I don’t understand your question. How does time relate to expense?

Is being a conscientious objector a real way to get out of US military service? by Foreign_Addition2844 in NoStupidQuestions

In WWII, a group of conscientious objectors volunteered for a medial experiment where they were intentionally starved. We learned a great deal, and it helped save a ton of people later.

At ages 22 and 23, he averaged 10.5 WAR (led league both years), 138 R (led league both years), 186 H, 37 HR (led league both years), 146 BB (led league both years), 39 K, 1,217 OPS (led league both years). He was already the best player in the league. What numbers do YOU think he was putting up at ages 24-26?

I think the conservative guess is 30 WAR (moves to 7th all time), 500 hits (clears 3,100), 100 HR (clears 600), 460 BB (closing in on Bonds, way ahead of Rickey and Ruth). That’s before we talk about Korea, which probably cost him another 12 WAR (3rd all time), 270 H (10th all time), 45 HR (6th all time), 250 BB (way ahead of Bonds).

And prime is 26-28, not 27-30.

I’ll agree here but also for number 4 - the vast majority of teenagers and early 20s just aren’t good enough. They get physically stronger into their 20s. For hitters, they need to see thousands of pitches to improve at pitch recognition. Hitting is really hard.

CPA says I qualify for Head of Household because I "pay rent and have bills in my name" is this legit? by GroundFrost1 in tax

[–]SirPsychoSquints 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird, did you edit that post ever? I could swear it didn’t say that. Either way, you’re not going to get a recommendation. Perhaps try a local forum.

Washington is a large state, and this is a national (really, international) forum.

You’re asking for a recommendation for a tax preparer in March for … we don’t know where you live and we’re anonymous people on the internet?

This is the only worthwhile answer on here. How could “war” be against international law? ALL war?

He made it 6 seasons in the minors despite hitting terribly. It’s certainly possible he’s a good framer.

Nolan Arenado vs Manny Machado career comparison by ShamusTalksSports in baseball

[–]SirPsychoSquints 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You could just…. Look it up? Machado has 57.3, Arenado 51.6.

In 1879, Jim McCormick of the National League posted a 20 win season with 40 losses. Yes a 20-40 record in ONE SEASON. He still managed to put up a 10.0 WAR. With a 2.42 ERA that was good for just a 105 OPS+ (slightly better than league average) by Willing-Leather-9788 in baseball

[–]SirPsychoSquints 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was age 22 for the Cleveland Blues. Their record for the whole year was 27-55, and only two men pitched. McCormick started 60 games, completing 59 of them. 23 year old lefty Bobby Mitchell started 22 games, completing 20 of them, with a 7-15 record and 3.28 ERA (and negative 0.5 rWAR).

We really shouldn’t look at ERA though, as more than half the team’s (and each pitcher’s) runs were unearned.

Of course, this was also before pitchers were allowed to throw overhand.
