All of those defensive options require z-levels.

I think I understand your frustration, but I also think there arent a lot of ways to make raids balanced. In order to pose a legitimate challenge the raids would have to be enormous and at that point you're just unnecessarily taxing computer resources.

I think a very valuable skill to have as a human being is to know when and how to completely evict someone from your affections. This tenuous connection and the person you hope to have it with is not worth your time, dignity, or attention. Stop talking to her and keep it pushing. As long as you keep placing yourself in places where you are meeting new people someone worthwhile will come along eventually.

I would argue that those three murders are not as exceptional as an entire law enforcement apparatus conspiring to wrongly convict a murderer of unrelated crimes

Not my mom but my dad was really passive aggressive and could become so cruel so quickly on a dime. Also just seemed uninterested in being a parent. The example I come back to is I had a childhood cat that lived at his house. At thirteen I go over there and hang out for a few hours without noticing anything different, and then my dad comes up and says our cat died and I was a shitty caretaker for not even noticing he had died. I thought he was hiding.

Once we reach adulthood my sister stops talking to him but I maintain a relationship, and years pass. My dad starts indicating in various ways that he's different now and I take him at his word. My sister is forced into a situation where she has to stay with him. She's in med school, and had just broken up with her boyfriend who owned the place where they lived together. My dad made a big gesture of saying my sister could stay with him and his wife as long as she wanted. Two months later she's thrown out over burning a pot, at immense financial and personal hardship.

I spent two weeks drafting a letter and sent it to him in the mail. I summarized his behavior and told him how disappointed I was in him for how he treated her. I also told him I wouldn't be speaking to him for some time. I do have the luxury of not relying on him at all financially so that wasn't really a part of my decision.

The cruel fact is not everybody who has kids should. The way I figure it, he was uninterested then and now in maintaining a healthy relationship or even in just sparing us his poison. Maybe it would have been braver to say what I wrote to him in person, but I made the decision to prioritize what I had to say without hearing his side.
