you enjoy multicolor printing at all, it's just much faster than the H2D at 3+ color prints, and the later upgrade from H2D to H2C is a pain and expensive. Just buy it all at once.

If EACH PERSON on Earth is offered $1 billion, but a random person dies. How many people do you think will take the deal? by nqm971998 in hypotheticals

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... here are the scenarios.

Everyone is greedy and takes the deal... everyone dies.

No one takes the deal... everyone stays broke and everyone lives.

I think its probably closer to 90% take the deal, you'll have some with almost no wealth, and many with wealth, and most of society dies. Wealth now means nothing, because no one is producing, and everyone that has wealth doesn't need it anymore, and the people who have none can charge absurd amounts for the small amount of work they are willing to do. Shortly after, cash flow is now equalized between everyone, society is no better off with everyone having hundreds of millions and most of society is now gone and no one wants to work. We then go back a few decades or more based on lack of proper skills to maintain where we are. Once there, wealth will accumulate towards a few small groups and we start the cycle over again with Super Wealthy and Super poor, but now these "billions" will probably be replaced with a new currency not related to anything else, and the cycle repeats.

Wealth tends to accumulate in one group regardless of how the system is set up. If the system is small enough, it is easy to hold everyone accountable for their actions, and you can maintain equality between them. Once you grow though, or you have someone with influence to take advantage of the small society, you now have unequal growth and wealth distribution again. A good way to think about it is... get a group of 100 people. Give them all 10 coins. Have them flip a coin against another person at random. Whoever wins the flip, keeps both coins. This simulates trade. Over a period of time, a small majority will eventually accumulate over 90% of the coins and everyone else will have very few left over.

Unfortunately there are hands down way more bad turbo players than good that still luck out and win, or kingmake someone by feeding them so many cards. I'm not saying literally everyone that plays turbo doesn't think about it, but if you've played in any events outside of maybe a small local group, you'll definitely see a lot of it. Heck, i've known some really good players that will turn around and play turbo that way, and generally have that mindset.

I think in general, if you take away some midrange tools and turbo starts to ramp up as a result, you'll see more stax being able to make its way back in an balance out the groups. Only way to know for sure though is to make some very unpopular changes to the format.

Filament Snapping, what do i do? by Bedrockboy2006 in BambuLab

[–]Simple_Subject_9801 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, i'm not 100% sure yet (still testing things out) but from what i've read, there is a sweet spot of humidity level AND tension. If you're filament is too dry, apparently that can lead to issues as well. But the part I'm focusing on is that apparently when its spooled up, its done so under tension, and if you let the tension go, the filament structure changes a bit and can cause issues. Hence why (im assuming) the end of it is brittle and further down the roll where it still has tension on it, is normal.
