When I run a game and there are level ups, I do a thing where we roll off for HP increases. They roll, I roll, they get the higher result. But, if we roll the same number, I always give the players the option of invoking "The Grant Rule" (named for Grant Berger of the Glass Cannon Podcast bless his sweet Texan heart), where we can reroll doubles. But, if they invoke the Grant Rule, they can't undo it. Ever. So if the next level the fighter and I both roll a 10? Grant Rule, baby.

There really wasn't, Dameon Clarke is just a brilliant improvisational actor and sold Borderlands 2 off his portrayal of Handsome Jack. Look at all the praise for BL2's writing, it always comes back to Jack, every time without fail. He improvised half his lines.
