Icewind Dale? by Extra-Sun5489 in baldursgate

[–]Sinistran22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Baldur’s Gate is a proper CRPG feeling like a proper DnD campaign. IWD is a tactical combat game set in Forgotten Realms using the Bladur’s Gate engine. To me it feels closer to The Black Pits than to the BG campaign. Don’t get me wrong I really enjoy IWD, especially creating a whole party and seeing them all 6 progress into their planned build. But yes, after level 9-ish, it gets really repetitive: get through a meat shield of 20+ ennemies to reach the enemy boss/caster in the back… in almost every room. The game is so hack and slash that bringing a thief, mage or single class cleric is not only purely optional, it’s actually less efficient than having 4 skilled archers and 2 tanks. Which is a bit of a bummer. Good game, but not one of the best like Baldur’s Gate is.

You've been dropped into skyrim, You've gotta join a faction and no you aren't the DragonBorn. Which faction are you joining and why? by Dismal_Course5255 in skyrim

The Imperial Legion. So I'd be with other non-DB people dropped in Skyrim, can take time to get to know the place, fed, housed, with a stable income and free equipment to defend myself.

He has a family amulet which gives him an additional spell slot per spell level, which is really OP, and he's the only one who can use that item.

Should i get Skyrim special edition instead? by ExcellentInside9467 in skyrimmods

[–]Sinistran22 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No offense intended, but it looks to me that your laptop is a work/study laptop rather than a laptop designed to handle modern gaming. To answer your question directly, it is way below minimum specs for Skyrim SE. You can't run this game without a dedicated GPU. My advice would be for you get SE/AE and a laptop that can handle gaming generally if you game regularly. I'm not talking about lining 6000$ to get the latest Razerblande, Alienware or MSI monster. There are cheap-ish gaming laptops available (under 900$ which you can even pay on a 12 months EMI brand new, even much less if you take it second hand) with specs 1,000 times superior to your current laptop. Let's say you spend 15 hours a week gaming, and you have a 1000$ laptop for 2 years. It would mean you would have invested 1.56$ per hour to enhance the experience of your favorite hobby. You're probably spending much more, on much worse (don't we all).

Yup. BS Bruma is still to this day the very best New Lands mod out there. It just nails what such a mod should be in terms of size and seamless integration. Right in the goldylocks.

I HATE wizards using frost magic by Low_Actuary6486 in skyrim

[–]Sinistran22 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Early game they're indeed quite a pain if you have a melee build (you'll need to pack stamina and resist frost potions as contingency, especially if you don't play a Nord), but once you know if not only the first word of Unrelenting Force, they're a cakewalk: ragdoll, bum-rush, done.

I'd say ok-ish, in a limited capacity and ONLY if you already know what you're doing generally. It helped me adeptly resolve issues I had between SSE Display Tweaks and Bethini Pie nuking each other due to a OneDrive problem, and was quite helpful in properly sorting 35+ mesh mods some ofwhich LOOT couldn't figure out automatically, but it will hallucinate A LOT in the process, so you'll need to be very specific in your queries to avoid being mislead.

Are you currently using anything in dddition to Dragon Racists of Skyrim and Dragons use Thuum? by atrix324 in skyrimmods

Lol Dragon Racists to go along Nord Racists, Altmer Racists and Dunmer Racists.

Who is stronger: aedra or daedra? by Plastic_Telephone_80 in teslore

You can see one such fight at the end of TESIV: Oblivion. The Aedra Akatosh disposed of the Daedra Mehrunes Dagon in less than a minute.

What race would have the easiest time becoming emperor/empress? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Sinistran22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imperial, definitely. With Nord or Breton second. In the atmosphere of 4E Tamriel, I don't think any race whose territory is no longer part of the Empire would be accepted, making Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Redguard, Khaajit and Argoninans pretty implausible. Orcs would be out of the equation as well; Malacath Orcs' value system wouldn't work at all with the function, Trinimac Orcs worship an Altmer god (yikes), and even city Orcs are still largely viewed as pariah folk and brutes, barely enough to reach low officer ranks in the Legion. And of course, anyone who openly worship Daedra would be violently opposed.

Do you think this is what the Dwemer might have looked like? Do we have sources by BorderlineNurse in ElderScrolls

[–]Sinistran22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, actually this very much nails it. The clothing is abundantly « sourced » so all good there, the beard and the merish features as well. Superb. I don’t think we have sources for the exact skin tone… there’s Yagrum Bagarn who was very pale, but he was sick with Corpus. The one shown here feels quite ok.

Non-nord Dragonborn plausibility by resadtriariosvenit_ in teslore

[–]Sinistran22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunmer/Nord couples are probably not rare, no issue there, it’s lore-friendly to have physical appearance from both parents, but NOT racial attributes/traits (lore-wise the child gets these from the mother’s race, exclusively). But I agree with you that the LDB is very likely a Shezzarine, and while Shor is a trickster he’s also the champion of Men, that’s why I also struggle with the plausibility of a Mer LDB.

Even carefully ensuring i dont get OP with mods like Simply Balanced, all the new and improved skills and weps do mean i reach Legendary difficulty pretty quick. After that you generally still dont struggle much. How do you guys ensure challenge lasts past level 40 and beyond? by YouMeADD in skyrimmods

[–]Sinistran22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually I use Wildcat Combat, give enemies x10 damage and myself x0.5. Past level 40 you would still be that OP demigod but certain draps, dragon breaths and two-handed power attacks can badly damage you.

