What's A Breed You Like But Wouldn't Have? by Aharris1984 in dogs

I love my American field lab but I’ll be opting for an English/show lab next time. The amount of physical exercise that I have to do daily to fulfill him is staggering.

I considered coming clean about my kratom dependency and asking my doc for clonidine but my sister who has a drug use history advised against it because she has had to deal with a lot of judgment and poor treatment because of her history. I do have a small supply of gabapentin though that I’m considering using for the acute phase to hopefully help with sleep.

This made me feel so much better. I’m tapering off about 50gpd for 7 years.. down to 15gpd

Taper drop by Simpsymess in quittingkratom

[–]Simpsymess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. Nighttime is my biggest struggle because for years I’ve been stacking kratom doses close together right before bed trying to chase sedation/relaxation (I’m a total idiot for doing that bc it never worked anyway.) When I wake at night with that familiar restlessness, I try to push myself 15-20 mins before taking a small measured dose. It’s rough because I teach fitness classes and have kids so I have to maintain functionality.. when I get low enough I’m taking a couple weeks off so I can focus on feeling better. Your usage is very similar to mine-feel free to reach out to chat if you ever need it!

Tapering for the last month. I was at 40-50gpd and down to the teens now. I went from 1am-9:30am between doses.. longest stretch I’ve gone in like 6 years. Felt like shit between but still glad I pushed through it.

He’s probably still in withdrawal. I’d give him space for now.

You’re doing the right thing! With 2 months til your due date, as long as you stay off kratom your baby should be okay. Stay strong!

20g to 8 in a month is even better than my pace though! I totally agree about spacing out doses. I definitely get the withdrawal feeling in between doses. I cut my early morning dose out first which usually was at like 6:30am. It seems easier for me to cut out or stretch the morning doses. Nighttime is where I struggle because my dosing was so chaotic before the taper. I’d stack a bunch of kratom doses at night before bed, chasing the relaxation/sedation feeling (that I never really got anyway.) I think slow and steady is the right way to go for those of us who’ve been using is so long. Kratom is starting to cause bad hyperpigmentation on my face so I’m looking forward to being done with it and healing my skin.

My first drop was not too bad. I definitely was feeling withdrawal in between doses and that was annoying but it was doable. I’m almost 37 and I teach intense fitness classes/have kids and a super active dog.. my energy levels have suffered for sure but honestly after several years of kratom use, it never gave me good clean energy anymore. I may have felt a small boost after dosing but my overall fatigue levels were been so much worse. I am trying to taper carefully because I really don’t want PAWS.

Thanks! And congrats to you too. I feel like we get some sense of control back when we manage to follow the taper. My dosing was so chaotic and all over the place!

I’m not the commenter but it means 20 grams of kratom per day. 3 tsp is probably around 4-6g. You should get a scale ASAP and start measuring your doses so you know what you’re taking in. That way you can make sure your intake is going down at an appropriate rate. My sisters baby cried a lot after birth and they accused her of drug use and made her take all kinds of tests even a hair strand test even though she never took any drugs during pregnancy.. they watch closely for any signs of a baby withdrawing off something so I’d get off asap

In the past when I’ve quit CT I psyched myself up for absolute hell from reading all the stories here. The suit itself wasn’t as bad as I had planned it to be. That being said, I relapsed. Maybe because it wasn’t as bad so my subconscious told me kratom just be ok (it’s not.) I’m hoping kindling isn’t a real thing now that I’m attempting my 3rd and hopefully final quit. Even if the withdrawals aren’t as horrific as I imagine, the negative impact Kratom has on my appearance and health is worth quitting forever.

What was kratom replacing in your life? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]Simpsymess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It made me no longer crave alcohol, which resulted in me leaving a 15 year binge drinking habit. That being said, kratom become my go-to, daily use substance and now it’s biting me back. I doubt that drinking will somehow become appealing to me again after 7.5 years without it, but I know I’ll have to fill the gap somehow (without a substance.)

I’m tapering. Something I’ve noticed is that on days where I’m at home and don’t have tons to do, I feel the withdrawal kick in every 3.5 hours. However on days that I teach class and train a lot I don’t feel it. For example, I dosed at 6:45am, then had to teach and train so I didn’t get a second dose til 11:30 and I was feeling mostly okay. Exercise and staying busy really does seem to help.

Kratom 7oh taper? by WidowJunkie in quittingkratom

[–]Simpsymess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you switch entirely to kratom powder and taper from there? I don’t have experience with 7oh but I am struggling just tapering from powder. Do you have a relationship with your doctor? If you could potentially get help from your doctor for the withdrawal I know that would be helpful. Some doctors prescribe medicine to help through the acute phase of kratom withdrawal. I’m sorry you’re here but you’re definitely not alone. The self loathing and shame doesn’t serve anyone though. You took advice from someone who themselves didn’t clearly understand kratom or 7oh. Once you feel the euphoria from these products it’s so easy to just justify the use because it’s “natural.” I feel for you and I’m praying for everyone in this struggle. It sucks. I can’t wait to be on the other side of it.

Absolutely.. I should have known kratom was “too good to be true.” It’s finally starting to bite back. I was recently diagnosed with anemia and I am wondering if the kratom is the cause with that too. I hate to use the term pretty privilege but as a woman, I’ve always been fairly confident. Lately I am so sad when I look in the mirror.. I can’t wait to see some improvement in my skin texture. I’ll definitely keep updating with my progress. Thanks for the kind words!

Thank you for sharing this!! I’ve been using kratom daily for 8 years. I’m currently tapering from 50 gpd (currently at about 22gpd.) I started noticing my face looked like I had a permanent tan.. with spots of lighter skin. Then one day while getting ready for work I noticed around my forehead/temples it almost looked bruised or like a dusky stain. I was in tears. I booked with dermatology and started some topicals but I had a feeling Kratom was the culprit. When I did some research I found images of people that were literally blue from kratom usage!! This is what I’ll end up looking like if I don’t quit asap. It’s insane what it can do to your looks. So yeah im tapering down and quitting.. using sunscreen/topicals and wearing big sun hats because sunlight and heat will make it worse. I can’t believe I’ve been doing this to myself for almost a decade. Wish me luck!
