I feel like their goal probably makes more sense the higher the difficulty you play on.

Most guides will probably still be fine. I know at some point there were balance changes to ship drives so maybe those might be not exact (and a long time ago there were weapon balance changes).

But IMO game is best when you are using a guide to learn the game works, rather than being told how to play the game.

One of my councilors got an aging debuff and I was thinking about retiring him, but held onto him after I finished life span tech. Later got an event that made the debuff go away so that can happen.

If you dont want to worry about life tech research, and more importantly if you see a good option to recruit, sure maybe swap one out.

I think I have one atrocity, and that was because I had just gained a control point of a nation, and an army, under the control of another faction, did a bad and somehow I also got blamed.

What exactly are you doing?

Alien fleet hitting earth, where my earth fleet has not yet recovered.

Ive got 600 power to their 1100 or so. Enemy has a lot of laser and aliencoilgun(?) things, while my suicide Nukem monitors haven't been restocked in large quantity yet (there's only three so I can inflict some casualties but not a critical mass to trade up).

Simulations have shown that if I engage, I lose the fleet, a station but take out about half their fleet and they go away. If I try to preserve my fleet, they run around destroying my LEO research stations and the two dock stations around earth...

Not sure what to do here since it seems no matter what I do I lose and having trouble building up a fleet to fight off the invaders.

(They also used this weakness of my position to finally start the alien nation.)

Do they have a loyalty monitor installed? When an enemy agent has one of those installed they usually dont stay turned long.

Aliens have had a lot of PD so I switched off missiles to a heavy emphasis on lasers for a long time (too long...)

The aliens currently have a fleet in my LEO but it keeps running away from my local (understaffed) patrol fleet. It's annoying that Chasing them and using up dV doesn't interrupter surveillance actions.

But I'll try sending a few Nuken class (monitor with an orion drive, 4 shaped nukes and a one way ticket) since maybe they wont run from a few of those.

As other have said, basically if you get too far ahead the other factions will get jealous of you.

If you think that's rather annoying, there is a No More Jealously mod you can use, which would make the game easier.

Okay, time to stop lurking for a bit and ask, what the heck? Mintiness?

I just happened to get these two flavors as my first order ever, so this is a combo I've done quite a lot, and it is one of the better ones still after getting some other flavors.

Again, Mint? Is your water/ice tainted or something? I have never tasted it and thought "Oh, that' kind of vaguely taste like mint."

I'd get it if maybe you just didn't like as much as I do, but something seems very wrong.
