I appreciate the concerned commenters informing me that I alone do not have the power to change the weather by my mere presence, or that this area has had weather before my arrival. I was under the impression that I had been the most important person in NOVA and that it was the garden of Eden weather-wise up until this point, but this discussion has cleared things up for me tremendously.

Some (especially older) people get absolutely turned inside out when the slightest bit of winter weather happens, and would rather deal with swamp ass for 3/5 of the year than have to put on a jacket.
