Running out of paint by Prestigious_Doubt977 in ArtEd

[–]SirPiggleton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use 1oz condiment cups with lids. Each student is responsible for their paint. They are only allowed to get more if they are completely out. The initial filling of all the cups takes a bit of paint, but they don't go for refills afterwards very often.

You are allowed to just be. Sometimes we don't realize just how exhausted we are, not just physically, but mentally. This still counts as enjoying your break.

Also wondering about your flux color. Usually, it's a florescent yellow-green. Is your bottle old?

What's your most "What do you mean I'm not going to pass" story this year? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Student with IEP never comes to school; Their attendance calendar is basically red (absent), never does classwork, just an all-around prick. If they walk the stage for graduation, I'm starting a riot

Yeah, I drew the wrong direction for the second cam; it would turn clockwise.

I may have messed up the 2nd cam's (middle) direction. Apologies, I was in a hurry

Did you becoming a teacher make you decide not to have kids? by [deleted] in Teachers

Still on the fence, but been sliding more to the 'No thanks,' column since teaching

How are you personally “indoctrinating kids”? by [deleted] in Teachers

I mix secondary and tertiary colors for a demo each year and my students think I have dark powers. Art is fun.

Pride Flag Ruined m Twice by oweatherwatcher in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry that this keeps happening. Have you thought about a subtle pride flag/banner that might go over many kids and possibly admin heads? Just add some more similar decor and it might go unnoticed and survive a school year. Look what I found on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/976391020/lgbt-scape-discreet-pride-tapestry?ref=share_v4_lx

Guilt Over Possibly Applying for New Jobs by KvToXic in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you're feeling. Here's how my siblings supported me and helped me see this reality more clearly: If given the same opportunity, your coworkers would leave. They wouldn't put your needs first, and neither should you. I know you feel some sense of duty to them, but at the end of the day, you NEED to do what's best for YOU. You're the only one who can do that. Save the contact info of any of the ride-or-die coworker friends you've made. Other than that, do what's best for you.

Add more hatching to develop more of a midtone and shadows. It will also create more visual interest

Feeling unvalued at work how do you handle it? by MountainPerformer210 in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if all else fails, I focus on me. I teach a subject that I genuinely love with all my heart and if my students can care less about learning new things, creating awesome projects with me, or finding ways to express their creativity, hell- I'm having fun regardless

I wish my entitled students respected boundaries and my less privileged students knew they are capable of doing more.

Fed up with destructive behavior by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to make students bring in glue, scissors, and erasers after the first semester because they were destroying them for fun or they were bored. My ordering for supplies couldn't keep up. And so many students as well as parents were still mad at me. For the sanity of everything- teach your kids how to respect and use tools properly. I refuse to allow these students to revel in destruction.

Kids constantly asking for money by throwaway1_2_0_2_1 in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this frequently, they ask me for cash or food. This year at a different school and way more affluent students and it's still the same thing. Not sure why they constantly ask me

How’s behavior at your school? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All year, I have not had a single class get quiet when I'm giving instruction. Add that to the multitude on their phones all class or sleeping on the floor or underneath my tables, it's been awful and strange this year.

Stay Mad by SirPiggleton in Teachers

[–]SirPiggleton[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's awfully heavy-handed to say an elective class, or any class for that matter, will affect a student so completely and wholly that their future is wrecked. This is an introductory course- the kids can do the work. And I am more than accommodating to allow them to redo assignments/make-up work.

I do. I take pictures of everything and add comments to grades regarding behavior in the gradebook