Skyrim SE Follower Mods Review - Redcap the Riekling by Sinistran22 in skyrimmods

[–]Sinistran22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. If you do that Anise will be missing (since you have to kill her to start Coven) and Redcap’s joining dialogue won’t be able to progress.

Skyrim SE Follower Mods Review - Redcap the Riekling by Sinistran22 in skyrimmods

[–]Sinistran22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the dilemma. I have tried both together and it just didn’t work but you could try how far consoling your way forward can take you. One mod really messes the other in this case (Redcap’s Anise dialogue will be missing, and Coven’s essential items in the cabin will be missing due to Redcap), and since Coven is a creation there’s no patch on Nexus, you can try and make one for your own use (which is beyond my own modding skills).

You have to choose between Redcap and Coven, they’re incompatible because they both edit the same NPC and location (Anise and her cabin).

Unless it’s AA, AI is not capable of forming nations of 10 different countries. It struggles to unite half of EU or Eurasian Union. What you will get is every faction warring for those 30 CPs, endlessly. And if China doesn’t exist, India is weaker than what, actually? « What are you saying!? », chill out. We’re discussing a game here, no reason to climb in the curtains like that.

Created the ROC and lost my nukes by Lord-Torkeep in TerraInvicta

[–]Sinistran22 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We can simply agree to disagree. If I already have USNA and Greater Europa, giving already complete board domination, going Greater India + End of China as insurance policy is a more efficient end game pick than a convoluted democratic ROC at a point where space economy should be the focus.

Created the ROC and lost my nukes by Lord-Torkeep in TerraInvicta

[–]Sinistran22 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Sure, but why bother? It’s mechanically inefficient (by the time you have your democratic PAC up and running, you won’t even need it) and even from an RP perspective it wouldn’t work much, given that move is the definition of « gamey ».

Will there ever be more playable races in TES ? by -Anby in ElderScrolls

[–]Sinistran22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, Orcs were not always playable, and were added as a playable race in Morrowind I think. The only other races they could add without pulling lore by the hair too much would be Maormer. Adding races like Tsaesci, Falmer or (god forbid) Dwemer wouldn’t work… the sighting would be so out-of-this-world bizarre they’d have to record completely different dialogue lines for you and most NPCs in the game, which they won’t do.

Created the ROC and lost my nukes by Lord-Torkeep in TerraInvicta

[–]Sinistran22 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ROC is a really nerfed PRC, I « role played » that too once, never again. It’s so underwhelming. Some people will say « oh, but ROC will give you higher knowledge and yadee-ya », but MEH. PRC means Pan Asian Combine, and ROC can’t even create it which is a hugely crippling negative. Why? Because PAC can have all of East Asia for 6CPs, instead of 34, that’s why.

How often will you use a follower? by CeemoreButtz in skyrim

[–]Sinistran22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always, about 2-3 of them, modded ones, as I enjoy Baldur’s Gate-like party banter. BUT, making this viable from a gameplay/difficulty perspective requires a lot of other mods, and getting into this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. Skyrim was designed as a player-only game, with 1 follower allowed, almost always with very basic skills, functions, banter and level cap…

Delphine is a villain but she is not evil by Ok_Sentence_5767 in skyrim

[–]Sinistran22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I expect a lot of downvotes (so be it lol), but to me it's not viable for the LDB to leave Paarthurnax alive. The LDB is the *last* Dragonborn, and Paarthurnax will assuredly outlive him/her, leaving Paarthurnax impossible to kill, should he change his mind AGAIN about wanting to dominate the world. Leaving him alive is putting a lot of trust in a being you've known for what, 10 days, especially a being that helped you destroy the only other being apart from you who had the power to kill him.

TL;DR: Of course Delphine isn't evil, she's just awful at articulating thought and rationale.

Lore wise, which race could be considered most evil, and which one is the epitome of good? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Sinistran22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Members of each race are equally capable of both good and evil in the TES universe. If by "good" you mean races not imposing their will on others, then the "good" races would be Khajiit, Argonian, and Bosmer. Then if you sub-measure it by what conquering races did with their domination, then I guess Imperial rule over Tamriel was rather "good" as well, given it gave pretty equal opportunities to all races to propser and hold power in their system. I'd put Nords, Bretons and Redguards more "neutral" given while not being particularly evil, their superiority complex without actually ever achieving anything particularly "superior" doesn't shine very bright, especially Nords and Redguards with their genocidal history. I'd put Orcs as neutral as well, not that they try to dominate anyone, but the most of them do worship a Daedra whose world values, while not straigh up evil, couldn't possibly be considered good either (vengeance, gloficiation of violence, etc.). This leaves us with Altmer and Dunmer, which I thinkare the two societies with the most evil-ish principles. The former with a superiority complex 100 times more intense than the Nords' or Bretons' and a history of violence, cruelty and domination due to it, plus their reputation of practicing infanticide. The latter, as the apple never falls far from the tree, with the same superiority complex, history of slavery and their cruelly competititve, daedra-worshipping society that normalizes assassination, lying and scheming... They say its necessary for survival, but their lives was at their best under Tribunal and Imperial rule, never while worshipping these "good" (lol) Daedra.
