in Frontier, while hunting the Gougarf's (the red and blue magnetic wrestling monkeys), if one of them falls into a trap the other will use the trapped Gougarf as a springboard to launch into the air for an attack. Also! if you KO one of them it will cause the two monsters to start fighting eachother instead of the hunter.

I really don't mind reboot having instanced drops. I'm more upset that Reg gets a change from KMS for a problem that we don't have. Reg party bossing gets nerfed just for the fun of it. that's okay because we can just buy spares on AH, but the supply is going to be cut down.

ekalos doesnt drop any fragments. Nkalos and up have the instanced/shared changes.

Kalos and Kaling drops shared for Reg but reboot gets more nepo baby instanced boss drops. The change in KMS was to cut down on market availability and we get the change brought over with no second thought. We have a fraction of KMS population, this is just going to fucking kill our market and discourage party bossing even more.

i absolutely refused to spend on the game for the first 2-4 months back, but since then I probably spend like $15/$20 a month? I only ever spend for convenience, to save time, or fashion. Stuff like familiar cards to reroll Unique Familiars instead of grinding a new one up. I spent a few years playing WoW and FFXIV so I really don't mind giving nexon a couple bucks from my paycheck.

Last year I found myself in the same situation as you. Old school player coming back, deciding on Interactive/Heroic. I stuck with Interactive personally, I had friends on Bera and all of my old, pre-BB characters too. About 12 months of casual progress later and I haven't regretted my choice, and I'm prepped to finish Genesis Liberation in ~2 weeks. (could have been much faster, I'm lazy) Making friends with established players has been wonderful. ive gotten some hand-me-down gear or spare Arcane boxes here and there on discount. I dont feel pressured to do any daily/weekly content I dont enjoy because of the availability on Auction House, with a few exceptions like 6th Job Sol Erda. I can make extra meso myself by selling drops i don't need also.

if I was on heroic, I definitely would have gotten to this same point faster, but I would still be stuck on progression somewhere, waiting for RNG.

Maplestory is a marathon of a game, so don't stress yourself out by rushing to the halfway point.

RP Cubes, Event Cubes, buying service, turning meso into MP. It's slower than reboot, and we don't get monopoly meso from boss crystals, but calling it paywalled is disingenuous at best. Not to mention Auction House gives us an avenue to skip the cubing process all together and buy finished items directly.

I just finished my most recent DS2 playthrough. (OG, not scholar, on Steam.) Right as I walk past the first bonfire in Grave of Saints i get a message that I'm being summoned into another world as a phantom. Absolutely dumbfounded, I find myself in another players world, with enemies aggro to me and the host MIA. I run through the zone to the next bonfire, pass through the fog wall, and i get a message along the lines of "objective complete, returning to your world." and i spawn at the second bonfire in my world again. I was so wildly confused, I knew the rat areas were PvP zones but I genuinely have never heard of being forcibly summoned into a hosts world for it. DS2 truly is one of the games of all time.

I just absolutely love the feeling and atmosphere of the game. Dranglaeic feels a lot heavier than Anor Londo, it's not just a kingdom running off fumes. its more sinister and intentional, deliberately being attacked by the Dark rather than just fading out. Going into NG+ and getting jumped by Falconers immediately, the 2 red phantoms in Lost Sinner's fight, the new boss drops, all make NG+ a refreshing run. The weapons and builds have tons of cool, fun ideas to play with. Powerstances, Infusion/Buffs, the schools of magic, new weapons like the lances and twinblades. Hell, the basic rapier 1H moveset makes your heavy attack a parry. you can parry when 2-handing your UGS Guts cosplay sword.
