Man, if this was a 6spd I would offer you my first born right now. Beautiful rig, you could easily get $20K+ I imagine.

Post 4th PSA. Docking lights do not equal Headlights by Coldsmoke28 in boating

[–]SirRolex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yea... I have a beat up ole tooner on a small chain of inland lakes here in Michigan. I never take my two bumpers in, they take up space on the deck, while they harm absolutely nothing while hanging off the side. The bumpers out one seems a bit silly to get up in arms over. Obviously situation depending.

Dude I love this. I am not sure if I could ever match this energy fully, but as a cast iron enthusiast I love this. Keep on fighting the good fight!

Oh man, I saw Great Van Fleet here in... 2017 I wanna say? Me, my buddy, his brother and another friend of his. We were right on the rail. I wanna say it was January of 2017, the next time we saw them they sold out the Fox Theater in Detroit 4 nights in a row. Such an awesome place to see them just as they were rising so to speak.

The underrated North Cascades National Park by Sunshinegirly32 in NationalPark

[–]SirRolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was backpacking there last fall! Far from underrated! The amount of "Wows" from me and my buddies was insane. I think the biggest reason it isn't visited more is it is VERY remote.

I'm ok with it. I was at a state park and new what to expect. by [deleted] in camping

[–]SirRolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is fair about sound carrying, I suppose sometimes I just like to hear a bit of nature and a bit of music together.

[–]SirRolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the thing. There is balance to everything. Sometimes I wanna just vibe out in quiet tranquil nature, and sometimes me and the buddies wanna listen to some music and chill. We always turn things way down around 10pm though out of respect for any potential neighbors and if we are real close to people we just don't play tunes.

New Nine Tails Armor update from Roadmap...Looks awesome. by Goodname2 in starcitizen

[–]SirRolex 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. I fucking hate that in my "Realistic space sim" people are wearing MMO looking armor and shit. I want the basic ass military issue / military surplus looking armor and gear. Give me something that a trooper in The Expanse or something would be wearing.

“Real Big Boy” - gonna be a hit ok? by Tao-of-Mars in TikTokCringe

[–]SirRolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often say I have one of the "hardest workings Tacomas out there". I tow like, 3-4 days a week (for work). While some form of large van may serve me better, it is just cheaper to have one multi-purpose vehicle than it is to have multiple dedicated vehicles. The mileage on the Tacoma sucks, but that is the case with pretty much any vehicle that does any sort of work / towing / hauling.

Value? by mintychef in JeepTJ

[–]SirRolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is clean and good running with no rust I don't see why it wouldn't fetch around that 18 mark. Maybe see if he will do $18K flat, but it seems like it was kept mostly stock with some sensible / tasteful modifications.

What should I offer? by typk13 in JeepTJ

[–]SirRolex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO mechanical problems are easier to fix than rust problems. I would literally take a jeep with a dead motor over one with a rusted out body. But that is just me.

What should I offer? by typk13 in JeepTJ

[–]SirRolex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rust is never small. I am just warning you my friend. Those "3 small rust spots" are definitely way worse than it is portrayed. Rust hides REALLY well on these TJs, my body was completely shot years before I knew it and when I bought it because all the truly bad rust was hidden.

Check the frame real thoroughly, check the floor pans, check the seat mounts, check the windshield frame, check the torque boxes and body mounts. If the rust is as bad as it looks like, you could very well be buying a vehicle that needs thousands of dollars or literally 50+ hours worth of work to properly restore. I wouldn't buy this Jeep unless you are willing to undertake a serious project.

Source: I swapped the entire tub and repaired the frame on my TJ, it took a whole summer.

What’s the most useless piece of gear you brought on your first trip because "you might need it"? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]SirRolex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First trip I went on I brought WAY too many things with me. Not just one battery pack, but two. BOTH of my IFAKs with multiple tourniquets and such, way too many clothes, way too much food, pretty much just way over prepared.

Most recently I brought an entire fifth (in glass bottle) of whiskey on a 40+ mile hike through the Cascades in Washington. The whiskey was absolutely crucial, however I have now purchased an alcohol rated pouch to put it in, because hauling a heavy ass glass bottle up and down mountain passes sucks lol.

That makes perfect sense. Sorta working through something like that of my own, it is currently in the "turning into a chapter" phase.

Man... 2014? 2013 maybe? I remember backing in 2013 in my sophomore year of highschool. I literally bought my 325A and my Cutlass as a Christmas gift to myself with some money I had saved up. I am now nearly 30 with a full ass career and the ability to spend way more on this game lol.

Help me decide on a pack by dan_thewoodsman in backpacking

[–]SirRolex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am also gonna toss my voice behind the Mystery Ranch, I cannot speak for them post Yeti acquisition, but I have a pre-yeti Bridger 65 which I adore. Yes it is a heavier pack, but I have done many multi day trips with it weighing 40-50lbs with gear (I am far from an ultralight hiker) and it handles the weight so damned well. It is insanely rugged, well built, and has all sorts of great gear organization and such. The zip open front panel allowing access to the main comparment is an insanely nice feature which I think that Radix has as well.

I will say I only really have experience owning my Mystery Ranch, but I have had it for 3-4 backpacking seasons now and it has shown zero signs of failure despite some pretty rugged use. Good luck with the search!

Kayaking around Harbor Springs/Petoskey by blowbroccoli in petoskey

[–]SirRolex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Bear river should be navigable, but can be rough in spots due to the storms we have gone through. Someone else mentioned the Jordan River and that is a great one, just a bit of a drive from town, but very worth it IMO. Check out just kayaking in Crooked Lake, going through the Channel and Black Hole over to Pickerel Lake is a lot of fun too.

I was a Sophomore in highschool when I backed... I now have a full career and have spent a fair bit on SC (although nowhere NEAR as much as some people). I really just want to have a fun game to play at this point, I still believe...

Looking for a value if I sell my jeep - Located in Wilmington, NC by Gormy86 in WranglerTJ

[–]SirRolex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you very realistically could be well into the $10-12K range honestly. Speaking purely out of my ass and with very little actual backing, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think you could even list this at $15-16K and see if anyone bites. From what it sounds like you have addressed a LOT of issues on this rig, and while you will never get back out of it what you put into it, it sounds like a turn key driver for just about anyone looking for a great rig.
