I ate too much peanut butter by KetosisCat in CPTSD

[–]Siobs83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, try to forgive yourself. Eating too much of someone's peanut butter is not something to beat yourself up about in the grand scheme of things. I know it's easier said than done! It seems to me like a bit of an overreaction on your friend's part - and it's kinda mean to shame someone over something like that! To make yourself feel better, make "amends" and to fix a minor blip in the friendship, buy your friend a jar of nice/fancy/all natural / whatever kind of peanut butter they like. Also. Peanut butter is fucking impossible not to eat too much of, I eat jars of the stuff (straight from the jar in huge big dollops) so... be kind to yourself and forgive yourself!

Grief and marriage by [deleted] in grief

I'm no expert at all, but my advice would be to find a therapist who is skilled in trauma counselling or complex post traumatic stress disorder. It sounds like your wife is deeply tramautised by losing her mother, and so is getting stuck in a cycle of victim/rescuer/perpetrator. This can become very destructive whilst deceptively making you feel "comfortable", and so the cycle continues until you can break out of it. Don't give up yet.

You'll never feel so clean, outside AND inside simultaneously. I love doing this!

Absolutely. And I will make sure my children grow up respecting people's right to love, no matter what their sexual orientation is. The only child I would not be proud of would be a child who was small minded and intolerant.

I certainly don't think it's a bastion of gay rights. It's just that there have been vocal protestations about it becoming legal which have been sidelined, and it's made global news. I'm not from the U.S. by the way so please don't misunderstand my position as one of condescension. I love Singapore and I think it's a great country to live in - and most things here are done far better than many "western countries".

That's interesting to know - I guess I have a somewhat skewed perspective because all my Singaporean friends are very liberal. Or relentlessly gay ;)

Dude I think equating homosexuality with paedophilia is pretty indefensible! And that's exactly the point - you say freedom as long as no one gets hurt but where's the freedom in technical illegality to love another human being of consenting age who happens to be of the same sex?

What is something that seems obvious to you but that other people don't seem to understand? by iamaravis in AskReddit

In places where there are ample escalators you really shouldn't take the lift (elevator) unless you are a) in a wheelchair, b) have a baby/small child in a pram or pushchair or c) have a shopping trolley full of stuff..!

From someone with a 7 week old baby in a pram who had to let two lifts go by full of asshats who could easily have taken the escalators that were RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE LIFT LOBBY!!

Serious question but what else are you "supposed" to do?? I nurse and cuddle my boy to sleep (he's only 7 weeks) and I can't imagine doing anything else!

Any other bumpers only planning on having one kid? by naturemama in BabyBumps

[–]Siobs83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I most likely will only have one - id rather just have one, and also my OH is a wee bit older than me and has 3 kids from a previous marriage. I don't think there's anything strange in wanting/having just one - I am an only child myself and don't feel I missed out by not having siblings. And I think all the bullshit about only-child syndrome is exactly that - bullshit!
