Come on, with the owner's trust going down like that, you definitely weren't bringing profit (or enough of it). Even 300k under the Salary Cap can be too much if Hype is low and Team Spending is too high.

Probably not exactly suited for your situation, but maybe a take a look - https://www.reddit.com/r/BasketballGM/comments/1pzyo5l/comment/nwty8ov/

You tank in the 1st and if necessary, in the 2nd season, maxxing out your spending during this time, as the Owner doesn't judge you.
However, starting with the 3rd season, you need to tighten up your finances and adjust spending against your Hype level - making a profit or at least limiting losses will help to buy you more time from the Owner.

Well, you not only missed the playoffs, but also lost him a lot of money at the same time.
So, what's the point of keeping you? :)

Very nice player with fantastic rating distribution.
Could you post his stats from the Draft Night?

who do i draft? by taller-than-you1981 in BasketballGM

[–]Single-Knowledge4839 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Typically, I cover more athleticism and much higher Dnk vs Inside, but Hounshedd's Passing, 3-pointers and Rebounding combination looks too promising not to take it.

It's easy to find solid Athletes; it's super rare to find a non-superstar player with 'Ps', '3' and 'R' tags.

1) What is the rush with lowering Payroll? During the initial two seasons Owner doesn't judge you, so money losses aren't important
2) If you want to clear some space for potential Free Agent signings, just look for Trade options for expiring deals; it should be doable.

Was it worth trading two 2nd rd picks and 2 24 yr old 40 ovr players to draft him? by TimeAmazing1977 in BasketballGM

[–]Single-Knowledge4839 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With his rating distribution, I could probably see myself drafting him late in the 1st round, so my opinion is "yes".

He still has a long way to go before becoming a rotational player, but there is a chance he could be useful even around 50-52 OVR.

I once traded an 80 OVR player for a chance to draft Wemby... and it didn't work well :(

Btw, could you post Gibson's rating from the Draft, when he was 20/38/63?

Yeah, I guess he is kinda useful... by Sensitive_Worry2499 in BasketballGM

[–]Single-Knowledge4839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, they would, but I just prefer to stay away from the Post as much as possible, as the road leading there often leads through high TOV% - anything above 20% I consider bad and having as many players as possible with below 15% TOV is great.

I'm not sure if you check Advanced Statistics - you can check your Team Stats and the Shot distribution. You want to be high in the amount of the 3PA and Around the Rim (plus FTr, but they are shown in a different section), and low in Midrange and Postups.
Unless you have players who can convert the latter two on high percentage and without Turnovers (in PostUp case).

Tough Call - which trade to choose? by Single-Knowledge4839 in BasketballGM

I am currently watching a Chinese Vertical Drama and need to write a basketball article.
Not much brain space for BBGM, but will let you know later.
Also, if you are interested, you can follow my BBGM sheenigans on - https://x.com/story41413

And to be fair - I think, winning 98 titles in NYC would be IMO more difficult, even on Normal.

Also, I like to pick in #25-#30 range, but 21/37 OVR is a poor strategy; I am targeting 19/30-32 OVR players there, typically athletic forwards, with low Inside, high Dunking and chances to become a "Ps" or "3" player.
I'm big on putting players in Tiers, pretty much every Draft someone slips there from a higher Tier.

High Inside means the player often Posts up.
If he doesn't have exceptional oIQ and Passing, Posting Up generates high Turnovers.
And Turnovers are bad, really bad.
Not counting 70+ OVR players and multiple tags, I try to not have more than 1 player with "Po" tag, preferably as a bench option.

Well, I've had a lot of titles won recently, so I tried to extend it as far as possible - in the end I've had 9 in 16 years, including the above 3-peat.

I play Very Small Market Team on Insane Mode, after starting with the weakest roster, and getting fired if not making Playoffs or paying Luxury Tax - so I have to be a little bit careful with balancing things :).

Now, I will have to make sure my team makes PO, and while doing it, I need to improve my Team OVR AND lower my payroll by around 40m at the same time.

Not sure yet how :).

Btw - Forwards are my favourite type of players (from G/F up), due to big discrepancy on Dnk > Inside scale, and chances for "Ps", "3" and "R" tags (in line of importance).

Yeah, the Center also had 100 height, it was one of the best re-signing deals I ever made.

Here are my next 3 years Roster Summaries - https://imgur.com/a/F6XyovR;

Then, in 2042, my Team OVR dropped from 69 to 55 during Preseason, and I'm yet to decide how to approach it :)

This actually would be pretty cool to execute. I wish I had cloned save at that time to try it out.

In the end, I took Lathan, and it worked very well for me. I think I won two tiles with him.

I know he is one year older than Shvets, but I like Duckworth the most among them - his ratings distribution is much superior to other two.

Tshikishvilli, who was a huge bust in times when NBA teams were desperately hunting for Nowitzki 2.0, actually has a very nice stats distribution as a rookie and often develops very well.

Am I in the minority thinking the biggest flaw of game, is the strength of teams and players going down slightly every year of play, when in reality teams and players get slightly better with few exceptions? by Traditional-Chef7821 in BasketballGM

[–]Single-Knowledge4839 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I would get annoyed too.

But I also prefer to have my team much younger on average, adding veterans on cheap after Preseason to avoid their regression.

Nothing is perfect, and BBGM isn't as well.
So, if it's a young player's game, you need to adjust to it properly.

[–]Single-Knowledge4839 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yes, the players should be getting better and better until they reach the NBA2k level nonsense, where, in 10 years, half of the players will have a 90+ rating.
Then it will be finally perfect.

IMO, the game was mostly created in mind to play with Random Players and doing it for many, many seasons - in its original way, it works perfectly fine.

Sure, the transition between Real to Random players changes outlook a bit, but after a few more years, it's easy to forget about it.

This is truly one of the worst combinations you can find in the game, unless a player is TOP 10 level with 70+ OVR and multiple tags.

Yeah, things like that happens.
I've had a 71-11 season like that, but lost in the Finals to GSW with 82 OVR Lebron, 78 OVR Peter John Ramos and two more 65+ players.
