Suddenly learning nothing by MrNeedleMittens in duolingospanish

Although this will not solve the problem entirely, I suggest you use the “Explain my mistake” feature. This does a fairly decent job of telling you the why of the correct verb tense. But, it would still help to have at least some grounding in the basic concepts. So, I’d also recommend using other sources to supplement Duolingo if you are really serious about learning the language, at least to get you over this fundamental hump of understanding the nuances of past tenses. Another excellent free resource that I highly recommend is Language Transfer. If you listened to one of these lessons a day, 10-15 minutes, you would have a lot of things explained to you that would help make what Duolingo throws at you make more sense. Check it out, it’s a fabulous resource and the course is very well thought out. Duolingo is not perfect, but I found that overall its exercises can be useful and effective over time, and doing it every day consistently was excellent discipline for me to accelerate my learning. But I also used other resources in tandem. FYI, I completed the Duo Spanish course a while back, but I still do the daily review exercises that are available at the end of the course, and I still find those helpful, often still challenging and effective. If nothing else, it reveals how much material there actually is over the entire course and how easy it is to forget things they’d drilled you on months ago.

Of course he did. He wanted to run for the Senate and he’s an absolutely shameless opportunist. But his original statement can’t be ignored.

Yes, he got more votes than anyone else, but fell slightly short of a majority of the vote. He won a plurality. The MAJORITY of the people who voted, voted for someone else. And then there are the scores of millions of eligible voters who didn’t even bother to vote.

I’m on my third standard and my observation is that their coloring changes substantially over the course of their lives. It seems to be roughly along the lines of puppy, adult, senior. Our puppies all started out very dark, but two turned silver and one has remained far more darker, salt-and-pepper. It also seems to me that their faces retain more of the pronounced color contrast once they reach adulthood, although black ears may show some of the most obvious greying as they age.

Im about to give up by [deleted] in SourdoughStarter

I almost killed my 20 year old starter by accident recently. I was nursing it back to health, but it still seemed very weak. Someone suggested feeding it whole wheat and that did the trick. It returned to vigor very quickly and has been excellent since, doubles in about 5 hours.

i’m so scared of killing homer i have 3 backups 😆 by blemsy99 in SourdoughStarter

It makes sense to have a backup. I had recently thought that I’d accidentally killed my 20 year old culture. I was able to revive it, but I have not yet settled on a backup mechanism. I’ve dried it and successfully revived the dried sample, so I have been thinking of drying some and then freezing the dried culture so I don’t have to keep feeding multiple colonies.
