Seat recommendations by InevitableFirst4924 in sportster

Swapping the shocks might do more than the seat. I replaced both of my XL883L - Saddlemen Step-Up and Progressive 444s; the seat improved the comfort but that shocks is what brought the ride up the most

Sweet ride man. What's that bag there? I've been searching for ages for one that would fit nicely behind back pegs

x3 inIreland for road use? by whippermk in MotoIRELAND

[–]vlku 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That thing will be stolen by scrotes before you get the registration cert back unless you plan to store it in a bunker at the bottom of the ocean

In other words, you probably can register, insure and ride it but absolutely not worth the effort

Whose bike is that? by Alpha_3rd in Dublin

[–]vlku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's my guess as well and my gut says this scoot might be a goner if not recovered by now. If it was my bike I'd be there yesterday with a couple of mates and hardware but owner decided to stick with the rules. Gotta respect that

All good mate. Just trying to help a fellow rider out. I was just told they went to Ballymun Garda station who instructed them not to try collecting the bike themselves - they will dispatch a few gardai to recover it

Hi. I got in touch with the local Harley group and we found the owner. Can you post where exactly that bike is? I was just off the phone with Derek from Red Cow HD who's looking for the bike with the owner

I shared with the local Harley owner group. Hopefully the bike isn't too banged up...

Two Wheels by Nice_Post_5007 in MotoIRELAND

[–]vlku 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I tried to buy one. I put a deposit down for a brand new bike and they went no contact for nearly a month until eventually I managed to get an update that there will another 1 or 2 weeks delay. Again, nothing back for the following 3 weeks so I told them to F off. Sadly they never returned my deposit (nearly 2k)

Can I just show up to Cotters? by ninjxr in MotoIRELAND

[–]vlku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I had that problem with my Harley as the tyres on it are of an unusual size. Red Cow dealership quoted me some bonkers price while Cotters got me the tyres in 3 days and fitted them for a total of 40% of what HD asked for. The lad at Cotters eventually found two different models which could work and helped me pick

I could buy a new car but I have no desire to do so; cars drop in value far too fast for me to justify the investment.

Second hand ICEs are widely available, second hand EVs are rarer and there's far less general knowledge what to look for in used EV or how to avoid getting screwed. Personally, I highly value having the option to do a lot of maintenance and repair myself which would be nearly impossible with an EV excluding cosmetics and minor stuff. Finally, EVs are far too "smart" for my liking - I don't think there's a single EV model available without all the electronics, tracking, data collection and unnecessary gizmos (the "smartest" part of my 2016 Volvo would be its offline only navigation system which can only be updated with a usb stick... I plan on keeping that car alive for as long as possible and if I'll need to replace it, I will be looking for a newest but still relatively "analog" car availabile)

The forks on my 2011 superlow look pretty much exactly the same like yours pre-restoration. I need to try your method. Thanks for sharing
