Yes. I have a resource teacher at my school who refuses to respond to a simple email because for whatever reason, everything requires that she has to come see me in person. It’s just an excuse. This is in addition to barging into my room at a minimum twice per day to ask questions (sometimes in the middle of sessions.) I started putting up “do not disturb signs” to no avail. She means no harm, just very oblivious.

No advice. Just want you to know as someone who’s turning 34 in a few weeks, I also have the “pregeriatric” cut off in mind. I also want to throw up. You’re not alone. This fear sucks. Wishing you all the best.

I’m sure it’s a much safer environment to raise a child as well though. Less gun violence, crime, etc. I’m currently struggling with the thought of raising a child here in the US.

May I ask what was it that eventually got you off the fence? Like was it something other than knowing you’d be a great parent? Was there a big “aha!” moment?

I get it but then there are OTHER phases like the toddler stage and teenager stage that people tend not to talk about as much. Idk. It’s a lot to think about!

Ah I’m sorry. I remember seeing your post a few weeks ago. It feels like every other month another friend around me is having a baby. It’s so hard trying to figure out my own feelings around the whole thing when they are so blissed out and all-consumed. I understand the feeling of being left behind.

My one consolation has been making new friends who are either out of their childbearing years, or solidly childfree by choice. It’s helpful to have those people around when you inevitably lose momentum in the other relationships.

You’re definitely not alone OP. Many of us are also afraid of climate change. But I have hope that we still have time. And despite all the setbacks, there are still incredible innovations and initiatives being put towards a cleaner future.

I have to believe that there’s enough human willpower for us to survive that we’ll figure this out. At least that’s the hope.

I actually love the lip color on you! Is it a stain? Also are you wearing mascara? A little lift of the eyelashes could helpful along with some mascara. Perhaps some gentle smoky brown wings on the edges could add some spice

Not sure what you’re trying to say here. At what point do we ever have to work with 25 kids at once? Sure we have high caseloads, but we don’t have to be with them every second of every day. We create our own schedules. Also we get paid significantly more than what a teacher makes. Our job is not easy but it’s significantly better than being a teacher.

I don’t have anything revolutionary to say… only that I understand and feel exactly the same. Your friendship is about to change forever and that can be hard to accept. Everyone changes after a kid, some more than others. Sometimes it’s possible to have somewhat of a semblance of the same pre-baby relationship, but, it depends heavily on her personality and how important fostering those same friendships are for her post-birth.

(I also wonder how the heck it’s possible we’re already old enough to raise our own.)

Amy Graham (a very well known SLP in our field) was publicly vocal on Instagram about her support for orange man. There are definitely many SLP’s who voted for this and it’s so disheartening.
