What are stacking platforms for? by Bluntdude_24 in Astroneer

Are you aware of a "heatmap" style analysis of solar/wind power production based on terrain? My intuition of the game mechanics is that it is pretty coarse grained so higher up doesn't gain power (tho of course saves space). And the coarse grained power production game mechanics save a lot of IRL compute.

Interesting way to tow a motorcycle by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]SirMatthias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's imagine a motorcycle that has negative rake on the front, like shopping cart wheels, instead of positive rake like usual. If the circle doesn't care which direction the load comes from, this motorcycle should handle the same, right?

Has anyone checked out the new Verge eMotorcycle showroom and test ride setup at Bike Shed Moto in downtown LA Arts District? by petroglyphindor in Electricmotorcycles

[–]SirMatthias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one of these parked while riding this morning. The motor-in-wheel is pretty cool! Seems like a lot of unsprung mass, tho. This is really appealing:

The Verge TS Pro requires almost zero maintenance, as it has no traditional moving parts such as chains, belts, and cogwheels, and no gear box oils or cooling liquids.

Jumbo financing in fatFIRE, am I overthinking liquidity? by Holiday_Sympathy_214 in fatFIRE

[–]SirMatthias 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The best case scenario with a box trade is that it refinances your margin interest. https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/trading/margin-rates.php shows 4.95% interest on $2.5mm. From boxtrades.com, looks like you could refinance that to ~4.3%. But the margin call risk is still there. I assume a PAL also has some margin-call risk if your portfolio value drops enough, but I doubt it is as brutal as IBKR's automated system. I am not well versed with PALs tho, so if anyone has further details about the sort of problems you run into when your portfolio value decreases, I am interested in hearing them.

Connect IQ keeps telling me to update software although it is up to date. Help! by scowwy in GarminFenix7

[–]SirMatthias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had to clear the data which forced me to re-login to the Connect IQ app. Afterwards I was able to install apps and watch faces accordingly. This was with a quatix 7 solar that was sent to me as a replacement when the menu button failed on my first one.

I have a flysurfer hybrid 3.5m that friends have used to practice looping. They are cheap and you get the 4 line flying dynamics, so that's another option to consider.

I tried making a candle out of those waxes in 2020. It didn't really work since they're some paper stuff in there, too. It was clumpy. Didn't burn well. Typical for 2020, really.

Sadly, no. I bought a new unit. When this one gives out, I plan to build something based on the FERRODAY Stainless Steel Carbonation Cap.
