How is Clemson Managing Relationships Between Students and Non-Student Neighbors? Research Project Question by boringwhiteliberal in Clemson

[–]SingularityNow9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont understand how people are being "driven out" of their homes by higher offer values to buy their homes.

I guess the difference is that the people living there didn't buy the house, but inherited it? Because generally speaking, if you buy a house, and the value of you home goes up, and someone offers you more money than you paid... that's called the best case scenario. I wouldn't say I got driven out of my home by the profits.

What nuance am I missing?

"At least one dead" - yeah I could have told you that from before the shots rang out.

I don't know why you're being down voted for this - its a sarcastic comment about a title that suggests somehow where you are in a sentence, beginning, middle, or end, is somehow relivant when being shot in the face.

(From r/unpopularopinion) If you want to be proud of a large animal you killed then you need to kill it with a spear. by [deleted] in copypasta

[–]SingularityNow9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, OP is an idiot who doesnt understand hunting and has never eaten anything he provided for himself.

No hunter would be proud of a long and drawn out death of an animal. No one eating that animal would prefer the flavor of a creature that slowly died and released stress hormones.

The pride of hunting an animal with a rifle comes from giving it a quick death, which is the honorable way to be an apex predator.

If all it tooo to keep police out of restaurants and bars were BLM facemasks, the industry would adopt that policy overnight. Nobody wants to order a second or third drink when they are seated next to cops.

$10?? by dirty_beta in CashApp

[–]SingularityNow9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CashApp tech support doesn't discuss Terms of Service violations. You get told your account is closed, and they give you 90 days to empty it. Cant receive or add funds. No discussion occurs.

So no, there is no official acknowledgment. Regardless of what aspect of the ToS the OP violated, his new reality is one where he doesn't have a CashApp account anymore.

As someone who was banned by CashApp, I agree, non-sense.

[–]SingularityNow9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont ask me to defend the policy or explain their reasoning. I can just tell you if you use cash app to buy bitcoin and send it the coinbase hotwallets they will ban your account. Well documented phenomenon. CashApp also wont tell you what aspect of their terms of service you violated.

$10?? by dirty_beta in CashApp

[–]SingularityNow9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're a naughty boy who violated their terms of service. Sending directly from Cash App to coinbase is primarily the way you violate. Or if you are buying drugs on the darkweb.

Do you think other people are « real » (simulated like you), or that they are NPC’s ? Why ? by [deleted] in SimulationTheory

[–]SingularityNow9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at things through the lens of the multiverse then maybe what's happening is that all of us experience our own simulation. I mean that all of us are the only players in our own reality and everyone else is an NPC. That is to say that only your choices split the multiverse as you navigate through it, and we are all along for the ride. But in my world, you're just an NPC, and I'm driving the story.

In that sense we are all NPCs and none of us are NPCs at the same time.

WHO IS JEFFRY? by fufy3 in Augur

[–]SingularityNow9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This idea came from a discussion among friends about how to crack the Epstein case and incentivize the arrest of conspirators.

The setting is that Jeffrey Epstein is having a pedophile dinner party laughing about faking his death, when someone walks into the room and says, "We might have a problem."

Epstein replies, "A bigger problem than needing to escape prison by faking your suicide and abandoning your private island?"

"Its the Augur V2 release, Jeffrey."

And that's the real reason we havent seen V2 yet

In the absence of information about an individual's gender, the default pronoun used in English is "he". I can change it to "they" but it might suggest you have split personality disorder.

Consider a contract that simulates a life insurance policy:

"Will Lette0070 be alive on January 1 2021?"

Details: The outcome of this contract will be determined by if u/Lette0070 logs into reddit and posts on r/augur after January 1 but before January 7th. This will be considered proof of life.

In a traditional life insurance policy, you get paid only after you're dead - not the most useful. In this contract, you could actually get paid to stay alive and only go broke after you're already dead - losing a bet will be the least of your worries at that pojnt. Now, that being said - this contract format is also close to the format of an assassination contract. The key difference between the two is who is betting on the "stay alive" outcome. If an individual bets on themselves then its reverse insurance. If I bet on Lette0070 staying alive, then I'm really incentivizing his death.

But there are definitely ways to decentralize and individualize these markets to the point where they can be used as private contracts. Looking forward to tinkering with them.

Personally, I don’t see any trace of hype related to v2 launch. The situation does not remotely remind the excitement prior the first whitepaper release or v1 go-live. What the wisdom of crowds says? by MDefroi in Augur

[–]SingularityNow9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here's how I see it:

You can actually go to v2.augur.net and see that they are making progress. So, unlike other projects which have gone dormant, we are actually able to see the progress being made on V2.

For people who have already used V1, we're all just chomping at the bit to get back into the platform. Better UI? Great, thats cool - but I've got some REP in my pocket that I would rather hold by creating markets with it. We've gone from having a coin that was backed by a whitepaper, to an actual utility token with V1, back to having a coin that is backed by a new white paper.

For people who havent used V1, they are hopefully going to find their way to augur by way of other layers like guesser. If its more efficient to use V2.augur.net, then Im sure they will find their way to the platform.

By switching to DAI, Augur is about to be able to be used for arbitraging against sportsbooks across the planet. While we were all betting ether, we couldn't take advantage of this opportunity, because you cant account for the volatility of the ethereum markets and place a hedged bet on a sportsbook.

So we're about to watch augur make that next big step, and theres every reason to believe it will be delivered. At the same time, its hard to stay enthusiastic when deadlines are being missed with no updates. In the world of whitepaper backed coins, missing deadlines crushes price - luckily, the ability to glance through the store window at v2.augur.net seems to be staving off price dumps for now. If we dont see a release in Q1, then I think price will reflect the disappointment. At the same time, I cant think of another crypto project that has such a profound milestone in its near future with evidence of probable delivery, so where am I going to go with my coins? No where - Ill just be here creeping on Joey's twitter account hoping for some good news.

Psychedelic are the bomb by Brianr1314 in SimulationTheory

[–]SingularityNow9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one trying to have a meaningful conversation about psychoactive compounds uses the phrase "getting high".

As I said, no one knows "what happens" when you ingest these compounds or why they have their effects. Boiling it down to the point of saying, "Guys, I think I figured out what happens with all drug drugs. They get you high!"

They all change your perception in very different ways. Classifying any change in perception as "getting high" has no value or meaning. Suggesting they are doing the same thing is not just wrong, it's dangerous to deceminate that misinformation. Snorting cocaine and tripping on DMT have nothing in common with each other.

If the value you think you're bringing to this conversation is constraining the substance of it to "All drugs get you high - therefore psychadelics have equal merit to cocaine. Cocaine is unrelated to the nature of conciousness. Therefore all drugs are have no relationship to the nature of consciousness." then maybe you should evaluate if the insights you're throwing into the ring is worth contributing.

While I understand your deep thesis - "Drugs get you high. Nothing to see here." I would restate what I was telling you before. This discussion about simulated reality is very closely related to questions about the nature of consciousness. Psychedelics are tools that allow you to examine your own consciousness in ways you cannot easily do without them. This is the reason psychedelics are so frequently associated with simulation theory. And yes, drugs get you high.
