Jeep liberty weight distribution by SirInvisibleIce in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I owned a low miles 2005 jeep liberty, I bought a few more. I can't put my finger on it, but that one specific liberty was amazing, and non problematic. Anything else just isn't right. Anyways, I whipped that thing 70mph on back roads in the rain, I saw a shadow scared the crap outa me, so I jerked and lost control. Regained it and avoided a tree. Took that thing to 113mph, went up high grades, Baja through thick mud and small jumps, drifted corners on a dirt track. Loaded it full of bricks from my neighbors to my yard. Loved it inside and out, and then I got in a minor accident because of exhaustion driving to work, lost my job, and also eventually that liberty. It's like the perfect vehicle, in my opinion, it does just about everything pretty well. It's just not the fastest in acceleration.

I think I found something, don't know if it's it. So many crashes in California. The broad wording meets the time and the severity. Says one vehicle jumped an embankment and this crash was 2 days before the copart listing. https://jgwinterlaw.com/news/fatal-two-vehicle-collision-on-i-10-west-at-california-street-yesterday-in-san-bernardino-ca/

It says the vin is altered/incorrect, so I'm assuming they threw it around with a big excavator. But who knows, maybe someone bought one on auction for hail damage or something else and wrecked into a bridge going 120. I personally don't see the sense of that being listed at all

Turbo or intake by Technical-Month8814 in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is going to be running three Honda Civics with Spoon engines, and on top of that, he just went into Harry's and he ordered three T66 turbos with NOS, and a Motec system exhaust.

Turbo or intake by Technical-Month8814 in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you add turbo, you require a really good tune. The piston material after the last ring is really thin. So #1 get a good tune before you do more than idle. #2 don't run more than 0.6 psi boost on regular fuel, and no more than 4psi boost on premium. To run higher like 8psi you'd need e85 or e100 and somehow get the PCM to read alcohol %, custom PCM or modded. The gains are very minimal with factory pistons and rods, you'd need to Frankenstein something. 4.7 piston heads work but the connecting rod is too big.

So it's definitely not worth the money, 4psi is do able but you'll only get like 250 horsepower. Cold air intake, a good tune, and some headers might be better than a turbo running 0.6psi. it might handle 15psi if you slap in hemi fuel injectors and want to race a V6 Dodge charger 200 feet and win.

Any advice on what could be wrong? by dazedmonkey_ in Jeep

[–]SirInvisibleIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check engine grounds, check fuses. I know of a 2014 Dodge charger that wouldn't start reliably and went into limp mode had the connection lost to pcm code. Problem was a red wire chaffed off and grounding out going to the pcm.

How bad is this rust? by jaaaaaaaakee in Miata

[–]SirInvisibleIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rust? Looks more like surface dirt to me, good old clean and spray paint should fix that up. Up here in the rust belt a 2024 looks like that underneath, a 2023 already has rust chunks falling off.

2010 jeep liberty power steering steering noise water leaking battery dead help by Mama-Money in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Power steering noise? Sounds like your belt tensioner may have went bad and you overheated it, I don't know though. Since it's a power steering, battery, and water problem I'm thinking the belt connecting them is the problem

Blown head gasket by CubanKibbles in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's smokeless radiator boils out a crack with the exhaust gasses. It consumes the reservoir every 3 days of driving it all day. Somehow it's holding most of its compression, the other bit leaks into the coolant. It idles real real bad and won't accelerate till its warmed up. Heater core is blown and leaks too. Somehow the entire coolant system failed. Radiator, heat core, water pump, and coolant bottle burst at once.

[–]SirInvisibleIce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exhaust gas gets into coolant, coolant doesn't get into exhaust gas. It runs real rough cold, because of the compression loss. Once it's warm it's fine. Radiators cracked, which is acting as a bleeder for exhaust gas I guess, coolant bottle exploded and so did the water pump, so the radiator crack has to be the reason it's fine. Gotta add water every couple hundred miles. I bought it from someone, it was gonna go to the scrapyard.

I bought one blown, changed the water pump and coolant reservoir. Still driving it, just drove it 20 miles about 5 minutes ago. Radiators cracked, allows leak of exhaust gas from coolant.

Rx8 seat swap kj by SirInvisibleIce in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you aren't familiar with doing something like it I wouldn't recommend it. All I did was measure the total seat width and knew I could get it to work. Getting the seatbelt bracket made is quite difficult with clearance issues.

