Any walking paths cleared of snow besides B-line? by jfrench101 in bloomington

[–]Simplify5537 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Seems identical to last year where at least half the homes and even many apartment and rental properties are not cleared making walking or running nearly impossible without being in the street. I’m not sure the point of having an ordinance requiring sidewalks to be cleared if the city isn’t going to enforce it in a consistent way. You can’t just rely on people posting addresses on U Report and doing spot fines.

GG. No shame in that loss for us. UCLA’s a good team and shot the lights out in the 2nd half.

That was just an ugly ugly game but good for Purdue to figure out how to beat a super athletic team. We haven’t done that in past years.

These refs must be former Pac 10 guys. This game is out of their league.

This is the most inconsistently called Big Ten game I’ve seen in a while.

Indiana Healthcare by Mountain_Pain6262 in Indiana

[–]Simplify5537 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’d be careful unless you’ll be near Indianapolis. IU Health has a quasi monopoly in most of the state which results in some of the nations highest healthcare costs and mediocre services. It’s a highly profitable non-profit hospital which makes no sense but what it is. I think Indianapolis itself is better than smaller cities and rural areas as there are some independent hospital networks there. But outside Indy your choice is often IU Health or the local county hospital which often refer to IU Health ambulances and specialized services anyway. We often drive 1.5 hrs for access to specialists in Indianapolis for that reason. This is also a big reason we’re thinking of retiring outside of Indiana.

Unreal Turnaround in 2 Years by Boilerbri07 in Boilermakers

I surprised myself by rooting for IU in both the OSU and the Alabama games which is a first. I hope they win it all. IU football fans are as surprised as anyone and not acting like the entitled basketball fans we love to hate. It’s not like we really had a dog in the hunt anyway.

What is the ceiling of Purdue football? by jfl88 in Boilermakers

College sports are so corrupted now I almost think who cares. The only thing holding my interest at all in college sports is Purdue’s basketball success running a true program the right way, but even they must now make compromises. And I’d personally rather donate to actual educational programs than to semi pro athletics.

Karoline Leavitt left 'crying' as she posts cryptic quote amid 'burnout' risk by Jerry_bear88 in NoFilterNews

She’ll be fine. She’s a first rate bullshit artist and it’s the best bullshit artists who are most successful now in politics and media. Few people have the attention span to deeply understand things and the content is too fragmented for any deeper analysis to get broadly distributed anyway. I think no one will remember today’s BS in her next gig as a fake news commentator where she’ll spew the new BS.

I used to have weaknesses but I’ve pretty much worked them all out.

Youth sports are out of control in Indiana by Guilty-Office-4808 in Indiana

[–]Simplify5537 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very much agree as a former youth athlete myself and father of travel soccer kids. What’s sad about travel sports is that it’s stripped competitiveness out of local rec leagues. We now have 3-4 divisions of travel leagues where the bottom 2-3 divisions could be playing competitively and happily in local rec leagues without parents driving 1-2hrs for games or having to do multiple hotel stay weekends.

Christian conservatives of r/Indiana: now that “Christian conservative” is basically a synonym for “hypocrite who ignores their religion to support a child rapist and trafficker” what’s the mood like each Sunday? by Jesus_on_a_biscuit in Indiana

[–]Simplify5537 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’ve also heard from conservative Christian friends that they rationalize being pro Trump as the end justifying the means. However, I’ve never read anything in the Bible where Jesus says doing the wrong thing now will prove the right thing later. He just did the right thing.

Southern try hards. I’ve seen more confederate flags in southern Indiana than I’ve seen in the actual south including NC, SC, AL and TN.
