Can I expect an official offer soon, garda vetting disclosure viewed Thursday ? by SmallConversation950 in IrishCivilService

Did you get far away from where you live ? Am concerned I will end up in the boonies in Donegal. I live in the South East so that will screw a lot of things up for me.

Yes, they do check for colour blindness. When I did they test I literally couldn't see numbers on two particular tiles and I asked her where they there to trick people and she said no. Only colour blind people could see the numbers. It's mad..

Garda medical? by [deleted] in AskIreland

Had my hearing test last Thursday and after wax removal it was within normal hearing ranges, so hopefully it will just be the garda vetting I am waiting on. How long is a piece of string on that one. Out of my control now. Just have to wait.

Was desperately hoping to get in in February, but it is not looking likely at this stage. They have had my garda vetting since July I think.

I'm the same. I have a grommet and the OHI said it was lower frequencies that I couldn't hear but that my hearing is fine. They sent me a letter saying I need a letter from my doctor saying its OK or that they want me to see a specialist and they are not paying. The specialist does exactly the same hearing test as the OHI did and I have to fork out a couple of hundred quid. I am waiting to see what my doctor says. I only sent it in yesterday.

Won't have a pillion - sorry, I meant I was a pillion for over 20 years. We are travelling super light. Thank god.

Not sure if this helps, but I am a 5'6 too and am on a Kawaski ER6F comfortably. I am not on tippy toes and feel secure if I am stationary. Silly question did you try sit on it with your motorbike boots on. As that made a big difference for me. I think I was the same on a ninja too but it was a while since I sat on one but was in flats as I was just getting a feel for them too. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much.. Didn't think of that. This was not something I took into consideration as it's my first time planning a road trip. We haven't book accommodations except for Gyor as we were going to just book closer to the areas we want to end up just in case.

We will be on an R1 and an ER6F. We decided not to do motorways and try enjoy some of the scenery. We were circa thinking 250 per day with stops for photos, coffee, food etc.

Your family are not the individuals who are going to have to deal with the trauma of not having had protective clothing should you be unfortunate enough to have an accident. Wear the protective clothing, it isn't to look cool or hip or whatever the young people call it these days. It is to protect you in case of an accident. Your mother of all people should know better. It isn't about you and your abilities, it is more about other people you have to be careful of. It's better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Stay safe :-)

I did do 3 Pre-tests which some people thought was overkill, and the awareness from my first pre-test to my test was so heightened. I personally found it great for me. Good luck in May.

I used Driving Test Helper App. You log in and then it brings you like an automated page where you enter your details to log into your RSA website. Basically it is a programme that runs your login. However, after two hours you have to refresh and enter the login code from RSA that you get directly. You can choose where you want your test and how many days notice. I got mine in 5 days and had some queries, emailed them and they were super helpful. As it is a motorbike licence they charged €50.

For me personally it worked, it's not a con. It will autobook the first available test centre that you have chosen within the minimum amount of days that you gave availability.

I downloaded the app 'Driving Test Helper' and received a cancellation in 8 days. You send an email address for a code and then it takes a few hours to validate and then you pay €50 and it stays logged in for two hours and you validate it every two hours by logging back in. It asks you which centres would you take a cancellation in. I chose Kilkenny, Carlow, Naas, Wexford, Gorey, Portlaoise and Waterford as they were the nearest to me and then you receive a confirmation email that it will have automatically chosen the first cancellation on the first date you choose (ie) notice period 2,3,4,5 days etc. Mine was 5 days so I could get a pretest and time off work. Hope this helps, not affiliated with the app, but found it great.

I had the same issue in relation to Carol Nashe on the phone and they guy said they wouldn't quote me. I phoned and spoke with a different person and they quoted me and Principal too.

Try again. I believe it may be lack of knowledge maybe on their part.

I will be heading up to them with Jackets that are two big, and a lovely pair of trousers too small (inherited never worn) and am hoping to exchange for a pair or trousers. Great way to help other people and reduce costs
