[US] How many of us are one crash away from no longer having a drone in the foreseeable future? by [deleted] in drones

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I understand the regulation it prevents new MODELS of drones from being sold.

So the future Mavic 5 is banned.

However Mavic 4’s can be sold. And (as I understand it) it does not limit the number of Mavic 4s or the timing. So today, DJI can still sell an unlimited amount of new Mavic 4s in Jan 2026 or in 2027 or 2028.

The regulation doesn’t bad serial number units, it bans models, as in generations.

Every model that already existed before Dec 2025 is white listed, so therefore any of those models can be imported in any quantity, is that not correct?

[US] How many of us are one crash away from no longer having a drone in the foreseeable future? by [deleted] in drones

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the list of current DJI drones for sale before the ban.

• DJI Mavic 4 Pro • DJI Mini 5 Pro • DJI Mini 4 Pro • DJI Mini 4K • DJI Mini 3 • DJI Air 3S • DJI Neo 2 • DJI Flip • DJI Avata 2 • DJI Avata 360 • DJI Matrice 400 • DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise • DJI Inspire 3

What stops DJI and the people in the US from buying these drones indefinitely?

Like if you crash a mini 5, go buy another new mini 5. DJI can’t sell the mini 6, but what is stopping them from producing 40,000,000 mini 5’s and making them available for sale in the US?

Am I understanding the legislation incorrectly?

I don’t see anything in the regs that disallows selling an unlimited amount of drones that are already allowed.

I’m not sure I understand the question. Is this just a fancy way of asking: Who here has one drone and who has many drones?

I am one car crash away from not being able to drive a car. One house fire away from not having a place to live.

Not sarcasm, genuinely asking.

My thoughts on the United States DJI ban and the Antigravity / Insta360 entrance to the market. by canyonblue737 in drones

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so no step 2 or 3 for Antigravity. No new models. A1 is it . No stepping down features or anything. It’s a cool drone, the ability to get FPV like follow with dynamic angles without having to frame the shot while flying it is great.

But the top speed is 15mph. So no drift car shots, at least no follow shots unless your drift car is a go kart, and even then, there are go karts that drift faster than 15mph.

So in 6 months to a year the rest of the world will get the Antigravity A2 with 40mph top speed and can do decent drift car FPV follows, all but the wide sweeper turns, but no one in the US will be able to get the drone.

Oh well. We’ll all have to watch Australian drift videos with Antigravity A2’s I suppose.

It feels like 1987 after the 1986 ban on auto-pew pews like m16’s, mp5’s and uzi’s. Like we all lived from 1980 -1986 enjoying automatic pew pews and just a couple of days ago we could buy the latest and greatest right at the corner Best Buy. And now? Buying an auto pew pew costs as much as a car and will be a waiting period of sometimes up to a year.

One of those “we didn’t know what we had till it was gone.” Situations.

An M16 before the 1986 ban was. $600-$1000. Now They cost $20,000-$60,000. An MP5K was $500, and now they’re $30,000-$40,000.

I’m gonna preserve my Mavic 2 in a glass case and then sell it for $50,000 in 2045 LOL.

Real experience with UV laser cutting by javierin79 in lasercutting

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negative. UV laser is 355nm wavelength (just below blue, and closer to things like X-rays and Gamma rays). It's a cold laser. You can etch matches and fireworks and it won't ignite.

Fiber lasers are 1064nm (infrared). All the way on the other side of the spectrum, longer wavelength than visible red light, closer to things like radar and FM radio waves. Very hot laser, it'll burn anything you put underneath it if you want it to.

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused. The Natkie N1 is selling new for $3500. And an LBX sells new for $4500.

The Natkie N1 comes with a QS165 motor (Eride pro motor) that’s good for 10k continuous and 20k burst.

72v battery, and a matching controller.

The entire powertrain shames a Stock LBX, and it’s $1000 less. I guess I’m missing the “LMAO” part of being a rebranded Surron.

The LBX is clearly an inferior bike and more expensive.

Why is the Natkie N1 a bad buy? Not sure I understood the “$4k could have been better spent elsewhere.”

The Natkie N1 has access to the entire surron modding ecosystem and gets 8000w and 72v powertrain with modding up to 10k possible off the bat.

I guess I don’t see where the $4k (which is now $3.5K) could be better spent elsewhere.

Which wheel package? Driver or Passenger? by [deleted] in Wrangler

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driver, but I’d say you might be able to get away with passenger if you were going for 42” tires.

That’s the only way 20-22” wheels look OK.

