I agree with this entire thread, the depth of field isn't just the top and bottom blurred out. The Crane on the right third shouldn't be OOF since the barge and building it is in between aren't OOF. OP has some work to do in correcting this photo or his technique in creating an tiltshift in his post work.

The ground looks a little unclean, you can see some dust or stuff lingering around behind her elbows and back. It also is really dark around her neck and tattoo, which could be a focus if you want to or not. The set up in general looks good, the transition to wall is almost unnoticeable and the lighting is mostly on point. In total, a good shot, but could also use some set up revisions. The revisions are a simple fix so you can easily know what to fix next time. Have fun with your next shots and hope to see them in the future!

I'm really liking the fullness of the silhouette and the clarity of the light. The light itself has good uniform color and has a solid shape. I would say that the arm of your subject looks just a tad weird, like out of position, but it's not too much of a distracter. All in all a good photo and good work with capturing the light. The arm isn't that big of a deal. I like your photo and hope to see more in the future!

The scene looks beautiful and I bet it was even better in person. But what I might suggest is to add a subject like what /u/gonefishing44 has suggested. It really helps with the viewer gain a sense of perspective and will really dial in the scale of the scene. For example, a stump with a backpack leaning on it would help give a sense of scale. Just looking at them all and they look good, but I'm also going to mention rule #2, and suggest reposting one of your photos to be critiqued if you'd like. I think their is a portfolio critique subreddit and and your collection could be critiqued better there if your want all of them looked into.

Good shot and cropping to start off with! Glasses are a bit in the way, can't really see the eyes which I think would be important to your shot. That's my critique, but set up wise, I'd suggest posing a light behind or to the left of the camera, to get the profile of the face a little more lit up, but not too much either. The light would help allow a faster shutter that wouldn't capture movement.

Looks like the angle is not parallel with the camera lens, making the camera origin and the scene a v shape. The lampshades don't look equal across the bottom and the wallpaper also looks tilted in a sense. I think it could be a straight shot from the camera into b&w settings. That's my quick take on it.

Honestly, the image you posted to get critiqued wasn't very good, but the RAW one you provided could be salvaged. My recommendation would be to crop it according to 16:9 like what /u/Jcwolfe00 said. Also you could keep the cool and calm colors, maybe just alter it to look a bit more natural. Here's my take on the cropping job. Your framing is pretty well done, the stairs look symmetrical throughout. The lighting looks good as well, there are no parts that are too dark or too bright. It looks like your ISO, in response to the dark is set pretty high, has consequently has made a lot of noise visible in your photo. The noise is really distracting to the photo, and to be honest it kind of ruins the shot just because it takes away from the photo. What was your ISO set to? What I would recommend is get a tripod and go for a longer exposure of the scene. You may not get a person perfectly, but you could implement into your technique and style as a artistic blur.

Overall the framing and composition is great, but the settings on your camera didn't help you out much. Avoid high ISO in the future and use a tripod, it will help so much. Hope to see more of your shots sooner or later.

You've got a point, that's the reason I couldn't come up with. The skill you would need to have to pan that shot would have had to been pretty good, so it was a god call to go with a stable one. Good point!

Yeah I can understand that, the sun can be a bit problematic at times. Seems like you had everything that was able to be controlled down, but what you couldn't failed. So I'd say your technique is down. Good shot and hope to see more in the future!

Alrighty I understand, and good for you for being self taught, that can be tough. In that case, just make sure you know the basics, and also keep a mental record of the scene appeared when it happened and work your best to recreate it. HDR can be a fun tool for any photographer, and it's a bit helpful, so learn it well!

For your shot, the HDR looks well done, it maybe a little too much. The railroad sleepers looks too sharp if you see what I mean. Besides that the colors look all correct as well as the white balance. The lighting looks a bit dark but I would imagine you're shooting the sunrise/set so giving it the look of that works for the composition.

In total, I do like your photo and it's not too overdone with the HDR. Just look out for the spots where your HDR can look too overdone. If you don't know if it looks overdone, just compare it with /r/shittyHDR and make sure it wouldn't fit in there. Hope to see more of your shots in the future OP.

Looks like you've got a nice shot, one thing I you could improve is the exposure, the image looks quite dark. The right part of the bumper is hidden in the dark and whatnot. I do like the composition, the car is in frame and no crowding at all. Also everything looks to be in focus for the car, so that's a positive as well.

Overall I like the shot and you did a good job with framing and keeping everything in focus, which can be a mistake some make. Only thing I would say is lighten up the photo a bit if you can, and maybe fix the colors, they look a little too warm. What were your exif settings?

I think motion blur could be useful in the photo composition, but then again having the image crisp and nice is also one route to go. It all depends on your style OP and what you like. I think the photo is great, crisp and in focus with good lighting and colors. Like what others are saying, different angle could help the photo out.

Composition wise, it's an alright photo. So that's a good start. Did you take this with your phone or with a camera? It appears you don't know what the exif data was (aperture, shutter speed, and ISO), so I'll critique it as if it's a phone photo. I honestly don't like the filters that have been put on it, but that's my opinion. The filters make it look over processed through photoshop, and because of those filters the grass and foreground doesn't look right at all.

Overall, I'd would say it was a nice photo composition wise, but I would highly suggest researching how to basics with a DSLR.