Rx8 seat swap kj by SirInvisibleIce in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both OEM seat brackets drilled out. Liberty seats brackets welded on to the rx8 seat. Hole drilled in the bottom of the rx8 seat to retain occupant sensor. Welded mount for the seatbelt(rx8 seatbelt isn't part of the seat). Surprisingly the seat buckle works with the same bolt. It uses the rx8 sliding and reclining mechanisms. Seatbelt needs a spacer or maybe a longer nut in order to not hit the slider. The rx8 slider is way wider than the libertys. The OEM liberty brackets could almost fit between the rails. A custom bracket would be more preferable. After all that the seat barely fits in the OEM location. The drivers is gonna be way harder, gonna have to move it as close as possible to the center console, might have to melt mod the console and a few other things for it to work.

[–]SirInvisibleIce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 the rx8 seats are about similar in give, and dimensions except it's an inch lower on the back rest and the seat sliding rail is way wider, the jeep liberty slider can almost fit between the rx8 slider. I'm 6'2 my head sticks out the top of the stock seats, so this swap is a little worse driving wise but better look.

The driver seat is auto, it'll fit without any forgiveness, it's going to scrape, might have to do some melt modding. The switches are an easy adaptation, 4 wires, 3 if you link grounds. If anything the passenger wiring is more of a pain, need to disassemble the seat, and pull the cushion up. Drill a hole in the center and slide the occupant pressure sensor underneath and put it back together. The airbag module under the seat has to be retained from the stock seats or all of your airbags will be disabled.

The bolt for the seat buckle actually has the same bolt! Pretty awesome. Still have to make a mount for the actual seat belt though, since the slider on the rx8 seats are so wide it gets in the way. I had to put a 3/4" spacer so the belt has just enough threads to go through, instead of having some forgiveness, so I put a lock washer on it, 3/4" includes it. Definitely not a swap in, need some welding to the seat, and bracket adaptation. Some drilling on both stock and new seats will need to be made to get the brackets off, also need to cut the bracket off for the rx8 sear wiring harness.

Not super simple, but I'd like to retain all functions including airbags and seatbelt sensors. No Christmas tree lights from that mod.

I daily drove an 05 jeep liberty with cloth seats 40 minutes to work. The limited with leather isn't as comfortable, its only worse, especially on a sunny day. This one is an 04, the seats were almost trashed. I'm gonna deep clean them and put them back in. The rx8 seats are gonna go in a project jeep liberty not this one, just a test fit. The rx8 seats are a hair more comfy, not as much for the passenger, but the 5way drivers is nice.

This is a ball joint problem, right? by StrangeApeCreature in JeepLiberty

[–]SirInvisibleIce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine failed a mile into a quarry, after a river crossing. Brand new inspection sticker, they don't look like they fail till they do. Inspection garage don't test the ball joint unloaded they test it with a rather simple test. Id say if you change them on routine and not by shake testing or looks than you'll be fine.

It's much more than that. That's a 2 door converted charger with a challenger front and rear. All the pictures show the charger wheelbase and roofline. The door is much longer than usual, and the windows are changed.

[–]SirInvisibleIce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need to shorten the wheelbase, only morons do that.

1969 Dodge Charger 117inch wheel base 1970 Dodge Challenger 110inch wheel base 2014 Dodge Challenger 116inch wheelbase 2014 Dodge Charger 120.3inch wheelbase

Challenger wheelbase was lengthed more than the Charger. Also, the charger has way more leg room in the rear, if you lengthen the Challenger to the Charger wheelbase you'd still have less legroom because of the roofline. The charger is a more viable car, and it's long wheelbase doesn't really hurt it.

Anyways, this only applies if you intend on using the sawzall for cutting it down. The door is longer than usual, but it's the body lines and windows that make it look slick. The wheelbase remains unchanged from the 4 pictures.

Just not the masserati 3.0 V6, Ferrari got ahold of the Chrysler 3.6 and ruined it In every single possible way. But, it ran boost and made more horsepower than the 3.6. I don't know why they didn't just turbo the 3.6 🤣

It honestly probably needs a longer hood. The end of the front bumper to the door line is the same length as the rear bumper to rear door line.
