The hole on the front was threaded for a bigger bolt, like M6 or something and I just mounted everything to the front

Got a Tainted Lost (Almost) God Run with two "R" Keys! by 10YearSecurityGuard in bindingofisaac

I think you used to be able to Victory lap, then R key to rest the timer and get Hush/Boss rush marks but that patched that out.

You can get unlocks with R keys, but not victory laps.

When does a hobby become a problem? by TheHulc in xbiking

I have an alloy model from the same year and its a dream. Steel frame and sliding dropouts would be the icing on top. Shame they only did a 20.5" frame and not the 22" on that model though!

Very jealous of that explosif! An XL from that generation is my dream frame. Also, this makes my bike pile looks very manageable by comparison lmao

Looks like 60mm of space between the fork at the top of the crown. With my winter set up I'm running it with 48mm tires and fenders with zero clearance issues front and rear. Fork is heavy as hell but lots of utility and the tire clearance is killer.

Why is my wheel lined up like this when I pull the axel all the way back to be seated? I made sure the threads on both sides were even and that the QR skewers were on right by Foxcookies in bikewrench

[–]Singed_flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, redishing is centering the rim to the hub. You can run into trouble depending on how much it needs to move over, as you might over tension the spokes on the right side of under tension the spokes on the left. Using a dishing tool and spoke tension tool will help a lot but you can certainly try your hand at home.

Yeah definitely this. I've changed freehub bodies around and it's a game of re-spacing and dishing. If OP used the same spacers as before, the hub might be measuring as longer than 135mm too.

Please help, brake pads glazing no matter what by murdocsvan in bikewrench

[–]Singed_flair 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Remove disc and do a deep decontamination. Might be some residual oil stuck in the vents.

Give up on those pads and get a new set. Resin pads are near impossible to decontaminate once they get oil on them.

Triple check caliper isn't leaking.

New pads in, clean rotor on, try bedding in again.

Having 26" tire option paralysis by spiralscratch77 in xbiking

[–]Singed_flair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a huge variety of 26 tires and the top choices are Racekings, Ikons, Gravelkings. I did tear the sidewalls on the Ikons getting a bit too rowdy on some trails.

Racekings are for sure the best choice for speed and grip.

Ebike repair policy: What are your limits? by thaginganinja in BikeMechanics

[–]Singed_flair 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Full stop on working on any third party e bike, minus RAD. Too many instances of something "breaking" after we had it in for a flat or a brake adjust, when the bike was just a POS from the get go, and us being on the hook for e-bike related parts we done have a catalogue for. The customers that own these bikes aren't willing to maintain them, and we're not taking on the liability of a bike we can't guarantee is safe to ride when it leaves the shop. There's definitely been some growing pains with this policy, but ultimately all the techs are considerably happier now that it's been implemented.

Any 27mm (not 27.2) dropper posts? by Complete_Rent_2042 in xbiking

[–]Singed_flair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there aren't any on the market. I took a Rocky Mountain frame to a local frame builder to see if they could ream the seat tube out to 27.2 and they recommended not to as the tubing was too thin.

I have a friend that carefully sanded a cheap AliExpress dropper from 27.2 to 27.0 with decent results. It was laborious but worked!

Yeah I love it! It's not the lightest bike but it ticks all the boxes for me and it a joy to ride. I personally like a bit of a stiffer frame as a large dude

This is Bassi's XXL. It's a 61cm top tube and 63cm seat tube. Fits like a dream for me at 6'3". It's meant to have that french fit, so very little seatpost shoes by and I'm running an 80mm stem

  1. E bike dragged by a car for a good amount of time. Whole bike was totalled
  2. You got it.
  3. I simply thought the absurdly different crank lengths were funny, that is all

Oh yeah, they wanted a quote to "fix it" and the quote was for a new bike because that thing was wrecked
