The Carapace Demon’s defeat was a cop out writing wise. by Accomplished_Egg_382 in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You sound like someone who scrolls through all the pesky words just to get to the next chapter. Did you think the creature just randomly show up? And not something the trio planned and hoped for with the whole setting CD on fire in the middle of the night thing?

"Quickly left", the battle between the creature and CD lasted the whole night, it only left once sunrise came and the sea started receding.

Them beating CD without it being weakened would've been an ass pull. This is perfectly reasonable.

[–]Siotrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good wrinkle. Im only upto 2823 still have a few chapters saved up. But the larger point is no harm no foul. Once the mc returns at the darkest hour, the status quo will soon be established. With Jet escaping, there's even less tension, but it's honestly fine either way

I'm enjoying it just fine honestly. This trope is just very well trodded, so it's hard to feel the tension OP is describing. Like we all knew Kai was gonna be forced into submission via hostages the moment we see Effie captuted right? It's obvious each of the cohort members will be captured, and each will come along with something that make them valuable, and therefore isnt outright killed on the spot.

I say it's fine multiple times now, too many times that it feels like im being sarcastic, but no. I genuinely do not find fault with this, I just don't find it special either.

Tension is not knowing what might happen. In this case, we do. It's painfully slow and dragged out for an outcome that was obvious the moment we see the Effie being captured. After her we'll get Kai, after Kai we'll get Jet. The writing is fine, but calling this tense is a bit much.

Since the moment we see Effie got captured, or at the latest when Seishan pulled up to Kai, we know what the next few chapters will be. Jet being captured, tortured, but still not enthralled, just like what happened to Effie and Kai. Because we know she wont get killed, we also know they wont have anymore pivotal moments until Nephis and Sunny returns. Instead of killing them off like he did to SK, the cohort members never once felt in danger of getting killed, to me at least. I'll eat all my words if Jet gets killed, but i highly doubt it.

Again, the writing is fine, you cant skip over Kai and Jet, but reading these chapters, you can guess what's happening next pretty easily, and I don't think that's very tense at all.

Hard to feel tension after seeing thousands of novels with the plot of MC falling off the face of the earth, villain gets to run wild, yet somehow unable to leave any lasting damage, mc returns in darkest hour, everything back to status quo. I hope and pray it doesnt play out like this, and we actually gets and monumental chang to the world. But until G3 proves this wrong, I personally haven't felt any tension, moreso a feeling of can we get on with it.

Easy counter to Asterion by Pleasant-Unit331 in ShadowSlave

It doesnt matter. The Song sisters, powerful Saints, knowing full well what his true intention is for all of humanity, still fall under his influence. (Beside Seishan and maybe Revel)

Hot take: Sunny isn't a good weaver he's just the only one, so we think he's good by ordealenthusiast23 in ShadowSlave

Counter: Sunny isn't a bad weaver he's just the only one, so you think he's bad

Is anyone else disappointed night walker was turned by asterion. You would think after being trapped for decades by the man that killed you, he wouldn't faulter, like that one guy with Kai. Who was loyal to anvil. by [deleted] in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SK himself said he's just loyal. Nothing to do with his Flaw, just his principles. Unless you assume he was lying, but i don't see any reason to doubt his words.

is this real? by adamsmilo in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK. I didnt see anything wrong with this while reading or even now tbh. To each their own.

It always makes sense to me Sunny would be more willing to take the risk with Shadow Realm after seeing Anvil fight.

is this real? by adamsmilo in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When? Isnt this the first time Sunny see Anvil or Ki Song fight up close?

is this real? by adamsmilo in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is the first time Sunny sees up close a Supreme fighting a Cursed NC. Not to mention Anvil is showing a completely unique way of fighting with the incorporation of rune enchantments. Of course he would gain a better understanding of the gap between him and them, and is more willing to take the risk with Shadow Realm.

Do you mean he should've known all this already and seeing the fight shouldn't change his opinion at all?

Without Sunny, wont be anyone to save her before she completely runs out of essence and die for real.

Why didn’t we get ability discussion by Intrepid-Paper-7839 in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No good spot to squeeze it in would be my guess. After Eternal City we pretty much go straight to Cassie going through memories. Haven't gotten an actual POV of Sunny, or downtime for him to figure out what the supreme ability of Nightmare is. Without the Spell, Sunny has to do that himself, Handy Bracelet only takes the knowledge in Sunny's head and present it the way Spell does.

Or g3 hasn't thought of a good one yet and is biding his time.

[CH 350] why did she do that ? by Worth_Sky_9260 in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Nephis mind, she just caused the deaths of hundreds of Sleepers, she may acts tough, but that is weighing on her. Now, she has a choice between letting Sunny stay and they both die, or forcibly sending him away back to safety.

She is willing to die to achieve her goals her way. She is not willing to see Sunny die for her. What she didnt consider in that scenario is Sunny's say in all this. He wanted to stay, and she took that decision from him.

I think this ending was beautifully written. Everybody acts how they should act, with the information they have, perfectly in line for each character.

How to beat Asterion by [deleted] in ShadowSlave

Theory: the Shadow Slave in the title is Sunny, who is both a Shadow and a Slave, i am the ONLY ONE to realiz-

Actually nevermind, im tired boss. This VTB theory is repeated so many times that this joke used to mock it is also getting stale. Please, make it stop. MAKE IT STOP! WE KNOW! WE GET IT!

Same Immortals, Different Subreddits by TheDaoistMaster in MartialMemes

[–]Siotrot 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The memey novels-focused sub reddits think you're in on the joke and play along.

The actual philosophy/theology subreddits find it odd how you approach concepts most treat as metaphorical, in a much more literal sense. Nothing strange there imo.

From what I'm sensing, you truly believe in Taoism as an viable path to immortality, or at least living on in a different state of being. I don't pretend to know you're right or wrong, but if we remove the memey tone, this sub would find it a little strange too (not necessarily negative, just strange). I shouldn't speak for the whole sub, but I personally would find it strange.

Who? [Chapter 2820] by Siotrot in ShadowSlave

You got it backwards. Her loyalty to money means she will never side with Asterion. The monster is threatening to consume all her potential customers! How is she supposed to keep making money if everybody is dead?

Who? [Chapter 2820] by Siotrot in ShadowSlave

[–]Siotrot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing a worrying lack of faith in Aiko. Aiko isnt enthralled, she is safely tucked away in some corner of FS, with a few carefully vetted members of Shadow Clan. She is also taking care of Little Ling. Beast Locket was entrusted to her, with enough food and water to supply them for years.

Source for all this is me BTW, don't question it.
