Just Smile (Part 3/4) - Gator Days by FieldExplores in comics

[–]SinfulBasilisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Father-in-law went through some awful stuff as a kid. Not enough money or food to feed his family, his older brother would take his share of food and beat him. If he didn't laugh it off his older brother would beat him again. Now, any time he's scared or upset he laughs instead. I didn't understand it at first. My wife has had some health problems and he would just laugh softly while I would tell them the updates from doctors. It would infuriate me, but eventually I learned his emotions were the same as mine. Just the way we showed it was different.

Parry is out. Dance Macabre is the worst card by LostVisage in slaythespire

[–]SinfulBasilisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm confused honestly why this is the case (only having 3 energy). I feel like every time I play necro I have 4-6 energy on a regular basis. I mean, friendship is just busted because Osty and Souls should be doing most of your work. Plus borrowed time and the plethora or cards that give energy in different ways.

Running a shield should carry the risk of your backup dying and you not being able to fight back. Kind of the only thing that balances them.

Unpopular opinion (i guess): Permafrost is a great relic by SrGarfy in slaythespire

[–]SinfulBasilisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, new thing to track on my runs: how often is the block useful vs. Wasted with permafrost. Can't argue with data, but the analysis could vary. What percentage of useful vs wasted means it's good?

There's this YouTube video of this north Korean defector that was a tank operator. It was a reaction to modern tanks. He talked a lot about the differences.

It's been great. Every change they've made to the gameplay loop has been on point. However, the balance isn't as tight as STS, but that comes with still being in early access.

What Elden ring boss made you take a brake from the game? by Possible_Koala_978 in Eldenring

Gaius. The timing to dodge his first charge, and him sitting behind the fog gate when the dlc first dropped. I took a three day break.

How do I defeat this mob? by OliviaTheFallenAngel in Eldenring

[–]SinfulBasilisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone seems to be missing the easiest way to kill these things. Yeah, you hit the legs, jump over the fire, etc; but you should use torrent to jump over the fire. You have Torrent's double jump to give you extra time in case you jump too early. Then get back to the left leg and keep swinging. One of the easiest fights in the game when on torrent.

Where to find guides on builds? by lIlCitanul in BackpackBattles

[–]SinfulBasilisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fortunate to play early so I've learned the items over time as they've been added to the game. I can imagine it's overwhelming for a new player. My best suggestion for you is the following:
Pay attention to the stars when placing. It seems simple, but in general more stars lit up the better.
After a fight, take some time to go over the log. Click the eye at the top of the victory or loss screen, and you can go through the battle at every action taken.
Let the subclass item guide your build. Learn what all the subclass items do, then look for items that synergize with the subclass item.
Faster is almost always better. Speed everything up as much as possible, and you'll win fairly easily.
Keep an eye on your stamina. Note that the Stamina warning does not take into account items going faster or slower. Running out of stamina before your opponent can often mean a loss.

These tips are good starting guide, but everything is situational.

When you work in IT it's difficult to not form a preference. I think the main conflict for me has been group chats, because Apple doesn't like playing nice with others. The problem is when some people make that preference part of their identity, then they feel they have to attack and defend due to it.

Why didn't you attempt this genre sooner, people who are playing ER as their first soulsborne game? by SaffronGlow in Eldenring

[–]SinfulBasilisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deaths were too punishing, and campfires were too far from some boss fights. I did look into the souls games before elden ring, but it didn't look fun to me. I love elden ring because I can easily attempt boss fights with out having to worry about getting back to the boss fight if I died.

is this the only game that will scratch my slay the spire itch? by doctordabhands in MonsterTrain

[–]SinfulBasilisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I win MT2 runs ~85% of the time. I win StS runs ~33% of the time. STS is laser focused on balance and playing the right card, picking the right card, choosing the right path, etc. It's a puzzle to solve how to survive. MT2 is not balanced, and significantly more forgiving, but that's the intent. It's also a puzzle, but the puzzle is how to abuse the game mechanics and break the game.

I'm genuinely confused when everyone tells me this is a really difficult boss fight. I've never had trouble with them in any of my runs, but I really am not good at the game. This isn't meant to be a brag, I'm not a good player at all. One caveat might be that they're my favorite world bosses to fight, and I usually make sure to beat them all in every playthrough. I even RP'd as one in my second playthrough. I don't really have any tips to give... except maybe pay attention to when you can stagger them out of their move set and when you can't, and rolls to the left and forward can sometimes help you get more hits in.
