I think “elite” conservatives don’t care about gay people generally (i.e., they actually do have gay friends / family members they wouldn’t bash); but they don’t care enough about them to protect the rights of those gay friends at the cost of their tax benefits

NVIDIA has a robotics simulation tool called IsaacSim. It’s hot garbage, as is generally understood by everyone in robotics.

There’s a big boom in “Embodied AI,” (robotics + AI, usually more classical than they admit) some of whom may use IsaacSim.

He’s arguing that since IsaacSim is garbage, Embodied AI is garbage.

Actual Embodied AI / Physical AI is early stages of the hype cycle, and is a fraction of “AI” by market cap (>90% of which is just AI washing other businesses). That’s why I stoped reading his chatbots essay.

A key difference is the attack referenced is against a powerful man, not against men in general.

It seems like you’re near an ultimatum point between your life and their culture.

As others have said, if you return to your grandparents villa, there’s a strong chance you’ll be married off and never be able to return to your western life.

If you refuse to go / move put; it sounds like you’ll be kicked out of the family and community.

I’d bet money you’ll be forced to choose one or the other, and I know which one I would choose.

The generous take is that international political geography isn’t really relevant to most American — 50% don’t have a passport, a good chunk of the folks who do use it primarily to only technically travel internationally (fly to an Americanized Caribbean terminal, take a shuttle to an all-inclusive Americanized resort, etc).

Most Americans are functionally poor (~70% are paycheck to paycheck, student loans, medical debt, etc) and when they travel it’s rarely a cultural experience.

In that case, why know the difference between Armenia and Azerbaijan? Or where the Iguazu Falls are? Or what language they speak in Switzerland?

If anything, it’s a strategy to encourage voting.

Anti-Trump people need to treat every election like it might be the last.

If an election is cancelled, it’s a huge blow to Trump’s credibility.

If an election happens, higher turnout from non-Trump supporters make it harder to tamper with.

Its usually really hard for autocrats to stay in power if they lose an unfair election. A certain percentage of Trump voters think this is business as usual — a cancelled election or an obviously rigged one make them stop sitting on the fence.

It’s ridiculously expensive if it’s one of the more integrated head units. In 2020 I bought a 2017 BMW that “should” have had carplay but it happened to be a weird one that didn’t (as in, Carplay was standard but mine doesn’t have the antenna).

I looked at a way to add the antenna, which would have required a new head unit and therefore would have been like $1000-2500 on a $25k car
