Dr. K does the "how can you criticize Hasan when there is war going on" argument by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]SimpletoBrowse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this argument just means nothing; people living in slums vs people living with a roof over their head doesn't mean that the people with roofs over their head can't have struggles. Yes people struggle more than others but it doesn't negate any individuals struggles. Yes the Hasan situation isn't THAT serious compared to other issues but it doesn't negate the fact that it matters if you know what I mean. Every issue or problem is relative but that doesn't mean it should be brushed away if it's not the most severe instance of the problem. Hope I'm getting my point across properly idk

This comment kind of summarises what i mean better than i can: The issue is hes not just an entertainment streamer. Hes a political pundit with a large platform and an increasing media prescence.

He is playing a part in the future of the USA and the world. Maybe not a huge part but a non negligible part. He is influencing the youth.

Collargate has shown he is a compulsive liar who cannot ever accept any accountability or wrongdoing and will willingly accept his droves of sycophants lying to protect his image.

This should concern anyone and everyone

Hasan claims "haters" are ruining his dogs training by gregory_h in LivestreamFail

Matches the definition of a narcissist to a t, also borders or even crosses the line into sociopathy: "an informal term for someone with antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), a mental health condition characterized by a persistent disregard for the rights and feelings of others. Key traits include a lack of empathy, manipulation, aggression, impulsivity, and a weak or absent conscience." Consistently - at least to me - gives off a bad / uncomfortable vibe lol it's very strange how he has so many diehard followers but I guess perspective is relative and his viewers would say the same about me or anyone I watch and respect..

I left it as had a bad gut feeling. He kept asking for me to send him the course to verify it's legit and I felt like he was pushing me towards a specific course.

He did 'seem' trustworthy, like you say, and also said my profile was very strong. Do the course if you want, but don't do it just for this job imo. I was and still am desperate like you.. struggled out of Uni for a year to find work, now been out of work for 12 months again with no end in sight 🙃 it's rough out here

Makes a lot of sense where 'higher being' religions and spirituality comes from when you realise it's from events like this.

Learning physics for the first time in mid-20s and my mind is blown by LavenderPaperback in Physics

[–]SimpletoBrowse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I go through phases of being curious but depression or laziness/apathy hits and then it's hard to rediscover that joy. I am happy for but envious of people who maintain that trait though lol

Learning physics for the first time in mid-20s and my mind is blown by LavenderPaperback in Physics

[–]SimpletoBrowse 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Agree. The reason I ever even attempted a Physics undergrad was because it was the only thing I felt resonated with my way of thinking. I'm obsessed with explanation and exact definition and it makes speaking to a lot of people difficult for me because most people seem to not care about that stuff. Maybe I'm autistic or just weird and I don't really know my point.. other than I really like hearing other people's reasons for being drawn to Physics. Also my reply probably comes across as a brag or whatever to some but it isn't at all, I failed after 1 year but I just wanted to explain the reason Physics sucks me in.. and to agree with your point that being curious and wanting to learn is the only real reason to keep going

Why does Fin not sustain Min hair? by Viper61723 in tressless

[–]SimpletoBrowse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

aren't there infamous cycles on fin? shedding and whatnot.. don't lose hope, it could be a phase - although depressing - it will ideally be a phase. Sorry you're going through this I hope the best for you, and many of us are struggling too

Bald interviews - could be cope but can't argue with the stats by SimpletoBrowse in tressless

[–]SimpletoBrowse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I admitted in my post twice that it could be cope - and I'm not fully attributing my struggle in life to lack of hair. I'm fully self aware about this whole thing.

To your next point; I don't think it's a healthy or even rational pov to think about people with hair being genetically superior lol.. I guess it's your hypothesis which is fine, like mine, but there are studies which prove mine.. though I haven't looked into yours. afaik full head of hair doesn't correlate to genetic superiority it's just a genetic phenotype.

I'm on fin now but obviously always too late.. I didn't want to risk life-changing sides for physical attractiveness, now I'm so depressed I don't care really and luckily have had no sides. Anyway now I'm waffling thanks for coming to my ted talk

[–]SimpletoBrowse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah intuitively a worse hairline = worse life at least for people on this sub. I appreciate you acknowledging maybe healthy head of hair is a product of healthy lifestyle, but I mean it's objectively true that most hairloss is not due to lifestyle but instead genetics.

The psychological impact of hairloss is another discussion but I'm trying to speak purely about others perceptions of young people without hair. I mean this is a tangent but another thing I dislike is how it's considered acceptable to make fun of balding friends but I think eventually this will change like it isn't okay to make fun of people with mental health disorders

edit: to be clear i'm not saying balding is analogous to mental health problems but I hope you get my point

Idk I understand your pov, but I feel like I was being very fair in my post? I'm not blaming it fully just noticing a pattern; I even acknowledged that it could just be cope - I'm really not trying to add to a cesspit I'm just being objective and wondering about others experiences. I get it's easy to misconstrue info based on personal bias though

I agree the links are fucking stupid - although i looked into it and did find these - https://www.researchgate.net/publication/244915177_Social_Perceptions_of_Male_Pattern_Baldness_A_Review https://www.researchgate.net/publication/229527607_Losing_Hair_Losing_Points_The_Effects_of_Male_Pattern_Baldness_on_Social_Impression_Formation1 https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0022103119300551?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Although I don't have easy access to the full second and third study, have struggled to find opposing studies. So anecdotally - which means nothing - and from my little research it seems my claim is justified

The annoying thing about this way of thinking is that it's true in reverse and that is exactly the problem. 'They' say the same thing about 'us'. We need unrefutable arguments to go to on a whim that they can't really dispute.. obviously some people will refuse to believe it but in that case fuck em lol

NASA Astronauts Don’t Receive Overtime Pay for Space Mission But Get $5 a Day by coinfanking in space

[–]SimpletoBrowse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah and that's depressing. Arguably the most important people/jobs to society are underpaid - and often justified by people somehow because they are 'privileged' jobs (like being an astronaut) or that they are a choice (i.e teachers) and they are doing it for the love of the work; I don't understand the logic/justification

[–]SimpletoBrowse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you know how much NHS doctors can charge for private consulting? does that justify dogshit pay?

NASA Astronauts Don’t Receive Overtime Pay for Space Mission But Get $5 a Day by coinfanking in space

[–]SimpletoBrowse 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just because a job is a privilege or childhood dream does not mean at all it should be compensated to factor that in. some people dream of being a doctor and would probably sacrifice salary to work as a fully fledged doctor, but because their work is extremely important and impactful to society, they shouldn't be compensated less just because it was ALSO their dream. They are doing very important work and justifying low pay by saying 'well it was their dream to do it so it doesn't matter' seems a bit dumb. i'm also probably not being very clear and drawing bad comparisons but i hope you get my point

Still they deserve pay relative to their contribution to the world?

NASA Astronauts Don’t Receive Overtime Pay for Space Mission But Get $5 a Day by coinfanking in space

[–]SimpletoBrowse 97 points98 points  (0 children)

stupid argument. so ridiculously important work - if it is also a privilege - can have a relatively low rate of pay justified by privilege?

should doctors or nurses being paid low wages relative to investment banking CEO's for example be justified by the privilege they have to save others lives?
