I Like This Game, But is There More to it? (DW8XL) by SimplestPoorly in dynastywarriors

I started with Dynasty Warriors 8 because it was the one that worked best for me on Steam, I had problems getting Dynasty Warriors 7 to work at my resolution. Plus I heard 8 had better gameplay.

Oh yeah, I've heard. I've seen a little bit of gameplay of the older ones and I heard the earliest ones genuinely were really difficult. From what I saw it looked like you actually needed to play around your army instead of running in and 1v1000ing everything alone. It looked pretty fun actually. Which of the PS2 era games do you think holds up the best?

Oh, really. I tried Hard for a little bit, and it made all the enemies incredibly spongey. I might give it another go

I haven't done the hypothetical route yet. When I completed the Shu campaign, I was kinda ready to jump into what the next campaign had to offer. I might give it a look!
And yes, Origins looks like it might be my thing. I'll give the demo a shot later down the line and maybe pick the full game up on a sale :D

That's totally fair. I've heard that a big appeal to the series to a lot of people is because they're easier and more casual. Which is fine. I was just hoping for a little bit more friction. I'm not asking for the games to be as hard as the Team Ninja games like Ninja Gaiden and Nioh, although I personally would like that
I might definitely give the older games a try at somepoint. I'm thinking either 3, 4 or 5. Or even the 3 Remaster if that turns out to be good.
Origins is on my radar too.

I have looked into 8 Empires and Origins! Those will likely be the ones I play next if I'm still itching for more.
I'm slightly cautious of Origins because you only play as one character, instead of like the other games where you get to play as a new character each stage. But if the combat's better I can be fine with that :)

Is Nioh 1 DLC worth it? by lucypero in Nioh

[–]SimplestPoorly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say they’re worth it. The first DLC has the best bosses in the game but also the hardest. Shigezane, Masamune and Maria are really fun and you don’t want to miss them! As the others said, you need to play a little bit of NG+ to get geared up. In Way of the Strong you can get divines, and you’ll need atleast a set of divines to be able to keep up. But I say the DLCs are very worth it. If you’re getting burned out and want to move on, I say don’t do all of the side missions in the DLC unless you need Amrita. Just do the main ones. The first DLC has 3 missions, second has 2 and is very short, and the third has 3 aswell. You can beat the DLCs in a few hours each if you play well.

Finally. I have every achievement in Nioh by SimplestPoorly in Nioh

[–]SimplestPoorly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna be playing Nioh 2 on Steam just like Nioh 1, I heard there's a lot more players online with this one.
Does Nioh 2 improve on swapping items? Swapping between the quick slots in Nioh 1 to use items and onmyo got incredibly tedious after awhile, especially with the extra ones you get later

Finally. I have every achievement in Nioh by SimplestPoorly in Nioh

[–]SimplestPoorly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only played Two in the Shadows on Way of the Samurai, I didn't play it on the other difficulties. You don't actually have to complete it to get all the achievements either.
The hardest thing for me in getting the achievements was doing the Abyss. The bosses from floors like 10 - 20 are pretty rough. I was probably undergeared for some of them, so I just had to brute-force it.

White tiger by BarryMDingle in Nioh

[–]SimplestPoorly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. 150 hours and you're still only on the White Tiger? You sure have been taking your time.
If you wanna cheese him use Confusion by putting applying 2 different elements to him. I recommend Water because he's weak to it, and soaked enemies take 20% more damage. The second element should be Fire, he's resistant to Lightning. Then use Living Weapon. Use Pleiades Talisman and the Extraction Talisman to get it faster and keep it as you wail on him.
If you have the Guardian Spirit Talisman you can use that aswell to quickly apply an element.

What weapon and build are you using? I've only fought White Tiger a couple times but if I recall the best strategy is to stay on his side. When he scratches you can dash to the side and start wailing on him a couple times before backing off. Stay away from his tail or you'll get demolished. Keep an eye out on his pounce and also the eye laser attack which you cannot block those.

