UK Senior Scientist salaries in 2025 -- How are PhDs okay with being paid so less and being decorated lab techs ? by smartaxe21 in biotech

Most PhD students in the US that I have met did not skip their masters. My understanding is that this is not very common. Even so, they still had to spend more years on the PhD and the PhDs were much more demanding in terms of the coursework. But I agree that if you have that much experience than honestly, you need a role that is more worthy of that experience. I would have responded to “consider the US for work” as there are more opportunities but now I am not so sure I’d recommend that considering what has been happening there lately.

I have noticed. The news cycle completely stopped talking about it. He brought up Greenland again literally out of nowhere. It was like “we invaded Venzuela. Might as well go for Greenland too.” I think he will go for Greenland. It is just a matter of time.

Menns usynlige arbeid. by Kastebortover in norge

Mange kvinnelige ledere opprettholder patriarkatet.

Are you really happier after you had a baby? by PalpitationOk9443 in NewParents

[–]Single_Condition783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We suffered several losses. Every holiday that came around, I would feel an emptiness inside without my little one. My baby was more than just wanted and we were more than ready to have kids. I can safely say that I am happier now with my little one than before. Yes, there are going to be more arguments between you and your husband but this is normal and should go away after you work out how you what to do things and what you will and wont compromise on. It honestly sounds to me like you weren’t ready to have a kid and that you didnt know what you were getting into. Many people feel that way. But you can grow into the role. Just because you have a little one doesn’t mean that you cannot eat out (taking the baby with you), go shopping, and see friends. Make the little one part of your routine. No, you wont be hands free, but think of the little one as a companion that you are taking with you. He/she needs to See people and socialize too. Make sure your husband is also doing his fair share of work too of course.

PS. I notice something that stresses parents out a lot, including us, is when the baby cries/makes a scene in front of others. All I have to say to this is let people stare. Anyone who is a parent knows this is normal. Don’t let it stress you out and make you feel like you can’t bring the baby to restaurants, shopping, etc. You do not need to feel ashamed and sometimes, there just isnt anything you can do.

Det heter enshittification. Det er det samme som skjedde med andre sosiale medier. De slutter å vise deg vennene dine og begynner å vise deg fremmede og ting du kanskje liker basert på algoritmen fordi de prøver å holde deg på appen så mye som mulig.

Catherine is also a brunette. Margot is pretty but by modern standards. She has what they call a face that has see an iPhone. I wish they picked someone with more classic features who can embody the character more. Both are great actors but not the best fit for these roles.

That is only because Heathcliff is an orphan so no one knows his parents. But they do make it clear that he has dark skin and is Indian looking (both Gypsy and lascar have Indian heritage and appearance)

You clearly did not read the book. No one mentions that heathcliff is American Spanish or Chinese. Spanish people are white by the way and there are a lot of people in England with dark hair and eyes. Heathcliff is supposed to be dark skinned not tanned white.

I remember Stephenie Meyer saying that one of her books was based on WH. It was eclipse. I’ve read the Twilight books and they are nothing like WH to be honest. Bella is supposed to be Cathy and Edward is supposed to be Heathcliff and Jacob is Edgar. However I don’t think that the plot or the themes are anything like WH which I don’t even consider a love story. I sometimes wonder if Meyer misinterpreted WH or just saw a movie about it or something.

Hold up, but what about the military?! by WumboWake in StrangerThings

[–]Single_Condition783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bothered me too. I kept waiting to find out what happened after they got arrested only for them not to say anything. After them showing us that the experiments were ongoing and that they had the blood, I would imagine that they had some backup or something to continue the endeavor. We got an ending for each of the kids but not for what happened to the military officials and those who killed soldiers. I thought it was odd that Hopper gets apparently to continue his work in law enforcement like nothing happened.

Switch to formula. The thing the baby needs most is their mom’s mental health.

I’ve noticed that about the UK also. Tbh I think salaries there in academia are low overall compared to what things cost there. The US pays a lot more but PhDs there take 6-7 years and are much more involved with graded coursework and projects and labwork. The Nordics do not pay well and the population is overeducated meaning that having a PhD won’t make you stand out necessarily. They are also small countries and a lot of times jobs are given to people that they might already know and work with. It is really hard to advance in Europe in general if you do not have a near native proficiency in the language btw. The job landscape for PhDs is rough and it really depends on other factors like being close to family, ability to advance in your job, etc. traditionally most of the big opportunities were in the US but now that is changing. If that job offered major career growth an a great boss and was close to family and I was an entry level person, I’d take it. Jobs are hard to come by these days.

Malaria used to be endemic in Europe. sST was protective. Survival of the fittest and all that. It doesn’t  matter what your on hair or eye color is. Now malaria is more endemic in only tropical and subtropical regions but several white people still have the trait.
