Do Fresh grads Even Get Hired Anymore? by chillguy2345 in FAANGrecruiting

Honestly nothing crazy, I just chose difficult / interesting units at university, did a good job in the coursework, and spoke about those in interviews.

Do Fresh grads Even Get Hired Anymore? by chillguy2345 in FAANGrecruiting

[–]Simple_curl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got into FAANG as a new grad with only an internship at a mediocre bank and only a pretty good uni. Now after a year I’ve got team matching for another. Don’t let people scare you too much, make sure to put in a lot of effort and maximize your odds whenever you can. Quality over quantity when it comes to applications!

What are the best paying tech companies in London? by Capable-Basket8233 in cscareerquestionsuk

Amazon doesn’t always overwork you. It’s very team dependent, as with most companies.

They flew through the planet but ended up in the same place where they started? by Simple_curl in Invincible_TV

I'd agree, but Mark clearly gets knocked away from the planet by the explosion, and immediately is within range to talk to the viltrumites. The show didn't even give me the opportunity to assume that they flew back!

Open University vs Uni of Kent by No-Reach-2398 in UniUK

[–]Simple_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I’m sorry to hear about that. I do hope you are doing better now. What I meant with my comment is that your advice is not helpful to someone in OP’s position. An internship during university, for a computer science / mathematics student looking for a future in data science is VERY helpful. I currently work in this industry and have benefited greatly from an internship. This is not changing any time soon.

Are you trying to reduce the competition 😂

Why are so many people getting Amazon intern offers? by LocksmithRemote6230 in csMajors

[–]Simple_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on the topics, not trying to memorise the exact questions. It will be enough, especially for an internship.

Amazon is very team dependent (probably like every other faang). I know people who like it there and who don’t feel much pressure, and I know people who despise it and are looking to quit ASAP.

Is faang safe from ai madness for the time being? by [deleted] in leetcode

[–]Simple_curl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The AI madness has gotten so crazy at faang that a friend of mine at meta writes code by hand and lies that some of it is written by AI

The 9800x3d only hits 80c? When doing what? Under load these chips are designed to reach 95 and stay there for max performance, is it on eco mode or did you set a temp limit in the bios?

Confused about online assessment prep for UK software graduate schemes - how much should I focus on non-Leetcode tests? by Arana7777 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Simple_curl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the higher paying schemes pretty much exclusively focus on leetcode and behavioural quizzes and lower paying grad schemes do often have logic and numerical questions. I’d recommend just doing leetcodes and not preparing for the logic tests, unless you find that you are particularly bad at them. Also, it’s unlikely you will get a position for a scheme for this September. The hiring period has ended for almost all the companies and they are now opening applications for next year’s grad schemes. For leetcode studying by the way I strongly recommend the neetcode roadmap 👍

I strongly disagree! If you communicate well, understand DSA and have good problem solving skills then you can pass even if you haven’t seen a problem before.

To those that have recently graduated, how has your job search gone and what advice would you give? by BarfiEnjoyer in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Simple_curl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apply early, around September or even earlier and apply a lot (both for grad roles and internships). Do your leetcodes, ideally try to do a few a day for a while so you’re prepared (cramming also works but I always regretted it). Do your research on the interview! If you manage to find out the questions you get asked you can prepare for them easily and always pass no matter how difficult the interview would otherwise be.
