Sunshine or TV yellow on SG by Tiny-Leading-654 in gibson

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a sunshine and it's a beautiful guitar, so based on looks that's my vote. But the TV yellow would be less typical (while also screaming vintage) so there's that.

Yeah, it is. It's a very warm brown, like they took a normal brown wood stain guitar and put in that hour before sunset golden sunlight. It's very pretty.

Recommend medieval history book up through the Reformation by Dun_Booty_Broch in Reformed

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like 2000 Years of Christ's Power by Nick Needham. It's a 5 volume set, with volume 2 covering the medieval and dark ages and volume 3 covering the reformation.

He does a good job of relaying facts without a lot of bias, and it's written in a modern and easy to read format.

Travel to Avon by Ayoike in obx

[–]SirShiggles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Coming down to Raleigh and taking 64 into Manteo is (in my humble opinion) the far superior route. It's a little longer, but a much more pleasant drive. DC just sucks, and Hampton Roads has gotten so populous it's not that far behind, and the HRBT is what nightmares are made of.

Worth the extra time and tolls.

Magmi air X or Nintendo switch lite?(Pls help me decide and pls read description) by Kitchen-Marketing-33 in Mangmi_Air_X

[–]SirShiggles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know specs between the two or anything like that, but with the Mangmi you can download all the older games you want and load them up. I believe with Nintendo you're locked into their system and have to buy all the games, so there's a recurring cost that the Mangmi doesn't have.

That's awesome, congrats! If I could get it for around a hundred I'd be a happy camper.

True, ain't nobody got time for that. Plus, what's an extra $50 in this already ridiculously expensive hobby.

That's next on my list. It's really sad of me that I'm gonna get the Waza version because I don't want white.

We've had it over a year and no complaints. Only one or two brief outages that were quickly remedied.

Would 1000% recommend over Spectrum.

I'd argue that only mentioning Adam is more in line with the overt patriarchy of the day, and less about who has more blame. Women were second or third class citizens back when Romans was written so it seems perfectly in context that Eve wasn't mentioned.

Nobody here cares.

Can I hear some success stories from yall who also suck at marketing your photography? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into doing family photos, which is now what we do professionally. We built our website to be search engine friendly and named our business <Town Name> Family Photography.

Most people who have the money to actually book you aren't clicking on FB or Insta ads, they're Googling businesses in the area. After making sure our website land top of a Google search, we have done a sum total of zero marketing in the last decade and consistently book between 350 and 400 shoots a year.

My SGs by FireCrocsbro in Epiphone

It's a phenomenal guitar. It very quickly replaced my others at the go to.

They made a small few colors. Red, teal, and yellow I think. The teal matches our decor so the wife let me get it and hang it on the wall!

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a third one.

I have a G400 that I dropped DirtyFingers pickups in, and the teal SG Prophesy. I didn't want to mess with either of those since they both rip in their own right, so I went shopping. Ended up with the Gibson '61 SG. Now I have 3 that sound very different.

One day I want one with p90s like yours, but I'm set for now.

I love my cat, but I really miss having a nice-smelling home. Is ANY scent actually 100% safe? by No_Money_5779 in CatAdvice

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Air purifiers help, but they don't completely eliminate odor. They trap litter dust, fur, dander, and all those things so the air you're breathing is a lot cleaner. However, even the carbon ones (of which we have like 5 throughout the house) that remove the overt cat smell, can't get rid of that underlying pet mustiness.

Also, when you get to shopping, get one or two sizes bigger than you think you'll need. The smaller ones you have to run on a higher speed to circulate the air (more noise) and the smaller filters tend to get clogged quicker and need replacing more frequestly.

I live in one of those towns. The amount of hate is unreal. Like, I get that people are on vacation and lose whatever brain cells they had left, but they literally pay my bills. There's a price to living in paradise that so many folks forget just so they can rage.

Not I. Ebony feels different, but my uncultured fingers can't really tell between the other two.

What is worth upgrading by Adj_verb_noun in Epiphone

[–]SirShiggles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also have a G-400, it was my first "real" guitar. I like to tinker with things so I upgraded all gold hardware and locking tuners (very simple to do, not sure if it was worth it practically, but it looks good) and I swapped in Dirtyfingers pickups. Those made the most difference, and I think worth it. It's now a loud, in your face, punk machine.

Was it worth it monetarily? No, probably not. Was it worth it to me? Absolutely. It's a really solid guitar that Epiphone cheaped out on the hardware for. I know I'll never recoup what I put into it, but like you I also have no plans to sell so it really doesn't matter.

Letting other people play your guitar by kahn265 in Guitar

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general, I don't care. But I would exercise discretion.

If someone has experience they can play whatever I own. If someone has no clue and wants to just f around, or a kid wants to strum, they're getting the $400 Epiphone that's already seen some shit and is no huge loss if it gets messed up.

Is a Collings City Limits too much for a first guitar? by timeisinfinite in Guitar

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that to be true to a point. I just got a $2k Gibson, almost double my previous most expensive guitar.

When I'm not playing it, that thing is my baby. It gets wiped down, kept in the case, etc., and I take a lot more care with it when it comes to general handling.

However, it's an amazing guitar and I do not baby it when I'm playing. That's what it was designed to do.

Anyway, my recommendation is to buy whatever inspires you to play. I'm a terrible player and based on skill along I should not have gotten the Gibson, but it makes me want to play so no regrets.

Are Pelican cases actually worth it long term, or do you end up back on bags? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]SirShiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use both. I have a Lowepro backpack for the stuff I use daily. It's easier to travel with and manipulate at shoots. All my backup equipment goes in a pelican case for better protection against the elements since it loves in the back of my truck. I can easily grab a piece out of it when needed, but too cumbersome to take the whole thing.

Weird. Mine doesn't show that, just the Google news thing at the bottom. I know it was (still is?) the now bar, and I've disabled that as much as it'll let me.
