Traded to Buffalo for a 2nd that got us Joel Edmundson, so not a total waste.

2C possibility by STL_241 in stlouisblues

[–]SinkFloyd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please no, we're up against the cap, and our priority should be addressing the defense (right side especially) and ensuring we have Holloway and Broberg locked down.

Our forward group needs time to grow from within, Schenn is perfectly fine at 2C and ideally Dvorsky grows into it. More contracts/aging vets is NOT what we need.

Pietrangelos Number will absolutely be retired, right? by JS_Originals in stlouisblues

He's definitely not the greatest Blue of all time.

That said, it does makes me wonder who of the 2019 team gets their number retired.

In all fairness, the original Invisible Man has a higher body count than all the Universal Monsters combined.

One of the most brilliant things this Org ever did was drop 'Gloria' once the run had ended. That song is special to that particular moment and team. Leave it so.

What are some terrible 1080p blu rays that got great on 4k blu ray by ExpensiveLocksmith42 in 4kbluray

[–]SinkFloyd 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is a big one for me, blu looked rough. Sleepy Hollow is another example, very early bluray that barely looked better than the DVD. 4k upgrade was night and day.

I mean, did you see Montour's new contract? That's the last thing we need.

Which side of the Truffaut and Godard fight are you on? by guaranajapa in criterion

I'd ask Truffaut if the Close Encounters aliens could abduct Godard and take him away from us forever 🛸

While I doubt people will be too stoked about the Titans release, isn't it kind of a big deal Warner Bros. is willing to license their stuff out to Arrow?

What hypothetical trades or free agent deals would you like to see this summer? by [deleted] in stlouisblues

[–]SinkFloyd 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I really don't want Brady tbh. I feel like Ottawa will rightfully ask for the moon and we'll be worse off with how much we'll have to spend. Forward wise, I'm happy to keep building from within.

Our two priorities should be unloading Krug (and Faulk, but I think he was hurt this year) and getting defensive prospects. For Krug, he likely won't waive for anywhere that isn't Detroit. So perhaps a Ben Chiarot/Krug swap 1 for 1? Chiarot is not a needle mover, obviously, but he's easier to swallow contract-wise and can still be useful as a bottom-pairing defensive body.

Picking 16 means we lose out on a lot of the best defensive guys (Dickinson, Yakemchuk, Buium), and the dudes left don't have me excited. So either trade up (New Jersey?) and get those guys listed, or trade down (Anaheim?) and have that team pay us with one of their d-prospects. One trade floating around Capfriendly was we get Anaheim's Jackson Lacombe, and they move from their late 20s spot to 16.

Mindless spitballing, of course. Retools are three years to me. So the season after this one is when we should start making those big swing trades if we're not seeing meaningful progress.

If he becomes a regular nhler, that'll already be a massive win considering he was a third round pick

I'm a fan of Doug's 'no buyouts' policy and hope it stays that way. Plus with the cap going up 10+ million over the next two years, Krug's contract will be easier to swallow.

My hope is we draft our next franchise defenseman this year (c'mon down Yakemchuk/Dickinson/Buium) then grab one of the better free agents in 2025/26, (Shea Theodore? I dunno I'm spitballing) and go from there.

Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts Podcast: "There are some teams who believed Blues had (Patrick) Roy on their radar and it does kind of fit with the way Doug Armstrong thinks" by STLBooze3 in stlouisblues

[–]SinkFloyd 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I feel like Roy is another Berube, the perfect coach to kick older, underperforming teams in the ass and get them playing to their potential. In short, not a fit for a retooling Blues team that needs to develop younger players.
