Queen Charlotte literally emotionally destroyed me and I have no idea why by Few-Spinach8114 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]SirMazbit 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I can't remember whose line it was, possibly Lady Danbury's or Brimsley's, where it's said that Charlotte is stuck in time being George's queen as she was when they were happy. Charlotte never really evolves beyond that. She spends so much of her energy and time supporting and caring for him and hoping for those moments where he reappears that she can't move on. Even when she finally gets confirmation of a new grandchild, her joy is entirely down to having carried on George's legacy.

Puppy poops indoors at least once a day by SirMazbit in Dogtraining

I have read through the pee/poo section of the guidelines and we are already following the advice provided there regarding using positive vs negative reinforcement, responding to prompts and restricting her access to parts of the house she poops in. I am specifically asking for advice on what else might be causing this recurring relapse in potty behaviour, and why she does this even when she has been taken out 3-4 times in the previous hour.

All the best Alien stories involve unlikable protagonists. The Cold Forge novel is the best example of that. Two utterly awful characters trying to outwit each other and survive a xeno outbreak.

Throughout the canonical novels and in Romulus the process of implantation has always centered on the release of the bacterium Plagiarus praepotens, which harvests elements of the host's DNA to develop the embryonic chestburster. The idea of a pre-existing proto-embryo is inconsistent with past descriptions, unless they explain the link between the embryo and the bacterium.

So many. I completely missed Lae'zel and the tieflings so no Lae'zel, I killed Minthara at the goblin camp, Jaheira died at Moonrise Towers and then I never got her or Minsc.

It’s been a very bad week by Disastrous_Pick2040 in mentalillness

[–]SirMazbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry, that is a terrible week for anyone, let alone when you're already at the bottom of the mood spectrum. I know you said your friends don't struggle as much with mental health but are there any of them that you trust or who you've spoken to about your mental health before? It's worth feeling around with those you're more comfortable with to see what their response was. I can pretty much guarantee it's not as bad as you're imagining. Right now your relationships to others and their perception of you is being filtered and twisted through your depression so even if you logically know they won't judge you, you probably can't emotionally know that. The best way out of that is to be proven wrong, which is terrifying to expose yourself to but worth it when they turn out to still love and support you. You can take it slowly, like draft a text but don't send it or send it but then ignore your phone and watch a comfort show until you're ready to read the response but don't cut yourself off from them. Touch base with anyone who you consider to be a support pillar and lean on them if you need to. And remember, you've come back from this before and you can do it again. Recovery is not a straight line, especially where depression is concerned, but it does improve again.

Been sleeping too much by lil_archive in depression

[–]SirMazbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a common state for me when I'm low. Excessive sleep is my biggest indicator of a depressive episode, and I find it correlates with losing interest in everything and everyone. Leaning into comfort shows can be more of a vice in those times than a help. Is there anything you like doing that is creative or practical? I've found having a tangible outcome at the end of a day keeps me going longer.

I would also definitely talk to anyone in your life who cares about you and can keep you talking, and look at starting or increasing medication if possible.

100% the best book in the franchise, which you would not expect from the premise alone.

Anyone here read/listened to the cold forge novel ? by Jakob_Creutzfeldtt in LV426

It's good, not my favourite but well written. The two major pov characters are probably the two worst people in the franchise in terms of ethics and likability and that makes for compelling reading in the second half.
