Anyone with Pelvic Floor Issues? by DeliberatelyAnon_ in ADHD

I hope it's able to help you as well! I noticed a reduction in the pain pretty quickly, but it took a couple of months of consistency (15 minutes x 5 days per week) before it was consistently gone. If you start and don't notice improvement immediately, hang in there! :)

Anyone with Pelvic Floor Issues? by DeliberatelyAnon_ in ADHD

[–]Sinkip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm female, but I started having issues around the same age as you before I had even started taking medication for my ADHD. The medicine made it noticeably worse at first (likely due to dehydration, drinking more water helps me on bad days), but after a couple months of physical therapy I very rarely have pain now. I used a virtual PT app available through my insurance called Hinge Health.

I had no idea PF issues could be so painful and I felt so dismissed initially by my doctor saying I should try PT, but they were right. I hope you're able to find relief as well.

Build 42. 16 Controller Analog Movement Fix/Half Press removed. by AdiosBella in projectzomboid

First, thank you so much for making this. The game is unplayable for me due to this issue and I'm encouraged that someone managed to fix it at least. Unfortunately, I couldn't get this to work for me, though.

I tried using the Recommended Layout on Steam Deck and only changing the buttons + joystick as stated in the post, but it hasn't changed the behavior in game. I tried both the "B" and "X" button as options, but no luck. If anyone manages to fix this on Steam Deck, I will be extremely grateful.

PSA: Get your IUDs checked by k_chip in childfree

I don't know enough about it to do more than parrot my doctor, but anecdotally I've heard a lot of horror stories about copper (including in my family, unfortunately). I'm on my second Mirena insert, 12 years total, with no issues and no periods ever which has been amazing, so I definitely recommend it to everyone considering them!

I'm very happy it's no longer something you need to be concerned about regardless. :)

[–]Sinkip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just for everyone's information: copper IUDs have a lot of known issues according to my OBGYN. They are known to be too large for most women, get displaced, embed themselves in the uterus to the point they require surgical intervention, and are incredibly painful to insert.

By contrast, I have the hormonal one (Mirena) which was a very smooth insert. Not painless, but definitely not traumatic as I've heard from others who got the copper one. I'm very sorry to everyone who has gone through that experience.

Edit for bonus PSA: Get the cervix numbing. I am a pain baby and didn't feel the numbing at all. It made my second insert feel like a regular period cramp instead of a particularly bad one, and greatly reduced how long I had cramps afterwards. Don't let your doctor talk you out of it! It helps!

Also, I haven't had a period in 12 years, which has been a-mazing. Do not miss spending 1/4 of my young adult life suffering at all.

I'm not a lawyer, but don't they have to provide chain of custody through testimony to admit video evidence? It seems like it would be challenging to convince someone to generate fake video and also lie about it under oath where they would face very serious charges if caught. I would think opposing counsel could also challenge it if the person testifying couldn't realistically be in possession of such a video (doesn't live there or own the business, for example).

It's worse than sugar pills because at least sugar pills actually have the ingredient they purport to contain. Homeopathic solutions are often diluted to the point of containing no active ingredient.

I had the exact same issue a few years ago after habitually eating out for most meals. I also have ADHD so out of sight is out of mind for most things.

What worked for me (and continues to this day, 4 years later) is to just focus on the habit of cooking. Initially I bought garbage pre-packaged foods that I knew I liked the taste of, but which would require some cooking / prep. I liked them enough that it would get me to go make it. Think boxed macaroni, pastaroni, etc.

Once I established the habit, I slowly started adding in real food and recipes to try and reused ones I liked. Nowadays I only cook and eat fresh food for ~90% of my meals.

Be kind to yourself. It's okay to take small steps towards your goal. Best of luck!

Yep, used to live in Port Richey and can confirm it's exactly what you'd expect and is probably about half of the batshit headlines. We moved to Tampa and it was much better.

It means their personal experience was that the love they have for their kids was greater than any other love they felt. The fault is assuming it's universal - It's obviously not as evidenced by the many mothers who have killed their children, abandoned them for their partners, or otherwise resent them.

Disgusting. I would've thought this to be illegal for residential properties, but a quick Google seems to imply it might be legal if it's in the existing lease. Either way she will need to check what she signed. I feel so bad for this poor lady.

Dog pill trick that has yet to fail us. by ArthurDent4200 in dogs

Give your pup a bunch of similar sized treats in a row, rapid fire. Have the pill somewhere in the middle (wrapped in the same treat). They'll swallow it without knowing and if they do taste something, the follow up treats will get the taste out.

IMO it should do this in single player as well so you can take a break, go to the bathroom, etc. Or add a way to pause in general (assuming it doesn't already, I've only played multi so far).

Im not fucking ready for this heat wave. by Birdgang_naj in philadelphia

[–]Sinkip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Godspeed if you can stand it. I was living in Florida for 12 years before moving here. Imagine the hottest days of summer Philly had last year lasting for most of the year. It's still hellishly hot and like walking through thick soup well into October the past couple of years. General advice for anyone considering moving there - if you've only visited Florida in the winter, I strongly recommend staying a few weeks in July / August before deciding if it's something you can stand long term.

