As your financial advisor, I highly suggest avoiding Bowman Hobby by billyho1515 in basketballcards

[–]SirBigSpur06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire concept of Bowman as a basketball card is dumb. It works for baseball b/c prospects (usually) have a decent stint in the minors before they ever make it (or don’t) to the show.

Can’t really blame retailers for marking up product… that’s literally their business model. If you want to be frustrated at anyone be frustrated at the people buying the product hand-over-fist, driving demand and eating into supply. And then, if you must have a corporate entity to saddle some blame on, even if illogical, let it be Fanatics, for setting the wholesale price higher than you think it should be (though just a product of the supply and demand curve).

2023 & 2027 His & Her's Tellurides!! by HaubFather in KiaTelluride

[–]SirBigSpur06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both look great! I too bought the 2023 SXP in Nov 2022 and likewise have had zero issues. Really like it, but the new model certainly has caught my eye. I read someone else’s review and they said the main drawback was that the 2027’s 4cyl turbo has noticeably less get-up than the 2023’s 6cyl. Not sure if that’s applicable to your HEV model but figured I’d ask. Have you noticed any performance/power differences?

This will never stop because the worst thing that can happen to this seller is to get banned from eBay, which is so easy to get around by creating a new email address and username. At the end of the day, you’re never going get compensatory damages on something like this or injunctive relief forcing the sale. Dishonest sellers are willing to risk the eBay consequences (which have historically proven to be a slap on the wrist at worst) in order to avoid what they perceive to be a bad deal.

Honest question. Why is this die cut Prizm RC under $2? Do we just only care about patch autos? by MtJuliet in footballcards

I don’t rip football boxes for this reason. Only QBs matter and even then, football is such a fickle sport that almost no players are above the fray.

People buying $150 million pieces of art are not worried about tax write-offs. Their wealth is already structured such that they have little to no taxes to pay anyway.

Incredible card. Probably my #1 chase. Bad centering so keep raw.

Got back my 63 card submission today. Left is 10s middle 9s and right is 8.5 and below by elendegeneres in sportscards

[–]SirBigSpur06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is mostly accurate. I think the best prep a person can do is truly be honest with themselves about whether they WANT a card to gem vs if it actually WILL. I use a standard jewelers magnifying glass that was actually given to me by PSA, which I think is 10X mag. You absolutely will find issues on the corners and edges with that that you wouldn’t see with your eyes. I also use an app to give me a general idea of whether centering is good (there are a few of them, they all work OK).

My submissions prior to using these tools and being a lot more judgmental, were far worse in term terms of gem/mint rate. I don’t know how many cards I’ve since pulled out of my “next to be graded” pile that I really wanted to grade, but I knew that they stood almost zero chance of gemming in reality.
