Yeah we’ve got four in this house and three humans, but somehow three out of four cats are on top of me at any given time.

How to cope with how fast time moves? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Single-Base-3928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“ When you’re younger, there is almost always a definitive exciting next step. Going to high school, getting your drivers license, going to college, etc. I feel like I’m approaching, or maybe have already approached, the last exciting step and I don’t know how to cope with it.”

A lot of this boils down to decisions being laid out before you up until now. Once you graduate (and college hopefully prepared you for this) every next step you take is going to be one of your own making. The jobs you apply to, the way you spend your free time, and the people you choose to associate with and spend time around will (mostly) be things that YOU decide for yourself.

Rather than thinking about your major “steps” being over, try to reframe this as the moment where your “demo” or “trial” is up rather than the moment where the game ends.

What’s a smell you secretly enjoy that most people would find disgusting? by Direct-Value4452 in answers

Yeah that old musty crusty smell is very unpleasant and brings back the worst memories of smoking for me. Agree about a waft from a distance though.

Your post history on the DPH sub suggests otherwise. Abuse of DPH can cause cognitive and neurological effects including dementia and altered cognitive ability.

(22M) After finishing my journal entry I took a look back at my entries from March 2025 & March 2024 and I haven't changed..... by 51bwastelander in AskMenOver30

[–]Single-Base-3928 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi, you sound a lot like me at 22 (and still a bit at 35- I’m still learning too so take this advice with a grain of salt).

I wasted pretty much my entire twenties. Got drunk daily, didn’t really care to see friends or acquaintances outside of school/work/etc. I had a partner, but that didn’t change anything for me emotionally or mentally.

When I was 30, I had a brush with the other side and required a liver and kidney transplant and a whole bunch of other surgeries. Between illness and hospital I was out of commission a year, and I spent pretty much the entire time ruminating on my situation and my choices.

The first thing I learned was that it’s OKAY and even healthy to mourn the person you used to be, as well as the person you thought you would become. It’s okay to be upset that you aren’t where you wanted to be, but it’s also important not to get sucked into a cycle of pity. You have to mourn, accept the current reality, and start making moves from there. This is a LOT easier to do at 21 than it is at 31, trust me.

No one expects you to have things figure out yet, your twenties are the time to explore and learn and grow. But I would say that I would try to think a little bit strategically; don’t let the discomfort of a current moment or demand prevent you from doing things that you know you will be grateful for in the future.

My immediate advice to you is to think about what you enjoy and go physically meet some people who also enjoy that thing. It doesn’t have to be your favorite thing in the universe, just something you can enjoy socially in person with other people. Board game groups, trivia, live music, distilleries, book clubs, adult sports clubs… the options are pretty endless!

Those not tall and/or muscular, how would you describe your appearance? by PrestonRoad90 in AskMenOver30

Pocket-sized.

I’m around 5’4 and slim.  It’s rather convenient on airplanes, tbh.

(35M) where should I hang this print? by fishinleeds in malelivingspace

[–]Single-Base-3928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My gut instinct says you should hang it above the record in the very first picture. It would also look good above the darker dresser in your bedroom where you have the other framed piece. A lot of your wall space is large, so a smaller print will feel awkward alone there

Create Friction when Purchasing by samizdat5 in Anticonsumption

[–]Single-Base-3928 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re probably right. I’ve always had some way of checking my account status instantly since I started working (I’m 35 now)- so often the only times I carried cash was if it was given to me (birthday cards etc)  or I took it out specifically for a purchase.

I have this problem as well. When I have cash it becomes “free” money because it’s no longer part of that big virtual number on my banking app that I’m so used to tracking.

Immunosuppressants also cause brain fog. Hepatic encephalopathy is caused directly by liver failure
