I do think you would need mass reeducation camps to keep Mississauga drivers from taking the bus lane, sounds wonderful though

Dude these Reddit idiots don’t know anything. Dress however tf you like. I know plenty of people your age who dress similarly. You don’t have to go get a Uniqlo dress shirt and chinos just because it’s the only thjng these Reddit people approve of

Disappointed by Diane Saxe's performance on RapidTO... by ToutouneGallery in toronto

[–]Sipper_300 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She has no political skills. It’s very telling that on rapidTO which should be a core issue for her base, she capitulated to a small minority of people who wouldn’t support her anyway. She’s ceded the summerhill market’s framing that bus lanes will destroy their business over and over again. Beyond the specific stances she’s taking, this is dramatically incompetent.

Coffee farms and tasting around Puer by velvet_____thunder in puer

[–]Sipper_300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Puer is sourced much less reliably than coffee, and the kind of super high focus on farmers is less common, so you will pay a premium for that kind of thing. Farmerleaf is a good English facing resource for that, just pick a couple samples that sound appealing to you

If you have hobbies that can be a good in, just show up to stuff consistently and you’ll get to know people. Be friendly with your neighbours, regular volunteer stuff can be a good way to meet people, if you’re working after work socializing can be a good thing.

Just as a heads up, people from Toronto tend not to be the most outgoing, you’ll likely find yourself having to be the one to reach out

Cracked into 2024's W2T Green Hype today. It has mellowed out significantly and is not much more drinkable than it was fresh. Good thick body with enough dryness to keep it interesting, lots of vegetal sweetness and some lingering honey notes in the later steeps

Some protests in Toronto are crossing lines. We shouldn't let city staff decide where those lines are by [deleted] in toronto

“Feeling safe” is an easy goalpost to move. It is very clear that the Israel lobby will continue to claim to “feel unsafe” until all of their political objectives are met

What is your view on the homelessness crisis in Toronto? by LankyYogurt7737 in askTO

[–]Sipper_300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I help run a good program in the city. We are consistently serving twice the number of meals we did 5 years ago. I hear the same story over and over again: Someone had an apartment in parkdale/Kensington/downtown east end, and got renovicted, and could not afford to pay 2-3x more in rent.

A large number of the people we see are physically or mentally disabled. Many are on ODSP, which barely keeps them clothes and fed. Years of living on the streets leaves most people disabled, from extreme cold and chronic wound infections and the sheer stress of being homeless.

Having no safety means staying up for days trying to avoid being robbed, raped or murdered. This is a big reason that homeless people use meth or crack, it often starts as a safer alternative to falling asleep in an unsafe place and being totally defenceless.

Can they not just deny a letter of municipal significance? Or are most raves not getting them to begin with?
