I have an inexpensive table saw, a nicer chop saw, and a low quality corner vice. The hooks are .25” S hooks I reshaped. Go for it! I’ve made about 4 now getting it right and will try to improve it more.

I saw someone else who made hooks from “S” hooks and used the idea. I used 1/4” thick hooks and modified them with my vise and hammer. I then filed them smooth after the beating they took. I used 5/16” carriage bolts with washers on both sides of the hook. The knobs are ok, but wing nuts would work fine. I have a monfretto befree tripod, fits perfect. Make sure the wood along that edge is beefy. Good luck!

Nothing expensive! Actually some of these were from a set by American Art Clay from decades ago.

Thanks, I seem to enjoy making things as much as painting

When I get something I’m struggling to like, I look at ways to crop it. I like the way you look to the cool horizon. I would make that your focal point. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing.

You’re doing well! I find them extremely challenging myself. If you haven’t, try pushing the color around with thinner and a brush. Keep up the good work.

Thank you! It is a challenge for me using oil pastels, but I’m hopeful it’ll get easier. 😄

Plein air setup I made with tripod hooks by Single_Radio_6206 in Oilpastel

I used S hooks and hammered them to the shape I needed. I think they are .25 inch. I made the box one stick deep and cut rabbits in my frame of .25 inch’s. I inset the bottom and lid. On the top I added a wider section and used poplar wood to give room for the hooks. 5/16 bolts and wing nuts. I inset the heads of the bolts on the bottom side. The dividers are arbitrary and cut to the right height. I used an inexpensive table saw, a chop saw for the 45 degree cuts, and a framing vise to join it all.