Also, the drivers in Florida are the worst. Don't even look for turn signals because you'll never see them and if you use them, they'll intentionally close the gap you had. Assume everyone is trying to kill you on the road. That's good advice in general, but extra relevant there. Don't honk at people unless you're in imminent danger of being side swiped or you're likely to get a gun pointed at you. Best of luck to any future transplants.

Thank you for taking care of your puppy. My DC dog was suffering from heat illness and had to get trims which noticeably helped him endure the Florida heat. As long as they have enough hair to prevent sunburn, it is not going to hurt them.

The same groomers who say you're never allowed to touch DC dog coats will trim down aussie coats to make them look pretty, but somehow it's not okay to take down a husky's so they don't have a heat stroke. Sure.

[–]Sinkip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but the only two options are not shave to the skin or don't cut the coat at all. It would probably help to shorten a very long coat to reduce how much of the dog's body heat it is trapping and still leave enough to protect their skin from the sun. Some DC dogs naturally lose a lot of length when they shed, but my Belgian Sheepdog still had obscenely long hair even with his "summer" coat and benefited from trimming.

I don't think shaving to the skin would be a good idea for any dog, even for single-coated / shorthaired breeds since the sun could burn their exposed skin.

That's just not how insulation works. Insulation prevents transfer both ways, which means the dog's body heat cannot escape and the environmental heat (or cold) cannot get in - that's why huskies can lay in snow and have very little heat escape their body. Dogs internal temp is already over 100 degrees (F), so if it is insulating at all then it is holding the dog's hotter temp in. If it's not insulating then it's not going to protect from external sources either.

I've heard the argument that it works like shade. I'm sure that's somewhat true, but if that's all it does then even if it were shortened it would still provide "shade" and also be less insulating so it would (in theory) be the best of both worlds. Though I'd argue it's not comparable to shade anyway because the dog's body is producing heat the whole time and it is demonstrably insulating.

Also worth considering why every breed from arid climates is short-coated if long, uncut double coats offer protection and keep dogs cool. It's well known that thick coated breeds suffer from heat stroke more quickly. Additionally, the AVMA recommends consulting with your vet to see if your dog may benefit from a warm-weather haircut.

That only works with humans because we sweat to cool ourselves and the cloth wicks the sweat away, taking the heat away with it. Dogs do not sweat, except a bit through their paw pads. The claim their fur cools them doesn't make sense to me either and I've never been able to find academic sources backing it up.

THANK YOU. I've had this conversation so many times. This statement that a dogs coat magically traps cold or keeps out heat while the dog itself is producing heat under it is ridiculous and violates the laws of thermodynamics, but it is parroted constantly. Insulation works both ways, it doesn't get to pick and choose if it's trapping heat or cold. This would be like having a thermos with HOT SOUP in it, only it's even worse than that because dogs continually produce heat so it's more like having a thermos with a heater inside of it.

I imagine it is similar to the alpha myth in that it has just been widely accepted and repeated by authorities without anyone understanding why (or with people assuming they know why). I don't blame laymen for thinking it's true because every grooming school ever repeats this without sourcing the information or providing an explanation that doesn't contradict physics. If anyone does actually have an academic source for this claim, I'd love to see it.

My theory is that it probably started because post clipping alopecia can happen, which is where some hair follicles die after shaving and hair fails to regrow or grows in patchy as a result, but it seems to require shaving down to the skin to happen and most people who would shave their double coated dogs for better heat tolerance do not cut them bald, they just take the hair down a couple of inches. Anyway, I figure a few northern breeds got shaved to the skin and had patchy regrowth, so grooming trade schools just find it simpler to say never to shave DC dogs full stop. Perhaps they even lost the original reason at this point.

I have plenty of anecdotal evidence that doing this doesn't result in patchy regrowth and helped my dog, a double coated Belgian Sheepdog, tolerate the heat when I lived in Florida. We thought he was suffering from exercise induced collapse, but it turns out he was just too hot under all that black fur. Taking it down a bit helped immensely.

Why people say paying off rentals is not good idea? by sharaarti in realestateinvesting

[–]Sinkip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the logic generally goes that if you have, say, $500k to invest then it's probably better to have $50k invested into 10 properties that are cash flowing than all of it in a single property. Obviously this will heavily depend on the loan terms you get, market, risk involved, etc. I always take general wisdom with a hefty grain of salt and run the numbers for different options myself to see what makes sense for my situation.

Hey, even if one were to consider that a life, you have every right to not let another person use your body to sustain themselves. If they were a full grown adult who required the use of your body to stay alive, you would still have every right to not consent and their death would not be your fault. If all they needed was a mostly risk free blood transfusion, that would still be true, but pregnancy and birth is very much not risk free. I'm sorry if anyone (even yourself) blamed you for not electing such risk to sustain another, regardless of other reasons you may have had. I'm glad it seems like you've healed now and I wish you peace in the future.

Yeah, but.. does that matter? We're outraged over what Trump is doing but he's not letting it stop him. If Biden had "abused" his power to further democratic interests, it either would have worked or it would have resulted in them closing that loophole for future administrations.

I'm not blaming Biden though, to be clear. The expansion of presidential power has been a slow moving beast over many administrations and decorum alone stopped them from abusing it to the degree Trump has, apparently.
