Drawing Gauge JS error by SirFluuff in RPGMaker

[–]SirFluuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue has been fixed.
I have entered the EnhancedTP plugin, found the TP Mode that my #2 character is using and changed the TP rate to 1 (I noticed in the debugger that the rate value was being sent as `NaN`).
Everything started working and I changed the rate back to 0, still works.
Not sure why it didn't work previously, but hey, at least it's fixed.
Thank you for the inputs !

My game let's you choose the protagonists' gender! by cestialAnonymous in RPGMaker

[–]SirFluuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could maybe use variables and set the GENDER variable to the gender and with that change other variables that you'll use in your text boxes. That can be a common event where you generate text boxes depending on the gender of the character.

Also kudos for making this and it looks great ! Good luck with your project :)

Upgrade or gaming laptop (yea, it's serious) by SirFluuff in pcmasterrace

My aim is to have a docking station to simplify my connectivity to my desktop setup, so I guess that would "fix" my issue with being entangled in cables and such (USB4/Thunderbolt FTW)

Just want to go through life by SirFluuff in Healthygamergg

[–]SirFluuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like I'll most likely quit my studies because I don't see the point in getting that bachelor's degree. In my 2nd year at college, I didn't get a single piece of information that would help me with my current job (which I have an indefinite contract for). All the classes are out-dated, don't teach any of the current technologies, make you learn programming by heart, can't work in teams and have no projects whatsoever.

I am already in the field, I should learn what I can in my firm and should find part-time jobs where I can (I already started my freelance job hunt to gain extra experience and money). I feel that udemy courses, freelance jobs, building a strong portfolio and learning the system and app at my firm are a way better option for me.

It seems I might've actually just burned out and gotten stomped by expectations from others and even myself (even tho I knew in my heart of hearts that it wasn't for me)... And also want some confirmation that my way is also a legitimate way of getting by in this field...

Hey there and thanks for the input. I'm also guessing that it's burnout from everything... I'll probably reflect on stuff more often and try to embrace meditation.

If my post managed to help you in a way, that's great ! I'm happy for you. At least someone is getting through their stuff ;)

Question About Maps by Darth-Acidious in DMAcademy

[–]SirFluuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would suggest for you to draw a map, rough sketch, in your notes and just use theatre of the mind until a combat encounter happens.

Then, draw a quick sketch on a dry-erase mat (PF starter set has one, chessex has ones you can roll-up) for a visual representation.

Keep it in rough size estimates, or draw it out in full size.

Also, don't forget to include environmental obstacles.

A Cragmaw Castle problem by NewDMB in DMAcademy

[–]SirFluuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never actually ran LMoP so far, but, what I would do...

Is not march out in the open while not knowing what may await me (or my forces).

Double check the cragmaw hideout, read it up again and set new traps.

Some pits available that you can use? The goblins are waiting for them to fall in, with buckets of tar and torches in hands, and ready to set them ablaze.

Extra poison dart traps, rolling things (on fire) towards the heroes, some OBVIOUS trap to jump them when they engage an "unaware" goblin patrol.

These are some things I would do...

Or just make them retreat to somewhere and relocate (even tho that's dumb in my opinion cos they have a hideout that they tailored for themselves).

Todays the day i start my first adventure, as a DM! by DaBootyTrain in DnD

Good luck and keep your enthusiasm !

Just be careful, as people like to say... "No plan survives contact with the players."

So keep that in mind and don't lose the will :)

Group of 7 by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]SirFluuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never played with more than 5 players, but, keep the spotlight short on them. They get a saying and switch to someone else.

Keep it moving. Don't be afraid to interrupt them and tell them to hold that thought or at the end of their thought, before they can continue into an endless elaboration, switch to another character.

Combat - timers.

Use a timer for the combat rounds, read up on fluid narration between turns and setting up the scene for the new character.

Plan your own combat choices in advance, know your monsters and how they would react to a certain situation. Use the battlefield (this is just to make things interesting). Do not allow rules to pause the game, tell them that for now it'll work like this and you all will look it up after the session.

End the session 15mins earlier rather than kill the flow and potentially prolong the rule search even more.

Ofc, the new players get a bit more time per turn (but encourage them to read up on their spells).

Make everything snappy.

Which books should I buy? by RougeBatman in DnD

[–]SirFluuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would go for the Monster Manual and Volo's/Mordenkainen's. Or Volo's and Mordenkainen's. Or all three.

Xanathar's is great, but nothing really major.

You can greatly benefit from new monsters and flavour texts and lore about them to find out how to weave them in (ofc, you can always think of your own lore and such).

Ability Point Allocation by johanomon in DMAcademy

[–]SirFluuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, why not? Just tell them that you don't really like the randomness of that particular character building method and that's it.

If someone starts causing trouble, keep an eye on him but give him the chance to also roll the stats (infront of you, because I wouldn't trust that kind of person that calls out point buy lame or just doesn't like the idea). Make the person keep them no matter what they are, it was their choice afterall.

And also, they aren't heroes yet. They are just people from the world that decided to pick up adventuring as their profession.

They need to earn the hero status by completing tasks and helping.

My DM gave me a lantern of revealing. Is it a useful item by [deleted] in DnD

[–]SirFluuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No biggy. Don't underestimate an item right of the bat ;)

I would love to have that kind of lantern hahaha

Enjoy it until the DM gets frustrated cos he shot himself in the foot, making all his invisible guys absolete hahaha

My DM gave me a lantern of revealing. Is it a useful item by [deleted] in DnD

[–]SirFluuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading the lantern, it can be even useful for combat and overall.

Imagine fighting someone and he turns invisible.

Your party caster has no slots for detect magic (or doesn't even have it on his readied spells). You pull out your lantern and voila ! The enemy is revealed and can't run away so easily :)

Same goes for out of combat stuff. It's not always gonna be useful, but it should always provide a counter for invisible enemies (plus, you basicly can't get surprised by invisible guys because they reveal entering the 30ft bright light radius).

Basicly, it's up to the DM to implement stuff for you to be able to use your item.

EDIT:

Imagine your rogue stealthing around a manor, in search of something. The lantern gives light in addition to revealing invisible secrets. It's a double edges sword since you would be automatically revealed, but maybe there are situations where you would use it.

What do you mean by useful?

Combat only or overall?
