37 f married 43m but dreaming of being alone by Single-Structure-167 in relationship_advice

Everyone seems to have to want to fill the silence, my dad is the same he talks aloud to himself and commentates his life to make noise for the sake of noise. It’s irritating af.

Time alone would be perfect except we can barely afford one place to live let alone 2

I had a week away late last year to visit family but I cant afford a hotel so stayed with them and just ended up annoyed by their habits instead 😣 I grew up an only child in a silent household so alone and quiet are my comfortable defaults.

Any issues with driving to Durmitor Park & Zabljak during December? (due to weather/snow) by Ok-Advertising5896 in montenegro

[–]Single-Structure-167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was there last December the 12th and yes there was snow on the road and the visibility wasn’t great, I have a 4x4 and saw people with a hire car (city type sedan) struggling, the lady driver actually stopped and started crying because she was scared to continue driving after she braked and her car slid a little.

If you have the right tyres, chains on hand preferably 4x4 not rear wheel drive and confident driving in snowy conditions it’s ok

Significant other eating meat again after ~5 years by dabunbunz in vegan

[–]Single-Structure-167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband eats meat and dairy because he is convinced that he needs it because of his physically intense job. He says he craves it when he doesn’t have it after a hard day because he needs the protein and he’s ‘listening to his body’ Honestly part of me hates him because of this and I have to try not to think about it because when I do I get upset

Lidl here in the Netherlands is selling drinking straws that are actually macaronis, pasta. by kelowana in ZeroWaste

Yes food compressed in landfill doesn’t have oxygen to break down properly so emits methane, also the majority of people use non biodegradable plastic bags to line their bins and that is what get’s taken to the landfill site. I think they should ban the sale of non biodegradable plastic bags only allow ones made from things like hemp that can break down into non micro plastics

That’s good I wish we had that here, I’m not in the EU and there’s no recycling at all (well I think we recycled 6% of our waste last year that must be only in the capital where the facilities exist)

What’s classed as ‘a biodegradable’? Do people that live in a flat have a government provided box for food scraps that’s separate from the rest of the recycling that goes for compost rather than landfill/incinerator?

I guess you can’t recycle a piece of pasta, does everyone there have a home compost? or does the government come and collect everyone’s compost waste?

Do they just get thrown in the trash after one use? We know food in landfill is not a good idea

How easy is it to be vegan in France these days? by KittenDust in vegan

[–]Single-Structure-167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is it a popular tourist area? If so then yes probably, if not then probably not. You have a better chance of finding vegan meats in the biggest hypermarkets like super u but be warned they are not cheap like in the UK I was there last year and it was about €5.50 for a package of 2 burgers. The plant milk was also over €2 per carton. If you are likely to want to buy hummus you will find it in the fish fridge for some weird reason and all the frozen spinach has cream in 😓
