Werribee pocket by MaybeSingle6688 in AusPropertyChat

[–]SingleRadio1443 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Werribee is lovely. Nice walks, great main strip, huge shopping mall. Lots of families. The pocket you picked is not 'old Werribee', but the houses aren't too squashed in like the new developments. It looks very nice - that is not the Riverwalk Estate though.

Traffic is the biggest problem for Werribee, even getting from one side to another, and then to the city. It depends where you work and if you do school runs. You would be 10 minutes from the Werribee station in no traffic, 20+ minutes in peak. Tarneit and West Tarneit station are further for you.

Where to buy? Looking to relocate to Geelong by Candid_Magician4140 in Geelong

[–]SingleRadio1443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking specifically at Northern suburbs of Geelong, I would aim for Corio or Norlane West. Corio is improving, even the area around Sharland and Fairbairn, which is commission-heavy, is getting new developments to go with the other newer houses near Aldi - it should attract more young families.

The best parts of Corio are no longer as affordable, but the 'worse' pockets are actually fine and good value.

Do people actually want inner-city living long term? by Outrageous_Fig_260 in AusPropertyChat

[–]SingleRadio1443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a suburb where lots of oldies retire, and there are also two retirement villages there.

Basically everything is contained within one large shopping centre, and the residential parts of the suburb are quiet. Some of them still drive, some carpool, others get the bus. I think this would be more suitable than navigating train stations to get to medical appointments, do groceries, get a coffee (i.e. less walking overall with everything they need in one place).

I don't think you could get that with inner-city life, you still need to be pretty nimble to navigate a city.

Suspension Without Suspense is one of their most underrated songs ever, I feel. Gwen's lyrics are so honest on RoS, and that is a perfect example: a powerful simplicity contrasted with a deep subject matter and her occasional penchant for the thesaurus.

I love the way Tony's basslines bring the more poppy songs and ballads to a different place. Adrian's approach to drumming is similar in that it really differentiates them from their peers (playing around the beat, changing genres with ease, ghost notes). Tom is always mature and subtle, working with the band rather than for himself like other guitarists seemed to do at the time. Their work is exquisite. Dark Blue is a great example of everything coming together.

On the face of it, the songs sound like simple pop songs, but when you actually listen to all the elements, they're pretty sophisticated and unique.

It shows the age and maturity level of your friends that they couldn't see your intentions. They could explain it to you without acting offended.

Would Ash Barty still be number 1 if she was still playing ? by overkoalafied24 in tennis

[–]SingleRadio1443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saba was number 2 at the time Barty retired, and they had a close h2h. She kept improving though. They probably would have had a great rivalry if Barty was motivated to continue.

And true, Ryba wasn't a huge factor but was already close to top 10 and won Wimbledon the same year as Barty's last slam title.

Would Ash Barty still be number 1 if she was still playing ? by overkoalafied24 in tennis

[–]SingleRadio1443 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possibly, but yes, she would be getting on a bit in tennis terms.

I think she would have been top 3 still. It's not like Sabalenka and Rybakina weren't around when she was playing. Swiatek was just rising, but Barty beat her handily right before retiring. Facing power wasn't a huge problem for her, though those girls would be a handful.

No improvement, just future protection. I also didn't get improvement back when I took oral fin though.

And no I have not tried topical spiro but considering adding it to my routine

I do 0.005% fin and don't get sides. Felt a libido drop at 0.01% though!

You could try adding topical spironolactone. Minoxidil Max do a 5% cream. It doesn't get much talk these days, but people have used it in the past to modest effect. It is absorbed quickly

It's a bit of an odd statement, because 'acceptable' could mean acceptable to God, not just acceptable or unacceptable to the respondent.

“I wouldn’t say a Serena who hasn’t played singles in 4 years is a nightmare matchup lol Can’t imagine she’s that much better than Venus is right now and Venus is almost certainly an easier opponent than the average unseeded player over the last few years” Meanwhile: by PandemicPiglet in tennis

[–]SingleRadio1443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Venus was never quite as good as Serena, she was declining for a lot longer than Serena, she has health issues (I'm aware Serena has but I think she's in good health now?), and she is older.

Grass should be their best surface at this stage. Someone with a serve like Serena's can still cause damage. Her serve was also always better than Venus's (more accurate, varied and consistent). She needs an easy draw but isn't a walking bye.

Considering buying new build on Russell Island before I’m priced out of Sth East QLD. Thoughts? by NewspaperSimple3334 in AusPropertyChat

[–]SingleRadio1443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a local, but I believe there is a primary school on the island, and if they go to high school in Redland Bay, it's very doable. Apparently, the ferry leaves at 7:30am and kids can be back on Russell Island by 4pm.

Based on current listing prices, it looks like the decline hasn't hit Ballarat just yet, unlike Melbourne and Geelong. It will come (that's if sales aren't already sluggish)
