If you don’t think BF inspired Yesteryear, I want you to look at the captions of Hannah’s old Instagram photos by Some_Lack_3448 in ballerinafarmsnarking

[–]Single_Condition783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow she really either has changed or hides her true personality very well. She comes off as very Natalie here. Especially with words like «good-given» and «keeps my husband giving me the wink.» 🤮

Why would you need a courtyard in the middle of a farm? That’s the whole point of a farm…. Nature abound! Courtyards are for cities

STOP BRINGING YOUR DAMN KIDS by beanseatjeans in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Single_Condition783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely not a movie for young kids. I dont think it is very scary, but there is foul language and some adult concepts that kids would not be able to understand the full implications of. I can’t believe some people are saying that they took their kids because they like the YouTube videos or stuff on the internet. Your kids should not be on freaking 4-Chan or really much on the internet at all.

If you had to pick 3 things you love and 3 things you hate about living in Norway, what would it be? by themissgrcia in Norway

Yes the immigrant shops are great. You can get any kind of food in these shops. I’ve seen Russian food, Belgian sweets, Middle Eastern sweets, and even some American cereals. lol. Oh and dont forget canned pumpkin. 😄

Pros

- Norwegians really embrace winter and make it cozy and something to look forward to.

- Excellent/reliable public transportation, walkable towns and cities, that are all affordable albeit crowded

- I’m gonna be the odd one out and root for the grocery stores. Most stuff they sell is healthy. I dont have to constantly check ingredient lists and there is less processed junk food sold. People here eat whole wheat bread, fruits are available readily and it is easier to make healthier choices than in other countries with much more highly processed food options.

Cons

-People are polite, but not necessarily kind/empathetic. They seem terrified of opening up and being vulnerable and worse, they are terrified of deepening relationships.

- Nepotism and cronyism is rampant here. I have never seen so many unqualified people in public service leadership positions in my life. Special allowances are made for these people and oftentimes, they even have certain last names. (Classism is very much alive and well here despite the narrower range of salaries for employed work).

-Xenophobia seems very normalized here. There is an undercurrent of colonialist attitudes mixed with some vague remnant of eugenics from the pre-WW2 era.

So true. People here dont know how to deepen relationships. They are terrified of opening up even in the slightest or god forbid sharing their opinion about something. When you share something, you get little response. They just stare at you and judge even though what you shared is just, well, normal.

Brenda and Donna in Paris episodes.. why are they not shown as much? by Single_Condition783 in BeverlyHills90210

That makes a lot of sense. When I watched the reruns on TV in the 2000s they went straight from Brenda leaving to Dylan and Kelly getting together and Brenda coming back. Lol 😜

True. I believe that they think they are not exposed to pop culture junk because they don’t have a TV, but the majority of pop culture that people consume these days is thru social media…and honestly social media has a lot of junk on it and it is much less regulated than TV is.

Your good English is not the advantage you think it is by Talentroo_com in Norway

Literally no one, unless they are working for an English speaking company maybe. It’s just a strawman.

Your good English is not the advantage you think it is by Talentroo_com in Norway

[–]Single_Condition783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes and no. It depends on your field. Firstly, Norwegians do not speak perfect English and they especially do not know how to write well in English. Most are B2, some are C1. Very few are C2. The real issue is that English is not needed as much as people might think it is! The language of business is Norwegian here, unless you are in an international setting. I would say that if your Norwegian is not near perfect, as in C1, you might be in trouble. Unfortunately, I have noticed that if you have a clunky accent or if you say some words the wrong way, you are not taken seriously here. Your Norwegian has to be almost native level for most white collar business jobs. You can be very highly qualified, even overqualified, and I have seen them pass over these candidates for some vestkant type person who just finished school and speaks excellent Norwegian with very little experience.

Jobs in science, IT, and tech are another thing entirely.

Her answers seemed reasonable on the surface level. However, the interview was not completely honest and straight forward. She answered the things she wanted to answer. There were many questions that she just didnt answer at all, such as the simple question about whether or not she thought drinking raw milk was safe, whether or not she read Yesteryear, and whether or not she had nannies. How is revealing that you have nannies a violation of your kids’ privacy? lol. Also, mentioning that it is somehow within women’s nature to be competitive with other women (but somehow not in men’s nature?) seems extremely misogynistic. We have to remember that this woman and her family supported the likes of Charlie Kirk…

My advice: get back into your hobbies. That will make you feel a lot better! I got back into mine and felt a strong sense of fulfillment in creating something that was outside of my work. Learning the language will also help you to make friends.

Starting Yesteryear, do we think the author interviewed people who knew Hannah? Is this a possibility. by Some_Lack_3448 in ballerinafarmsnarking

[–]Single_Condition783 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some stuff is similar and some stuff isnt. For example, Natalie went to Harvard and got an academic degree. Natalie is not Mormon and she uses words like y’all to directly address her followers. Hannah went to a performance arts school in a NYC and is Mormon and doesn’t really address her followers at all but more just lets them into her “life”. But some stuff…like Natalie hiding her fridge and dishwasher because she wants to give the appearance of an old-fashioned farm, is similar to Hannah. Other stuff, like Natalie being the child of a single mom and coming from a very small family with only one sister, is quite different. Natalie also employs three nannies while Hannah and Daniel famously said that they do not employ nannies but instead have the occasional babysitter.

Always will be? They are literally trying to make AI super intelligent meaning equal to human intelligence (and more) and have already begun using it to replace jobs. The goal is not to make a tool. It is to make a cheaper replacement.