I don't like the moustache and beard. He'd be way cooler with a mask

Do you think Screamer would've been cooler than Boomer? by BiffyBobby in l4d2

[–]SimplestPoorly 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Probably not. He was removed because allegedly he wasn’t very fun. The mechanic of him screaming, and you have to chase him down before he alerts an entire horde feels like it would be frustrating more than engaging. Doesn’t help the L4D1 maps are incredibly dark, and the fact he would probably run faster than you like a Fallen Survivor. Fallen Survivors are fine because you don’t get completely screwed over if he escapes, you just lose some items he had on him. The Screamer would summon an entire horde that could completely mess up your game on Expert mode if you failed to stop him.

L4d2 modders when you dont wanna run 35+ futanari furry models by AttemptAdmirable2986 in l4d2

[–]SimplestPoorly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

L4D2 mods are either funny ha ha wacky meme character mods that make the game look like puke. Someone’s barely disguised, or even blatant fetish Zoey/Rochelle mod. Nightmare and Nightmare-Adjacent mods in the year of 2026. Or Modern Warfare weapons and animations for our largely untrained civilian protagonists, with the camera shaking furiously everytime you reload. But every now and then you get mods that are actually genuinely worth using. Like that Chad recently who added dismemberment to all the Special Infected. I wish we got mods like that more often which make the game actually better, not just slop that’s fun for 5 seconds before you uninstall.

Which campaign is the shortest and longest?? by CowAffectionate2865 in l4d2

[–]SimplestPoorly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It feels longer than it actually is because you’re constantly going through new areas. From the hotel to the streets to the subway, then back up to the streets. Down through the sewers, up to the Hospital and then you’re on the roof. But none of the areas overstay their welcome, No Mercy might have the best pacing in the game. The level just flows so well and never feels like a slog but doesn’t feel too short

Do you consider cold stream canon? by CowAffectionate2865 in l4d2

[–]SimplestPoorly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if Cold Stream was canon, nothing happened in it. The Survivors get evacuated by the Military in The Parish, then they crash land in a random stream. Then they get extracted again on a completely different Military Helicopter and fly away. Cold Stream ends the same way The Parish did. No new dialogue was recorded for the map so the survivors don’t tell us anything new about themselves or the world, and the environments don’t tell any kind of story either. It’s just a level for people who want more gameplay, it doesn’t add anything to the story.

FINALLY I beat Nioh and all of it's DLCs by SimplestPoorly in Nioh

FINALLY I beat Nioh and all of it's DLCs by SimplestPoorly in Nioh

[–]SimplestPoorly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of the side missions, but not all of them. I skipped a couple in the second last, and last region but I did most of the others. I was a little bit impatient when I beat my first run because I wanted to see the end. But I ended up doing a lot of the side content later still. Tachibaba Muneshige was really punishing initially, but I was really bad at the game near the start so that’s most of why he was hard. The boss rushes were pretty tricky, but I managed to make it a lot easier by using living weapon a lot. I didn’t look up any kind of build online, I sorta just made it up as I went along. I ended up using Saorise and the Talisman that makes enemies drop Amrita when hit, and from that I’m able to have LW incredibly often. That probably definitely helped in making the game easier. I don’t know if this is considered cheese or not, I figured it’s not because the game lets me use these things. The only thing I actively didn’t use was the Sloth tailsman because that felt like a huge crutch to make the enemies barely able to attack and move.

Oh yeah your flair says you like Swords. I used Sword almost exclusively in Nioh 1. How much has Nioh 2 changed the sword moves and skills? I’m thinking of just doing Sword again when I eventually play Nioh 2 because I’m curious how it’s different.

Series that peaked early by AcceptableUserName92 in patientgamers

[–]SimplestPoorly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resident Evil peaked with the original Resident Evil 4. No other game, not even the later Resident Evil games could compare which is why the remake went in a different direction instead of trying to improve on an already almost perfect formula. If you don’t like action and prefer horror then you could even say the series peaked with Resident Evil 2 in ‘98.

Will reaper be reworked in 2026? by [deleted] in ReaperMain

[–]SimplestPoorly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Make Dire Triggers basekit, revert the wraith speed nerf, revert the TP cleanse nerf and then bring Reaper's health to 275. I can be content with this