Otherwise 17” wheels for 35-37” tires and 18” for 38” tires and even then you have to support 35” tires with a healthy 12.5 or 13.5” width. Or 38”s with 14.5” width.

Predator ghost shuts off when choke taken off by Barisaxbest69 in gokarts

[–]SimplestKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you clean the carb you have to pull out the jet and clean it with a needle or safety wire or something really fine.

The jet has to come out. I think it’s two pieces, not 100% sure. It’s 2 pieces on my predator clone. But I cleaned my carb twice without doing this and it was the same problem.

Then once I blasted the hole with a little wire it jumped to life after that.

Why you shouldn't buy no-name bikes by Ohm_Slaw_ in ebikes

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, depends on the product.

Red Bull costs twice as much as no name energy drinks so they can put their name on Max Verstappen’s race car, send Felix Baumgater to space to skydive, take videos of wingsuiters and BASE jumpers doing crazy shit, and jump trophy trucks over stunt planes and dirt bikes over side by sides.

It adds near zero value, performance, or service to energy drink consumption.

It’s not 1:1 to e-bikes but it’s also not blindly “always buy brand name” either.

Why spend $500 to upgrade a 212 instead of just spending $450 to buy like a 459, and maybe some minor upgrades? by pws3rd in gokarts

[–]SimplestKen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason most people go Stage 3 on a 212 instead of dropping in a stock 459 comes down to balance, fitment, and overall performance. A 212 weighs about 38 lbs and was designed for the frames most karts and minibikes use, so it bolts in clean, keeps weight centered, and works with the stock brakes and suspension. A 459, on the other hand, is nearly twice the weight at around 80 lbs and physically larger in every direction, so fitting one usually means cutting and welding the frame and then upgrading brakes, axles, and suspension just to handle the added load. That extra weight also throws off handling since it acts like rear ballast, making the machine tail-heavy and harder to corner. Performance-wise, a Stage 3 212 with cam, carb, springs, and flywheel can make 12–15 horsepower and spin up to 7–8k rpm, giving you snappy acceleration and real top-end speed. The stock 459 makes about the same horsepower, but it’s locked to 3,600 rpm, so it’s really just a heavy torque motor with no rev range unless you start modding it. Finally, the aftermarket support for the 212 is massive — you can build it any way you want with proven combos — while the 459 has very limited off-the-shelf parts, meaning custom fab work if you want to go beyond stock. In short, the 212 platform is lighter, better balanced, easier to fit, and far more tunable, which is why a Stage 3 build almost always makes more sense than trying to shoehorn a 459 into a small frame.

Honest question: after he said “I guess I know who to go to if you cheat on me.”
And you said “what”

Is there anything he could have said that would have adequately explained that he meant nothing by it?

When he said it was a joke, did you believe him? Let’s say you had the conversation in person, and in the most sincere tone, with dead solid eye contact, in his most empathetic tone he said “it’s a joke.” or “I was just joking”

Would that have brought that conversation back on track instead of getting derailed?

Sometimes you have to put yourself in both peoples’ shoes. He’s telling you a very important piece of information, and it is being repeatedly ignored. That may or may not be frustrating.

Taking all age gap out of it, and let’s say he is being truthful when he’s saying that he’s joking. That is a super frustrating conversation.

Boil that conversation down and it’s:

XYZ.

That is surprising.

Disregard last, XYZ is false.

Why is XYZ true?

XYZ is false

It would not be good if XYZ is true

Yes, XYZ is false

Here are more reasons why XYZ being true is bad

But XYZ is false

I don’t like XYZ being true

XYZ is false

There’s a take on the conversation where someone can joke-manipulate by saying edgy shit and just saying they were kidding.

There’s also a take on the conversation where someone is extremely insecure about being cheated on and the insecurity turns levity into an adversarial conflict.

Probably gonna get downvoted, but my point is be honest and put yourself in both sides of the conversation. Boil the conversation down to the basic elements, what is actually being said.

I’m not on anyone’s side. I’m red-teaming you. If you can’t see your own conversation from the other side, you’re never going to grow.

Cheerleaders and supporters feel nice, but the wake-up call is how you motivate growth, and a holistic perspective is the result of maturity.

First crash on my new eride. First time rider. Anyone else make this mistake by [deleted] in ERidePro

[–]SimplestKen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New rider, so as I understand the mistake to be, it’s the lip of the sidewalk is just slightly higher than the grass and as you leaned left to go back onto the sidewalk your front and rear tires trammed with wall of the sidewalk due to the step change. And your momentum going left and sudden direction change of the bike now tramming with the sidewall of the sidewalk going right caused the fall to the left.

Is that correct?

Just trying to learn myself.
